When I was first researching Aulani, I remember reading that you could reserve surfing lessons with Hawaiian Fire Surf through Aulani excursions, but when I go through the excursions page the lessons are with Girls Who Surf. Does anyone know why this changed?

Looks like through Aulani I can do a one or two hour private lesson for my DD9 and pay for the transportation (rest of the family will have the car at Pearl Harbor). Wondering if one hour will be enough. It's $104 for one hour or $177 for two hours, plus $30 for our transportation.

Or I can book Hawaiian Fire with a Ko Olina pickup (assume this is near Aulani). They offer a 2 hour private lesson for $169 but the ride along fee for me is $50. So it works out to be about $10 more overall.

Anyone used either company recently?

There is a trip report over in the dvc trip report section right now, title contains something about squealing tires, the poster discusses her experiences with Hawaiian Fire. Sounds like she had a great time.

The teachers from Hawaii fire own Hawaiian fire across the street next to pizza corner. Go in there they offer deals.

My family stayed at Aulani this summer. Our excursion with Hawaiian Fire was truly the highlight of our trip... Can't say enough good thIngs about them!

I called the company directly to book our lesson based on many good TripAdvisor reviews. They picked us up promptly right outside of the lobby, and drove us to their secret beach that was almost empty... Gentle waves and very little marine life (good news since I am terrified of sharks) due to its location.

The instructors were top-notch. Everyone in my family was surfing in no time, especially the kids!!

They even had a photographer who took awesome shots of all of us -- around $50 & the pics were waiting with our mail when we returned home.

Definitely book it! Our credit card wasn't charged until 24 hours ahead of time, and they did have a pretty good cancellation policy.

Enjoy the trip!

My 11 year old sin LOVED his lesson with Hawaiian fire. We tried to book another one while we were still there, but they were l booked up for the week.

OP here- glad to hear Hawaiian Fire get great reviews. I did end up booking directly with them and my DD9 can't wait until her lesson later this month.

I'm still not clear on why Hawaiian Fire is listed as one Aulani excursion, while Girls Who Surf is listed as an Aulani excursion when I go to the site a different way. I called MS and the lady I spoke with had no idea. Anyway, it was cheaper to book directly with Hawaiian Fire than to book through Disney, so that's what I did.
