I’m so stinkin excited! :dancer:
It’s been a while since we’ve cruised and he has NO CLUE that we are going. My DDs have been helping me and today we are making his surprise cards to reveal our trip.
Has anyone else surprised their family members with a cruise? How did you tell them?

Yay! Merry Christmas.🎄

I've never done that. In fact, I'd probably not do that. For me, a surprise trip wouldn't be that relaxing. I need time to prepare.

Now, if you're saying you're going to tell him that you've already booked a cruise in the future, that's different. But, opening a gift on Christmas that says "we're cruising tomorrow", that's not what I'd want.

Oh I agree with your hesitation. I should have said we are sailing in February! He probably wouldn’t mind the other way either- I’m the planner. He just goes with the flow!

Thats wonderful!!! We surprised our kids the maiden voyage of the Disney Magic back at Christmas 1997 for what finally turned out to sail on July 30, 1998. They were so excited as it was our first cruise ever for any of us!!! Now we got our grandkids hooked on DCL!!

So, is it going to be the first present he opens or the last?

We are surprising the kids tomorrow (cruise is 1/31) and we keep debating they should open it.

While my kids had been on quite a few cruises we surprised them with one that we were taking our neighbors along with us (their kids are the same ages as my kids and they were all good friends) . We made matching shirts for all of us and gave the kids the shirt as their Christmas gift. The shirts noted the ship, the date, and all our names so it was self explanatory. :) They loved it...and we all had something to wear embarkation day.

Good luck with your surprise and enjoy the cruise!

We surprised our kids on our first 7 day cruise (3rd overall) by taking them to Disneyworld without telling them. Then once there, we continually told them our goal was to "see the new Dumbo" as the ride and new carnival area were freshly re-opened. They thought that was pretty cool. On our way back to the airport, we diverted to the port and saw the real "new Dumbo" on the back of the maiden year Disney Fantasy. Chaos erupted in the car and a great cruise was had by all.

We managed to surprise our kids years ago when we took a Spring Break cruise. We (OK, well really my wife) had packed for them and they woke up on Saturday morning and were able to tell them that morning casually something like "maybe we can just go on a Disney Cruise today". It took a moment to set in but then it was a great reaction. I think it's the best surprise we've ever done.

Another time we told them we were going on a cruise by giving them a word/letter puzzle I had made where they had to work together and when they solved it, it said something like "We are going to Alaska on a Disney Cruise". They did the puzzle on a long car drive, and figured out about halfway through that something big was up. That time, though, we weren't going on the cruise until much later.

As PrincessShmoo said, though, for the adults (and even now with our kids being older and wanting to plan more), I'm not sure the day-of would be as great of a surprise (though I'd still take it!).
