Summer Block Party

Thanks for the report Jan - we'll be there on Thursday next week (leave in 14 hours - yay!). Looking forward to it since we had fun last year at the PI summer block party. Taking our friends with us this year, so we'll be sure to drag them with us - free ice cream can convince anyone!

OKWJan Thanks for posting. Wouldn't you know the one thursday we are there, was our MDM day, with dinner at Prime Time. I guess I might have to see if we can stop by as a break from MGM. Our Epcot day is our day before, Wed. Oh well, we'll try to get there.

That sounds ok to me. IF we are near the Epcot back entrance, we might go to it.. Again, it is nothing exciting to me, and if we are near it, we will go, if we are not, oh well, no big loss.... It does sound neat for a lot of members, I am just not thrilled with it.. BUT, it is very nice of them to do that for the members...

We will be arriving on July 19th and going to Epcot anyway. We will stop in our way back to BCV.

We attended the Summer in the Savannah event this past Thursday and we (DW, DD-9 and DS-5) enjoyed it. The kids particularly enjoyed the craft project and the DJ. The addition of characters this year was a nice touch. We had attended the Summer Bash last year and also had a great time. Both were well planned, well organized and well attended.

One significant difference we noted is the strong emphasis on selling VAKL, for example, a sales booth outside of main entrance of the event, large promo pieces on the various units displayed in the main tent, salespeople setting up tours and the fact that the giveaway was themed to the resort itself rather than general DVC members. It was also noteworthy that this event was probably less expensive than the prior year event - less giveaways, less door prizes, no PI admission.

That said, the sales emphasis did not detract from our enjoyment. Events such as these, like the member get-togethers on DCL, really add value to the ownership experience.

I will be there on August 9th with some of my safari happy kids. They loved the Summer Block Party last year.
