summer 2005 dates

Over the past years i have checked the DCL website and others regualrly, and I think most of the annoucements have come in May.

I book a 7 day cruise thinking it would be an Easter cruise and in May 2001 it changed to a 'Western' last year in May they annouced the special trips for this summer and the Christmas 10 day trip.

Many posters have said /thought that if it is linked to Califorina it would be the 5th May with DL's 50th annoucement.

It still think ( maybe hope pray wish etc) that its the Carribean and they will expand their carribran ports the same as Carnival and RCCL include Belize and Costa Maya, and possiblly Jamica or St lucia the other way.

The web site still has these dates TBA under 7 day carribean trips! Is that a clue!

Looked at another site, someone called DCL and was told the rates will be out in May!!!

Didnt say if thats 2004, 2005, or 2006 (joke) presume next month, the same as previous years annoucements!

Yesterday I got a very lengthy e-mail from customer service, regarding some "constructive criticism" I had about our March 20 cruise. I had also mentioned that we had re-booked on board for the discount, but was not happy with the delays and information. I said that if and when the dates came available and we could get the cabin we wanted on an itinerary that was new we would indeed cruise. I also said that if they waited too long, or after all the wait did not release any new itineraries that we would cancel our resergation with them and cruise at about a third less on another line.

After addressing my cruise concerns, this CM stated that she was glad that we had re-booked, and hoped they would see us on a future cruise, and that they hoped to release the dates "LATE MAY OR EARLY JUNE" argh!!!!!!!!

Other sites are also reporting people saying Mid May as the annoucement date for DCL.

A well infomed site is saying the 4th and 5th of May is just for Disneylands 50th, and DO NOT expect any other large annoucments at this time.

I have read another post saying it is 'unlikly' that DCL will cruise the carribean on 7 day trips in Summer 2005, whilst nothing is confirmed the DCL site does show TBA under the heading SEVEN DAY CARRIBEAN CRUISES, rates dates and more.

If they were 10 day or special cruises surly they would be under another heading? (Both headings available)

Late May or early June? Ugh!!! I was really hoping to book this on our cruise the first week in June, but "early June" could mean just about anything. I want to book shortly after the date opens so I can go for a SPR, but after June, we won't be sailing again until Sept. Oh well, for all I know, the annoucement might be delayed until then! If it's not out when we sail, I think I will just book an alternate date to get my onboard booking credit. We almost did that this time around but decided to wait since our next cruise isn't too far off.

ANY NEW NEWS ON THAT

Unfortunatly that couldn't happen. People say there is no way they could be building a new ship without people knowing. Stockholders and such would have to be notified and there are no ships being built by DCL in the ship yards right now. Nice dream though :D

The other option, again very slim, is that Disney will charter a ship or buy one, to fill the Dsineyland celebration route.

I called disney yesterday and was told that by the beginning of may that the dates for the summer 2005 would be announced.. even though i am told that i still call every day or every other.you just never know.. when i called today i was told by a cm that she had no idea then the dates would be released.. so who do you believe. our last cruise in July 2003 we had booked almost 18 months in advanced, so this is a little fustrating, especially when i need to book 5 rooms for friends..
COME ON DISNEY ... RELEASE THOSE DATES.. I NEED TO CRUISE..
i know if the ship moves to the west coast, we will find another line.. we are actually looking into the RCCL.. looked really nice.. BUT NOT DISNEY..

They cant just hide a ship, and would have to annouce any big spending plans, Disney are monitored a lot currently, we hear about 'The Alamo' cost and low turnoverfor example.

They could hire a ship already in service, but done that, and they didnt like it.

Other sites who are also well informed say do not expect any big annoucements on the 4th/5th, they say this with confidence,

Its Disneylands 50th annoucement, one year before they start their celebration. It is said to be nothing else.

DCL did hold back some summer dates last year, and these were released in mid May when the new ports were announced for this summer.

Exactly the same 'no itineries' showed up then on the Website,, so you cannot read it is being held back for a big annoucement.

If its California the annoucement is likly to be 4th or 5th of May, with DL's meeting, otherwise before or after that date the chances swing back towards the Carribean.

It seems whilst not consistent a number of pepole are being told mid May for an annocement which moves away from the DL's 50th?

or it moves out the "announcement" so that people will stop calling DCL. If you anticipate hearing something in Mid-May, you'll be surprised to hear it earlier. If they say May 5th, you know it will be announcing they are going to CA. And you'll keep calling around that date.

I called DCL yesterday and was told an annoncement would be in mid-May. We have just about decided that we won"t go to Ca. to cruise Disney. If no 7day are out of Fla. summer 2005 we're considering the 4-day. We're about 4-5 families who would be cruising and no one is wiiling to make the trek out there- least of all my parents who would cruise wtih us and are in their mid-seventies. Keeping my fingers crossed for something in the Carribean- anything!

I am with you AOPI57, for me personally travel to CL would be difficult, crossing everything including fingures, for early May annoucement about Carribean trips, if they do i would be very happy, but I hope they could look after the west costers some time.

Quick thought looking at another site, 4th/5th May 2004 is Disneylands annoucements on Disneylands 50th, It is reported that the celebration will start one year later on the 5th May 2005.

I do not know myself when DL opened, but surly if the Magic went it would turn up late? It has a 7 day cruise on the 7th and then it would take 10 more days ot get around, if it went turning up 17 days late for the start?

Disneyland opened July 17, 1955

Your quick just found that out myself on another site, so the magic would be late for the start of the 50th Celebration but could be around the actual week!

I think we all should have a bet on the date the 2005 magic dates are annouced, I know many pepole hoping for California want it to be with DL's 50th annoucement on the 4th/5th May, but who wants to start the bidding on a date??

Just read this on another thread thought I'd share it here:

Can't find the summer 2005 thread....m
We just got back from our Easter Wonder trip. I'll post a report later...it was fantastic!!

Anyway...Stephanie confirmed that the announcement is May 5th and that the Magic appears to be going West. She also said that, to her knowledge, the Magic will be doing 7 day itineraries.

We booked an imaginary date (in April) with the intentions of switching to summer 2005 as soon as we get the details. We were thinking of going to Disneyland (1st time) for their 50th celebration anyway. This will really add to our trip!!!

I'm sorry if this is really old news. I've been away for 2 wks and as I said, I couldn't find the old thread.

Jess

Well...I'm glad we made other plans because California would be too expensive for us right now.
