Summer airfares: going higher

The Bing (nee Farecast) bloggers have posted an update on summer fares:

Here is the lead-in paragraph, just to give you a flavor.

Recently a reporter asked us to find an example of a route (origin/destination) for which the fare has gone down in the last year. We couldn’t find a single one. That pretty much sums up the state of summer travel.

Less capacity, plus a general increase in demand will inheritently increases prices, which for airlines is a good thing, it might help them start to be profitable again.

Indeed. Just trying to remind folks that what you paid last year might not necessarily be what you pay this year.
