Checking in. We're packing for our trip tomorrow. We're staying with friends for a few days in Orlando. Though we won't be doing the parks, since our passes are blacked out. I'm hoping to at least get in one of the water parks. As much as I like my friends, sitting around with them and doing nothing else would be torture.
Water park sounds like loads of fun. Is that included in your pass?
No, we have the seasonal passes for Florida residents. It only includes the parks, with blackout dates (like all Summer.) But if the hotel pool isn't great, I'd be up for paying for the water park.
SadieDog, have you been able to put the dogs outside yet?
LegoMom, lucky you with the weather. Althought it isn't to bad here today. Its only in the low 90's. We have had a mild summer so far. Only a few days with heat warmings. By now we have usually hit the 100 degree mark in just the regular temp. I hope it stays this way.![]()
Hi everyone!!
Mean Queen, did you tour that day care yesterday? If so did you like it? Hope ya'll enjoy your time away.
The dogs have been able to go outside together since we were able to pick up the poop. I have taken 1 for a walk and still need to do the other, but the sun came out and it's too hot right now. Temp wise it's not so bad, but very muggy. They don't like the heat. I couldn't stand your temps all summer. Too hot for me. Makes me sick.
I was very impressed with the day care. It's located in a children's hands-on museum. They teach the kids three languages, Spanish, French and Sign. Even if I don't go back to work, I will send her there part-time so she can start spending time with other kids her own age. She's always with my daughter and her older friends. Plus, if I get her in now, I'll have a spot for her when I want to send her full-time.

Hey creativeamanda!! What have you been up to?
Honestly? Playing the SIMS2. I know it's not a good excuse not to Dis, but I have only 2 more days until I am permanently back at work.
On the bright side, look at my ticker!![]()
We are going to delete one day from our Disney trip (instead of 2). It was going to be our rest day. We are going to drive home right after MNSSHP and although we know it will be a long night, we are still going to take the day off of work (please don't shoot the teachers for taking one extra day off to make the total 3 days out--I know it's a touchy subject on the DIS). On the bright side of taking those days off, the kids I teach in the morning are going to be pleased--I've planned for the sped teacher at the middle school, her assistant, and my class and assistants (and nurse) to go to the pumpkin patch, go through the district trick-or-treating, and carve pumpkins while I am out. I'm just sad I'm going to miss it. They go to the technical center in the afternoon, but finding something fun and educational to do while I was out has been hammering at me.
DH has it easy. All of the 8th graders in his school district get laptops. He'll teach something thoroughly the week before, assign websites to explore the next week, and check on them with his laptop while he is at Disney.
Okay, well, that's the long explanation.
creativeamanda, I'm ok with the teacher taking a few days off. I however know that some parents are not. They will have to get over it. You have great activities planned for the kids.
I agree with SadieDog. Go and enjoy yourselves. A few days out of school isn't going to kill anyone!!!! And your school kids will have a ball at the pumpkin patch.![]()
Thanks. I've been stressing about this since we moved the trip from Aug 2 to October. The prob with Aug? It was too soon and too darn hot! But it would have been great--Aug 3 is our 13th wedding anniversary.
I was really concerned about telling the principal I was going to be out until they canned the principal that we used to have to tell we needed a day off. (She was downright nasty--walked into teacher's classrooms and yelled at them in front of students.) She did it to me once. Since I am an administrator, she only did it to me once. Now I have to tell the building administrator's secretary I need 3 days off. She just says, "Okay" and doesn't pry--as long as we have the days she doesn't concern herself. The other administrator made everything her business.
Thank goodness for new people. We are cutting a day off of our trip as well. We are trying to cut expenses. You gotta do what you gotta do!!
I haven't called yet. I'm hoping beyond hope that somehow we can afford that 6th day. I was hoping cutting the gas price in 1/2 would help. Until I discovered I'm going to have to ship stuff down.![]()
