Stop & Shop deal on gift cards...sort of

So this is still working for us also. We have over $1000 in Disney GC for our September Disney cruise. We have 4 or 5 S&S near us. We went to one on Sunday and the manager gave us a problem and said we could not use the $10 coupon to purchase another GC - so I guess we will not be going to that S&S again. Just a few more days to go.

I wish I had some extra money - I would definately purchase more GC both for Disney and some to keep for gifts for the holidays. Maybe they will extend this special.

I noticed yesterday that the coupons that are printing at Giant are different this week than last - it now specifies coupon cannot be used to purchase gift certificates. Guess they caught on!

I bought enough gift certificates to pay off my September cruise and got $320.00 in groceries. My Giant will not let you combine the coupons into one transaction, so I needed to split them out - that was a pain, but well worth the savings!

I'm hoping they offer this special again - I would love to get more gc for our December cruise.

I guess it's possible that the coupon has changed at S&S also, but I didn't have it in my hand long enough to read it and the cashier just took it and swiped it. As long as it works in the register, they are using it.

My S&S isn't even batting an eye as I use these coupons.

I purchased a S&S GC yesterday and did not get that on my coupon but my DH purchased one this morning and called me that this was written on his coupon. We will try a few more because even if we can't use them for GC we can always use more food.

Well I was just able to pay off my entire Disney trip with Stop & Shop Disney gift cards. Here's what I was able to do:

*I bought $5,250 in disney gift cards (all $50 cards)

I was able to buy $10 S&S gift cards with each coupon the first 2 days of the sale (about $600 worth)

By the time I bought the 2nd batch of gift cards, I was only able to get the coupon (could not be used for S&S gift card) but my S&S let me roll it into the next gift card purchase of $50 and the $10 coupon would continue to print out even though I was only paying $40 for each card.

So in the end I payed my trip AND have about $600 in S&S gift cards (they don't expire)

I did speak to one of the managers (I went to 3 diff. S&S). She said I was lucky to be able to use those $10 coupons for $10 S&S gift cards the first 2 days b/c they all received a notice Saturday morning to not allow it from then on.

All in all, I saved 25% on my trip. 20% with the coupons and 5% cash back this month with my Chase Freedom. Woo hoo!

When I went on Saturday to get another $50 worth, my $10 coupon stated "coupon not redeemable on gift card purchases."
I did still use the old coupon, and I was buying a few other things that didn't add up to $10 so I still was able to use it to buy the gift card and cover the other items I was buying...I was thinking they might make me get over the $10 because my total after the coupon was $49 and change, but they didn't. It's still a terrific deal.
