SW Ticketless Travel Funds question

I completely forgot about rebooking a SW flight last summer and getting $160.00 back in Ticketless Travel. These funds expire July 29. So my question is, can I use them to book a new flight that departs after July 29?

Here is what the site said, which is why I'm thinking that I have to book a flight that departs before 7/29:

If you apply Ticketless Travel Funds toward the purchase of a new reservation, your new reservation record will reflect the expiration date of the oldest Ticketless Travel Funds used to pay for this reservation. Therefore, the expiration date of your new reservation and all Ticketless Travel Funds associated with your new reservation may be less than 12 months. The Ticketless Travel Funds expiration date will be printed on your new Ticketless Travel Itinerary and Receipt.



Or can I buy tickets for, say, this Christmas, with the funds as long as I purchase them before 7/29?

All of the flights you book with the funds must be completed by 7/29....that's the bad news....the good news is they will usually extend the use date for 6 months if you call customer service and act pitiful (which would allow you to use them for an Xmas flight)....do it before 7/29 though because once they expire they cannot be extended.

FYI, the 6 month extension is a 1 time deal....it cannot be rextended after that date.

I did this recently. FYI -- the six month extension is given in travel "vouchers". Not nearly as easy to use as ticketless travel funds. You cannot book the flights on the internet. You have to call and make a reservation and the rules state that you must present the vouchers at the ticket counter at the airport within 24 hours of making the reservation. I was told by a SW customer service representative that if you call the Customer Service Dept. after you make the reservation, they will flag your reservation and allow you to present the vouchers on the day of travel. However, I haven't done this yet. I hope it works. I really don't want to make an extra trip to the airport to present vouchers. My vouchers expire on October 15th and I'm not sure where I want to go. I have to make a decision soon, obviously. There will be no extensions.
