submersible missing near the Titanic

Right. Which is why the excuse "they didn't want to expose a top secret system" doesn't make sense to me.

It's okay that it doesn't make sense to you. It's not supposed to. That's kind of the whole point. If everyone understood how this stuff works, it would benefit no one.

Just make peace with the fact that there are things out there that you don't know about and that you will never understand. Anything the military deems "secret" in any capacity will have a handful of people who know all the nitty gritty details about it and understand how it works. That's the game of national defense.

I'll tell you, from experience, it is very often worse knowing those secrets and never being able to talk about any of it in any capacity. My husband spent 3 years attached to a Marine Intelligence unit and he had a Top Secret level clearance and has been suffering from nightmares and anxiety in a major way ever since due to the things he now knows about from the military exercises he had to provide support for and wishes he didn't. So take solace in being a lowly civilian who can claim ignorance about this kind of stuff. It's not always better to know what's really going on. As his wife, I will never know what he knows and there is nothing I or any of his doctors or therapists can do to help him cope because he literally cannot talk about it, ever.

I'm sorry for your husband for that. My classified knowledge has to do with the style and operating characteristics of various nuclear reactors used by the Navy. Believe me, it's a snoozefest for normal people.

It‘s fun to be schooled by someone whose knowledge of the subject was gained primarily from Google.

ETA: …over the past three days.

I don't know why they didn't tell the public about it, but I don't know that I agree they should have. Maybe someone was thinking "if the public knows, they'll give up hope" and they weren't positive it was an implosion.

It's the people making the excuse of "they didn't want to give up secrets" that I don't get.
Likely multiple reasons why we weren’t told it had imploded a week ago. I don’t doubt the narrative was controlled to distract from other current events

Huh? I never said I wanted to know HOW it worked. We know now that the Navy heard something. We don't know what or where they heard it from, but we know they heard it.

So the "Top Secret" is out... Submarine owners and James Cameron knew about it earlier than the public. So it must not have been much of a secret. Thats all I'm saying.
