For anyone looking into a snorkeling excursion in Nassau on your own, I would recommend Stuart's Cove. I believe i paid $35 by booking through their website.

They have a bus that will come pick you up by the taxis, and take you to their location. Then you get to snorkel at three locations. One was a beautiful reef that had tons of coral and fish.

The next site was an old shipwreck. This was not too exciting, but still neat to check out.

The last stop is a snorkel with the sharks, and this was out of this world!

The bus then returns you to the pier. Very easy to do, and very affordable, and terrific snorkeling for a lot less then what you can get through the ship.

I have kids who are prone to motion sickenss. How rough was the boat ride to the snorkling areas and how long about is it? Also do you think a 9 yr old could handle it or not? Sh eis a good swimmer and not afraid of the water. Thanks Melissa

well, I am not sure about the motion sickness thing, they do take you out on a mid size boat that goes pretty fast from site to site. There are three stops in all.

We left the pier around noon, and didn't get back until about five thirty. I would say it was about forty minutes travel time each way because they stopped at a couple of hotels to pick up and drop off other folks going there.

Then it takes about twenty minutes to get checked in once you get there. The rest of the time you snorkel. I am guessing it was about ten or so minutes to get to the first site, and then the other sites were less then ten minutes to get to.

Yes, i believe a nine year old could handle it. My eleven year old didn't have any problems, but he has snorkeled a bunch in the past. The water is very deep though, so if you have worries about that, then it migiht not be a good excursion. I saw a couple other kids that were probably between five and six years old, and they didn't have any problems.

hope this helps.

Thank you for the info, I am still on the fence about this. I almost think it may be better for them to be able to snorkle from the shore for their first time. Still looking and we have lots of time! Thanks for the insight though. Melissa

What is the web address for Stuart's?
