Hey everyone!

I'm at work this morning. I left the hospital at 2:30am this morning & slept from 3am until 6:40am this morning, then I went back to the hospital at 7am & stayed for about 1/2 hour. My mom was sleeping.

I haven't read anything from last night, but I just wanted you guys to know that she is doing well. The surgeon took her in last night at midnight to clean out the area & drain the bile (gross!). She is still draining & probably will be for a while (grosser!). Anyway, when I went in this morning, she was resting & seemed comfortable. Her temperature was 100.3, but her blood pressure looked good.

I just came into work for a couple of hours. I'm gonna go back & read the last 1,000+ pages that I have missed.

Thats good news Deadheadbelle I'm glad to hear that it sounds like your mum is on the mend.

Well I've done my food shopping for the week, the supermarket was really busy. You can tell it is April here in England as the showers have started, it has been raining for nearly 24 hours now! I'm glad we got good weather for our holiday. The sun was out every day and it was warm but not hot that you got burned. The only thing I was dissapointed with was that the MK shut at 8pm when it was still light so there was no late parade and no fireworks!! You would have thought that as it was so busy with it being holiday time in Europe they would have kept the park open over Easter and put fireworks on, but aparently not! As you could not get in to the park after dark you could not get close to the castle to see it lit up. We saw it from a distance when we ate at the California Grill but it was not the same as being close up to get a picture.

Well I'm going to check on my cat, he is under the bed at the moment but does not seem himself. He has eaten some food and is moving around but I'm not sure. Maybe he is having a lazy day(he enjoys sleeping as you can see from his picture!). If he's the same tomorrow I will take him to the vet.

deadheadbelle--I'm glad to hear your Mom is on the mend. NC Beast took awhile to drain and stuff when his appendix ruptured about two years ago. He was in sicu for like 3-4 and then a regular room for a day. He went home with his drains for about a week. It was gross-but he felt better faster with the drains.

BB---what are you saying about Scorpios----just kidding-yes, I'm definitely a scorpio.

I'm starting make PSs for May 23- 27/28---ohana and RRBB let me know if you want to meet a crazy NC couple. I know that we are going to be trying early entry for DAK on that Monday. We will be park hopping and some looking around at resorts like the Poly. We are not commandos yet.

Hooray, DHB and llebrekniT, so glad to hear that your mom/mil is doing well, considering what she went through yesterday. Has your dad/dil been able to get any sleep? It sure was a helpless feeling not being able to do anything.

Sorry if I caused a ruckus by asking about Nancypants... it's just that venting can be so healthy, and I knew it would give TB an outlet, and us, too! The offer still stands on sending get well cards... just let us know! Oh, and I second the offer to send a few stingers to NP.... even if Don didn't clue in to how serious it was, NP should have ... most women have an "alert" gene that kicks in whenever anyone is in pain. No offense, Ohana and Rick, it's just that my DH is less of an alarmist than I am and I think NP should have figured out how serious this was.

I think mom/mil should save some of the bile and give it to them in a lovely vaahse for Christmas!

I don't think we have June bugs here. We had them in Louisiana when I was little, and my mom had them in KY, because she says they used to tie a thread to one of their legs and let them fly around in a circle over their heads. Eww.

We are supposed to get locusts though... I don't know which variety, but I just hate them. They fly in your hair and splat on the windshield and are just plain gross. I may have to vacate when they arrive.

Gonna go make waffles for DH. I'll leave some out for anyone who might still be hungry after the UK breakfast!

DHB, I am glad your mom is doing better, and I wouldn't give my Robin NP's phone number unless you want to see her cower; she was livid last night. I hope you are not upset by us talking about your DSIL (NP) like that, I just get infuriated too. It's like this, If Don was on a trip with the kids (it could happen) and NP stayed home. If she needed emergency help (and it was a real need)with no one else to call, TB would be there for her in a heartbeat. Her feelings wouldn't matter; NP is still family I don't see the reverse ever being a possibility. My DW lives this saga too with my eldest Brother and his family (the one who ostracized us because we missed that DN's HS graduation.

OK, I am working up a good upset, let me shift to something fun...

NC Belle, how about this, make it for 6...If you can, we can always drop th number...My DSIL was a little floored by the offer; not just babysitting the first weekend they are open (when they won't have any help and will really need it), but Disney!

Again, there are 4 Strong reasons we might get a no...
1. The will have to transfer planes, one is 8 and one will be 13
2. The 13 YO is Deaf, so she is not just a pre-teen, she is special needs, and has an excuse not to pay attention.
3. It will be the 8 YO's first trip to Disney, and DSIL and DBIL kind of want to be there with her. That first glow when she sees the Castle
4. Money....Well, all of theirs is sunk into the new business. I have a good job (OK, there are issues, but all in all I enjoy it, Lots of time to Dis this time of year), I make what many people would consider a good income, I only get 2 weeks a year off (Plus Passover) and I usually spend them at WDW. Park passes are expensive, Food, Character Breakfasts, souvenirs (Like I can say no to my DN 8?...Yah Right). Money for us is not an issue; for them it is tight *See Lewsky's rant the other day about BB Home Theater...Well, they are trying not to see it as charity...It's really not, but I can see where they can see it this way. Every time we tell them about our trips, the little 8YO looks at Mommy and asks when she gets to go, and let me tell you KP's Puppy Dog Pout has nothing on this girl...

