Hi, The week before Christmas we're doing an Orlando trip, staying offsite. I've been planning our MK park day, using touringplans.com and it looks like we'll crank through the main attractions we want to do pretty quickly. We will though want to stay through the evening for the parade and fireworks, so now I'm thinking of maybe booking a relaxing table service dinner at either the MK or one of the monorail hotels because it looks like we'll have plenty of time for something like that (it's a much less crowded day that what I'm used to that we're going. I usually visit on crowd calendar 7-9 days and this is only a 4, so I'm finding myself with extra time to kill). Any suggestions for dinner. Last MK day we did dinner at Ohana and really liked that. Was thinking we could do that again, but am open to other suggestions / might be fun to try something new and different, although we do love the Polynesian. There are five of us ages 18 - 78. Oh and the 78 year olds are really active seniors who love the parks.

Also, note that this will in all likelihood be our only Disney table service meal that we do on the trip.

I would vote for Ohana if you are going to leave the park.

If you want to stay in the MK Liberty Tree Tavern is good and although I haven't been there yet, Be Our Guest seems to be popular.

If you haven't been to BOG and can get an ADR, I'd recommend that. If not, I'd probably pick Artist Point at Wildnerness Lodge. It isn't on the monorail, but you can take a relaxing boat ride over to WL for dinner.

We loved having dinner at Kona Cafe at the Polynesian. Food was delicious, and our service was great, too. And we were there for dinner on Thanksgiving, 2012! I figure if they can handle a slammed day like that with good service and keep the food high-quality, it's worth a recommendation...

(To be honest, we went to 'Ohana for breakfast and were extremely underwhelmed. It gets lots of good reviews, but we left feeling we'd wasted time and money on that particular meal, and wished we could get both back.)

Grand Floridian hosts a few lovely restaurants - Citricos and Narcoossee's are both classy (and pricey!) sit-down options. I've heard a lot of positive reviews for both of those. No personal experience, but we're trying Citricos on our next trip. Very much looking forward to that one. On the cheaper side, the Grand Floridian Cafe was quite good when we've eaten there, and quite reasonably priced.

At the Contemporary, California Grill is (expensive!! and) immensely popular. We've eaten there 3 times now, and had fabulous experiences each time. If you time it right, you can watch Wishes during dinner, if you don't want to head back into the park for the night. I don't know much about The Wave @ Contemporary, but the menu looks pretty good and the prices are a bit easier to swallow. :)

As for within the park itself, we haven't yet tried Be Our Guest within Magic Kingdom - it's on our itinerary for October! - but we haven't been too impressed with other sit-down restaurants there. We're hoping Be Our Guest lives up to its hype! :)

Oh yes! I'd totally forgotten about the boat from Magic Kingdom to Wilderness Lodge. (We rent a car, so we haven't had a reason to take it.) We loved Artist Point! :)
