summer 2005 dates

That is my next worry, thinking of the alternatives at the current time! Cost from UK greater to go to the West coast!

Verandah Man...

Thanks for moving my post over. I couldn't find the thread this morning and I didn't have a lot of time to dig for it.

I'm still burried in laundry and other "just home" errands. Once things settle down, I look forward to posting my trip report!!

Thanks again...
Jess

Well...I'm glad we made other plans because California would be too expensive for us right now.

Do you mean that flights are too expensive? I don't know where you're from so that may be true but it might be worth checking. We found round trip flights from Providence to Los Angeles for $200 this July. That's less than what we pay for Providence to Orlando.

Hey Andrew Derek UK - We have family fly out all the time from the UK - We are pretty good at getting good rates on flights - We usually book the ticket for our family because we can get the flight cheaper here than they can in the UK - Don't ask me why, it just seems to be!

Anyway...Stephanie confirmed that the announcement is May 5th and that the Magic appears to be going West. She also said that, to her knowledge, the Magic will be doing 7 day itineraries.

Who is Stephanie and how come she knows this is certain?

Thank you ''KaitlinsMom'' I do not know why UK is so expensive but that is the way it is? Some people here call it ''Rip off'' britain, when we can go across the sea to France on a day trip and buy everything cheaper.

I stock up on jeans when I go to the USA 50% cheaper than UK.

If the Magic is off to California, it cannot be just 7 day trips, I think looking at the calender you would have;-

10 or 11 day trip to & from LA through Panama. (back would need to be around August 25th.)

That leaves say Tuesday 24th ish to August 25th in La.

If it has 7 day trips they would leave on a Tuesday or Wednesday.

If they want most of the sailings like PC on Saturdays they would need to 'top and tail' with a 4/5 day cruise say on May 24th and August 20th.

Some posters said it would share with Carnival at La, so it would have ot fit in with them.

My "guess" is that Stephanie was the booking agent during the Easter week cruise. It's only my "guess."

Stephanie is the booking agent on the Wonder. I'm only posting what she told me. Of course, nothing is 100% until Disney actually makes the announcement..apparently that will be May 5th (my TA confirmed that she received word that DCL is making a BIG announcement on May 5th too).

Stephanie did seem quite sure the Magic was going west. She also said it would be a 7 day itinerary.

Jess, if shes herd it 'on board' it does follow a patten, I have hoped for a Summer 2005 Carribean cruise but it does point now to CL.

Onyl if she is recycling information from this an other sites is it likly to be wrong.

I have read over the past couple of days the press event is 4th and 5th May, and whilst there isnt any big annoucement, it includes possiblly redevelopment of 20k leagues under the sea site at WDW, new mixture of late opening at WDW for disney hotel guests, not just early entry, and DL's 50th.

It follows a pattern and it's pointing West!!

Hi Everyone!!!

Just got back home from our MAGICal Easter Cruise.

Just to confirm, Donna Giuliano, CTC, Cruise Sales Manager for the Disney Magic advised me that DCL will announce the special itineraries on May 5, 2004. She is pretty sure that the DCL web site will be updated at the same time as when DCL reservations open for business that day. DCL is in process of finalizing contracts with the ports and venders.

The cast members have a good idea of what changes are in store but cannot, under contract, say anything about the details.

:earsboy: :earsgirl: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

At least, we seem to have a target date for the announcement. Not everyone will be happy, but it will be good to know.

And if the Magic goes to CA, do you think the Wonder will keep the same itiineraries?

Yes the Wonder dates for the summer are already on their site.
It would only be the Magic changing

Cheers,
Grumbo

5th May now seems to be set in stone and it is nice to here the website will be up and running the same day.

Wonder dates for all of 2005 are already on sale on the website so will not be changed.

Just need to know the ports now!!!!!

If the annoucement is May 5th, when would you think the DCL Website is updated?

Midnight GMT?
7.OOAM?
9.00am?
When the anoucement is made at WDW press event?
Later in the day.

When an annoucement was made before, which Travel agent updated their information the quickest?

Would they 'waitlist' people in preference from pepole making phantom bookings and wanting to change?

My guesses are:

-- The Disney Magic summer 2005 announcement will take place mid-day at the press event at Disneyland in California (by which time it would be evening in Europe).

-- A press release will be issued on the same day (after the press event announcments have been completed), presumably on May 5.

-- The press release, and various articles based on the press release, will be readily available through various Web sites on May 6.

-- Dreams Unlimited will have the new dates and itineraries on their site within hours after the announcement.

-- It will take up to three days to update the offical Disney Cruise Line site.

Again, these are just my guess.

I know I'm in the minoirty but I am having trouble seeing DCL sending one of the boats to CA when their booked more than other cruises already. It would have been the perfect time to bring a new boat on board but DCL has decided not to go that route, at least not right now. My guess (bet) is that they will play with the itenararies for next summer, possibly even with some longer cruises since the 10 day Xmas went over so well. Regardless, either option should suggest to DCL that a third boat would be well received.

Thank you Horace and Dean.

Dean,I am with you and hope for a 10 day carribean cruise to be annouced for the summer 2005 on the Magic and will book it up immediatly, if it is annouced.

However the other guys have some very strong arguments for the 'magic' going to CL and a lot of people are now coming back with the same story.

All along I have personally felt, its 50/50 stay in carribean with new ports / or off to CL.

In the last two days I have started to 'give up' and see that the anoucement is more likly to swing to CL.

I havent given up all hope and still note the DCL Website has the missing dates under ''7 day carribean cruises''. I hold a little hope this means it is still in the Carribean.

I hope in some way its everyone reading the same rumour, which becomes fact and then look for evidence to support it. Some comments say CM's have 'herd' about the West coast, was it from sites like this?

I must conceed I have moved to 75% CL and 25% Carribean, but still hope for 10 day Carribean trips.

Hopfully we will find out about the 5th, maybe the 6th in the UK.