OK, Lewsky, now you no why I was a little sensitive about your comment to BB...It is a concern with DBIL, not a big one, but I have to be careful Flashing Cash.

Of course a year ago he replaced his 50" Projection TV with a 50" (or so) Plasma TV. (One of the reasons I had to upgrade the Bedroom TV.

OK, I've ranted on long enough.. I hope Robin doesn't get upset for spilling Family Secrets. Nephosaurus was threatened to spend the entire week We went to WDW in the Dryer if he tells secrets (like announcing our DN are coming with us) before we are ready...

Mad4Mickey, the BRAVEST thing I ever did was during the locust attack in Nashville about 20 years ago... (they were the big 1.5 inch kind with red eyes)... I was in a drugstore and saw a locust climbing up the long hair of the lady in front of me. I thought I would pass out, but I reached out and quickly pinched its wings between my fingers. (I had seen someone else do this and it worked.) The locust buzzed and she jumped and turned around and saw me standing there, pale as a ghost, holding that locust with my eyes all popped out. I just said "this was in your hair" and she started to cry! I was the <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/15_1_46.gif' alt='Superhero 2' border=0></a>!!!

Unfortunately, I don't think you can grab June bugs wings that way. You need to get one of those folding plastic rain bonnets that my grandmother wore, and keep it tied tightly to your head until July, I guess! heheheheheheee

Your pics of DLP and Paris are awesome.....I am so jealous of your trip and think Paris is the most beautiful city in the world, certainly no US city can compare.....no wonder Parisians are always so stuck up, I don't blame them! Shooooooweeeee!

Just finished catching up on all I have missed.

I talked to my mom a few minutes ago. She just saw the doctor that did the procedure with the camera thingie that went down her throat & who put the stint in. He said she has a little infection from the bile that was hanging around the organs. Draining is going well. BTW, when the Dr. went in to clean out the area & put in the draining stuff (I hope all this medical jargon isn't confusing you guys ) it wasn't open-surgery, tt was Laproscopy. She is so tough! She said they asked her this morning if she'd like some morphine & she said "no, but could I get a couple of Tylenol?, I have a headache". She is something else.

Now I would like to address a few comments:

The hot tub is uncovered. The stars are shining and there is a pitcher of Black and Tans on the bar –Lewski

Please say you didn't drink all the Black & Tans, I could really use a few. They don't sell alcohol on Sunday in Kentucky (good ole Bible belt). I could sit in the hot tub ALL DAY!

llebrekniT, why on earth did the hospital have to wait for this one particular doctor? Good God! They should have taken a look at the records from her recent surgery and done appropriate x-rays, CT scan, sonogram or whatever--to find out what was going on!! Is he the only doctor in Kentucky that could read her chart? I'm sorry, but these things really piss me off.—Bichon Barb

She did have a CT scan done at the ER in Georgetown. The surgeon insisted upon seeing her at the ER in Lexington. He also ordered another scan (nuclear something or another) before he arrived at the ER yesterday afternoon. We had the nurse call him one time & ask if one of the ER doctors could see her since he was running so late, but he said "nope". I don't know why. In his defense, the reason he would not allow pain meds before he got there to see her was because her oxygen saturation was really low (90 or 91). The problem I have is with the staff at the ER. There was ONE nice nurse, he was the only person I felt actually gave a hoot. Of course, he was not the nurse assigned to my mom. The one assigned to my mom was an ***. I don't know why he didn't just explain that she could not be given pain meds because of the risk involved with her oxygen saturation. He would just say "The doctor said we cannot give her anything until he sees her". GRRRRRRR

Is DHB going to be mad for us for talking about her brother? I mean, blood is thicker than water, and I don't want her to be hurt. -Bichon Barb

Are you kidding me? It actually makes me feel good. I feel like you guys will tell me the truth. I worry sometimes that I am over-reacting to the way Don/NP act. I'm glad it is not just me (& Anne). I talked to Don this morning & he said "so, do you think I should come down this afternoon." I cannot believe that I (32 year old baby of the family) has to tell him (40 year old first born son) that he needs to go see his 63 year old mother in the hospital. It is nuts! Here's the kicker. He will come down for 15-20 minutes & when my mom gets home, the first thing she will tell anyone who asks about her hospital experience is that "Don came by the hospital". I don't know why it surprises me, when my dad had quadruple by-pass surgery, Don came by after the UK football game to visit for a few minutes.

No ruckus caused. I like the support given when you guys hear about these yahoos. Yep, you are right about NP. I mean, my MIL came to the hospital. My husband's mom!!!! Yet, my mother's daughter-in-law doesn't even call to check on her!
