Hello all! Just checking in. I've tried to catch up, but keep getting sidetracked in my attempts to multi-quote. The cruise was fun. I'll post many pics. We are now in Orlando for the 4th. Still having fun, but new and improved with free wireless internet (rather than the very costly internet on the ship.)

LegoMom - glad to see you back, though I'm sad to see I'll be losing my Starbucks buddy to Texas. Try to buy those Florida resident passes before you leave, just in case.

LegoMom, the land around the house is beautiful. Fantastic picture with the sun coming through the trees. I would LOVE to catch some of those giant bull frogs. So cool! Dirt bike sure would be fun around there.

Are you guys getting a lot of rain? I thought I saw that in the forecast for the Carolinas. Who do you have for your Internet, by the way? If we go to Texas, we'll have to have satellite (well, that or dial-up......NOT!). I think my options are Dish Network or HughesNet. Just curious who you have and what you think!

It wasn't the weather--it was me uploading my pictures yesterday. Unfortunately, you have a limit as to the amount of bandwidth you can use in a day. Typically it's not a problem. That is, until I try to upload 150 pictures to the internet. And play on Farm Town. And apparently since I was gone, all of my computers needed updating of some sort. We are with HughesNet and we like them. The alternative for us is dialup, because there is not even cable or even county water where we live. Yes, we are so far in the sticks, we have a well. I have to have something faster than dialup, because I have to do work from home and our IEP program for the school district is web-based. I used to have to stay at work late or go to work on Saturdays.

I really think where you are going to be in Texas is beautiful. Dan needs to look at the area for your chicken coup. He'll be jealous.

Thanks! It really is pretty. It's definitely different than anything we're used to but it has a beauty all its own. The oak trees on the property are wonderful...they're tall but totally asymetric so the branches kind of sprawl all over the place. Kind of like some of these big southern Live oaks, but higher off the ground. The boys would have a fantastic tree house out there!!

Now I've got to read up on my chicken breeds and see what we should get!

I feel like every time I run a load of laundry or turn on a shower, I'm literally running money down the drain! We would be back to a well in TX, thank God. The water there is funny, there is natural gas in the ground in that area and it comes up in the water, so when you first pour a glass of water, it's almost carbonated!

I would absolutely hate going back to a water bill the way my girls run water! Now, I'm glad they feel handwashing is important, but geez-Louise! And then there is the little matter of my 80-gallon Whirlpool in my bathroom .

Dan was a little jealous over the coup--it took him forever to build ours. Our favorite chickens we have gotten so far are the Golden Sex-Links and the Barred Rocks. The Barred Rocks are absolutely beautiful chickens and are consistent egg-layers. The Golden Sex-Links continue to lay in the hot and cold weather. Some chickens won't do that.

The sun didn't last long. It's mostly cloudy now with a cool breeze. Still too cool for short sleeves. Maybe the sun will come back and it will warm up. Where is summer?

So we got back from our vacation today and decided to take a big step. Those of you on Facebook probably already saw it, we got a new kitten, Pixie. She's very sweet and playful. The girls love her. Our other cats were already mad at us for leaving them so long, so this doesn't help. I expect to find a "no thank you" gift on my couch in the morning from the calico. She will be most upset about the change.

I plan to do a little trip report and post pictures. But for those on FB, you can see all my pics, including lots of food porn.

I saw the kitten pics on FB!!...she's too cute. All of ours actually learned to get along while we were away (initially the kitten was scared of the male, who just wanted to play, and the female didn't like the kitten and always hissed at him).

A while ago our kitten was chasing a bug around the living room floor, and was growling little kitten growls at the other cats if they approached him!...."MY bug!!"
