I have also seen some pretty rude, mean and snarky people. There are also people who say they tried to join in a conversation, but were ignored. I have had that happen to me too. That's why I took so long to join this thread. I often thought about joining then didn't b/c I thought I might just be ignorned again. Then 1 day I figured I would give it a try. Little did I know how friendly and welcoming you guys are. What a pleasant surprise. :flower3: Thanks everyone. So glad I joined this thread.

And we're so glad you did! :flower3: It is hard to put yourself out there and risk rejection. It makes you feel like a kid all over again. Makes me understand a bit about what my DD is going through when she goes to new places where she knows no one.

refresh my "old memory" please. Where are you tiling? Is it the floor of your entry way? Your room sounds like it is really coming together.

Yup, just a small entry way. The free tiles from my brother-in-law. :woohoo:

Mean Queen...I have been in the new thread and you have left me speechless. That is what has taken me so long to post. I just didn't know what to say.

That sounds like it is going to be really pretty. Very classy looking!!

:rotfl2: Me classy :rotfl2:

I have to admit, the colors and tile do look good together. Too bad the rest of my house is mostly plywood floors.

Until the budget allows for more, as you can paint the floors with a gloss paint. It actually looks pretty good. :thumbsup2 And it should hold up until you are ready to do more to the floors.

We did paint the floor off the kitchen. It used to be our living room before we put the addition on. I would call it a dining room if we owned a dining room table. :rotfl2: The dog crates are in that room now with a couple of recliners, by husbands bass and guitar and an extra TV. A couple of scratches on the floor from the dogs, but it is holding up pretty good. That room was around $50 to paint and poly. Our addition is way too big to paint. It would cost too much to paint it b/c it's something like 24 x 28. My bedroom and my daughters room are still plywood too.

In my opinion taking one room at a time is the best way to do things anyway. :thumbsup2

I found that thread that Legomom was talking about. I just read through the whole thing. I think it is kind of funny how "we" (each area of the Dis) view each other.

Yes, house projects can get overwhelming if you try to do too much at once.

Like anywhere else, some people are kind and some not so much.

I worked out on my Soloflex machine this afternoon. Got it at a yard sale for $10! Any idea what it's like to do a bench press with a cat on your face?!.... That's my Pippin....oh so helpful..

He was just providing you with resistance. LOL :rotfl:

I'm to perfect for a scrolling tag.:lmao::lmao: :rotfl2:

Well if that's not perfect for a scrolling tag than I don't know what is!!!

So, I was strolling around on the main board this morning, and came across a thread in the Budget board that said some pretty unkind stuff about the Community board...(what that has to do with Budget is beyond me, but...)

Are we "clicky" and rude (and yes, they spelled it "clicky"....:lmao: ) around here??

Seems to me there are nasty people all over the place, not just on the CB (with the possible exception of the camping board...I've spent considerable time there and everyone seems to be nice....Goes with being a camping type person I think!).

Funny thing is, if they could step back and read their posts from my perspective, THEY are being quite "clicky" and rude themselves!! I think they all need a day with some of these: :3dglasses

I've noticed this too. On some trip reports as well! Actually, there is one poster I've noticed recently that specifically has ONLY posted negative comments on the threads they've posted to. I mean, I don't know EVERY post they make but on the threads I've read where they've commented, they have only ever had something nasty to say. Not even just an opinion against what the OP first posted about but really just not nice.

Playing devil's advocate is one thing, being insulting is quite another.

I think it's tough. The internet does provide anonymity and people tend to really hide behind that and say things they might not say face-to-face. At the same time, however, I've seen posts totally misinterpreted because the wrong tone was implied.

Not only that but sometimes the nastiness ends up working both ways. It seems that sometimes people start threads thinking that everyone will sympathize with their situation and offer only empathy, agreement and/or support, but the fact of the matter is that there are A LOT of different people with A LOT of different opinions out there. When someone disagrees with everyone else, all those in agreement jump on their back and tell them how horrible they are. I'm of the opinion that hearing the argument to any given situation is healthy; it offers perspective. It doesn't mean that you HAVE to agree with it. I think if you want your opinions respected, you have to respect others.

That being said, I personally feel that there are posters out there who solely post to rile people up. Whatever. I just ignore them. Why rise to it, ya know? If I ever see something that I feel is particularly out of line I report it to a Mod. That's it. The way I see it is I have enough stress in my life without getting upset about people on the internet being nasty. Not worth my time.

::thud:: K, off my soapbox. ;)

Hi Tink. I liked your soap box!! Sometimes we just have to get on them. ::yes::

Boy howdy but we have had SOME weather today!! Didn't get it right here in my little corner of the state, but the eastern parts of NH had some wicked wind and lots of damage to homes and trees down. It's dominating our evening news.

I'm baking some bread for the farmer's market this Saturday.... *sniff* Mmmm!...smells goooood!

.

Mmmmmm, fresh baked bread is one of the best smells.

We had tornado warnings here but only had thunder storms. It was pouring on and off all day.

What kind of bread? I wish I could bake bread. But its probably for the best that I can't. :thumbsup2 I have heard about that bad weather. I'm glad that it didn't involve you and your family. :goodvibes

I'm thankful that you haven't had any really bad weather either. Boy we could sure use the rain though.

........

I made two loaves of white bread and two loaves of wheat. If you use a bread machine for the dough cycle, it's really easy! I have a bread machine cookbook, and I put all the ingredients into the pan but then just select the dough setting. When that's done, I put the dough into loaf pans, let it rise a bit, then bake in the oven. I don't like using the bread machine for the whole thing because it makes a squarish loaf which ends up making HUGE sandwiches!!

.

You people are making me hungry with all this bread talk. I had a bread machine and loved making bread. But the machine took up a lot of space. I ended up storing it in the garage and forgot about it. DH cleaned the garage and threw it out. I think he also threw my deep fryer out. He's sneaky like that.
