Stop & Shop deal on gift cards...sort of

Ok, I'm back from Giant in PA. Was able to buy 12 $50 gift cards and got $120 back in Catalina's.

Here are some tips:
Your credit card might get flagged. Mine did after #6. A quick call fixed it, but it may happen.
My DH and I went through the line each time. We had the kids with us, so it was easier this way.
Catalina's expire 6/17, but that could change based on the day you buy it.
We could not roll the Catalina's into the next gift card. I plan to go buy Pampers for $9 plus a $1 item to use each one.
One store had signs up about 1 gift card per household, the other did not.
I'm going to enter all gift cards into the next Disney gift card app to keep track of them.

I don't think so. I believe that you are allowed to USE 1 coupon per transaction and GET 1 coupon per transaction. That is why I just kept using the coupon to purchase the next one....even though I felt a little funny doing that.

I just read all of the treads. Thanks for all of the info and tips. I saw this this morning in my local grocery ad -- Martins (WV) (Same as Giant in PA, but different name because of the Giant Food stores in DC). I plan to visit in a few hours to see how this all works out. You can't have enough Disney gift cards.

It's a free Disney Gift Card app from iTunes that you enter your card numbers in to keep track of them, refresh balances, etc. My DH found it for our iPad.

I bought 2 $50 GCs at Shoprite this afternoon, and got the 2 $10 coupons.

The Shoprite circular says you can't redeem the coupons til next week, but the coupons themselves just say that they expire on 6/23.

I'm hitting another Shoprite tomorrow, and will see if I can redeem the coupon, and if I can redeem it for more GCs.

Should I apply the gift cards or wait until closer to our arrival date?

Might as well pay it off now! Then you can toss the GC that you use. Less GCs to keep track of!!!

Just went to Giant (PA) where this promotion is running and did not have as much luck.

I purchased the first Giftcard (with scanning my bonus card) and the 10$ coupon printed out no problem. This was a single transaction.

The cashier rang up the next card and was unable to use the coupon for the gift card. He tried and tried and the computer system would not accept the coupon. The store manager even came over and called the company that issues the giftcards. He came out about 5 mins later explaining that the coupon would not work because cit cannot be applied to "credit" and gift cards counted as such. They were really nice and tried to help me, but it seems that you CANNOT purchase more gfift cards with this coupon.

I'm thinking it could possibly be a Pennsylvania state thing? I now someone in Jersey had the same issue above.

ALSO I purchased the second card even after all of this, they scanned my bonus card again and lo and behold NO coupon this time! I guess you can only get one per day with your card being scanned. So would try to purchase without having them scan your bonuscard to get more coupons. I will try again tomorrow without using the bonuscard and see if the coupon still prints out.

We went to Martins (which is the same as your Giant in PA) and the cashier also had a problem with the coupon, but she overrode it to make it go, but then she thought since she did that way, it might not generate the next coupon because it looked like I was only spending $40, so she undid it. I wasn't willing to take a chance that I would lose out on the coupon and since I do all of my grocery shopping here, I can certainly still use them. My store only had the $25 Disney GC, but going to a different one later today to check there. I will use my 2 $10 coupons when we go back for some sale items in the flyer this week! This is a great deal.

Don't toss the gift cards after applying them. If for whatever reason you might have to cancel or reschedule, the balance goes back on to the original gift cards. It's good to keep them until after the vacation, then toss.

I went to my Shoprite today. They don't carry Disney gift cards

I decided to buy Shell gift cards instead, since I will always need more gas. I was able to get the cashier to ring out two gift cards as separate transactions and both generated the coupons. I did not try to use the coupons, since she said that they cannot be used towards gift cards. I went back into line again 2x to buy groceries and used the coupons for those. The coupons showed up as 1.50 off instead of $10, so the manager needed to come over and override both times.

I will be back tomorrow to try again.

I'm not surprised you couldn't used the coupon to buy a gift card. I could not either. However, I was able to do 12 separate transactions, scanned my card, and got a coupon each time. Was your second gift card a separate transaction?

One store I went to had a sign up that said one gift card deal per card/household. The other store did not, so I hurried up and bought 12 before the rules changed there. We have about 5 Giants of PA all within 10 miles or less. I went to the two closest.

BTW, in my store they do not let use CC for this, only debit or cash. My store had only few of them left.

Interesting. I have my flyer right here and it doesn't say one per day, but like I said, one store had a sign. Sounds like it is a yymv type thing. And I used a cc for all of them.

I'm gealous of your store. When I saw today that they had only few Disney cards left, I wanted to open another card and buy one more but they told me no CC and I only had $50 on me just enough for one card. It is quiet stupid rule IMO.
