Star Wars Weekends 2011

we're booked 5/26-6/6 to cover our bases in case SWW is moved to June. If it starts on the 19th (I think it will) then we'll plan on arriving on the 18th instead.

You think it will start on a Thursday (19 May 2011) this year? :confused3

I think it has been announced- Other sites list the following SWW:

May 20-22
May 27-30
June 10-12

oops - sorry I missed it - June 3 - 5 too

I have deleted the old information

That said - easywdw lists all four weekends as SWW, these dates are also listed on some of the pay sites as well.

Oh no dont be embarrassed. I didnt want that at all. I am just sitting here hoping and praying I booked the right dates for SWW. No worries or embarrassment at all please.

Thanks for the info.:flower3:

No way to get bcv in late May-June at 6-months, and that's where you'd want to be.

We got BCV villas 7 months out last year, studio. It's definetly worth a shot to try. This year we are staying at AKV.

I got Boardwalk at short notice last year too. (About 4 months out)

I don't have enough points for Boardwalk this year so I have Thur-Fri at the Dolphin (will do Star Wars all day Friday) and the next 2 nights at Kidani.

This is all assuming that SWW will take place on Memorial Day weekend the way it did last year.

Hey- thanks. Actually we booked at 11 months for three of the weekends. Well we have 5/26-6/6 and Kidani 6/8-6/17, we booked that hoping for three weekends. We realized that as our kids get older in school we'll just have a longer summer break rather than spring or fall.

We figured those would be the weeks, I don't know if those unofficial web sites are doing the same sort of figuring as we are or if they've heard something, but I don't think an "official" announcement has been made.

But you know my point, it would be nice they announced it enough time for home resort not to have to "guess" or "take a shot," you know? You'll love AKV, Kidani is one of my favorite places.

We'll be attending the third weekend, specifically Saturday 6/4. Is there any chance of the crowd being lower the 3rd weekend or would it still be wall-to-wall people? This will be our first SWW, and I'm planning on taking DS(7) to RD than right to Jedi Academy. DHS opens at 9am that day. What time should we plan to arrive at the park? 8? DW & two DDs will meet us later that morning when they get up and moving.

My hopeful accomplishments that day...
Jedi Academy
Star Tours
SW Parade
Some character (probably not stars) meet & greets

We've never ridden TSM and probably won't this trip either.

We have been three times on this same weekend. We will be back again this same time, but right now we are planning on going to Star Wars weekend on the 11th to try and work in Fantasmic too.

I would expect to see a large crowd. I would not say wall to wall, but there will be a large crowd. The funny thing about the crowd on this day is that it will go many directions. Large numbers will still head to TSM. Many head to ToT and RnRC. A big group will (should) be there to get fastpasses for the weekends stars. I would be bet a decent size will head to Star Tours area for the Jedi Academy.

We were lucky and got the Jedi Academy done on our Christmas trip on the 19th of Dec. Just as an example our son got to be in the 1st show. Even then there were a full 30 kids in his show. I would head straight to Jedi Academy to sign up at rope drop. Remember you child has to be with you to sign up.

Friday of Memorial Day weekend was actually a very good day to spend at SWW. It was crowded but not as crowded as I remember. Part of the reason is that it was a Friday (and not the first Friday) and another part was probably that all the featured celebrites were either voice actors or technical people - no on-screen celebs. The next weekend they had both Ray Park and Billy Dee Williams and the crowds were apparently huge.

We are excited to go again. AKV is our home resort. We were going to do BCV, but, decided to save points and do a value studio. You can't beat it for only 76 points. We are staying 5/28- 6/4.

no you absolutely can't beat that for 76 points. It is such a great resort.

Last year, I felt like it was a little less crowded on the last weekend than earlier ones, but there are probably a lot of variables - heat, celebrities, etc. at play. Also which night fantasmic is showing seems to matter.

Assuming that a SWW will be June 10-12, we are trying Friday for the first time. We normally do Sunday, but since Fri is no longer a DHS AM EMH day (plus Fri June 10 is DS's 8th bday) we decided to try a non weekend day.

Here's hoping WDW figures out a better location for the Hyperspace Hoopla this year :wizard:

Doers anyone have any more information about announcement dates? Last year SWWs were announced on Dec 22!

http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2009/12/star-wars-weekends-2010-dates-announced/

The year before, it was January 28. I'm waiting on flights and DVC point rentals until we're sure of the dates, but I already have ADRs for the target weekend. Since Disney requires so much advance planning for ADRs, this is really annoying. :sad1:

Funny how everyone's perspective is different. We went that day last year, it was DH's birthday and SWW on his bday was the deciding factor in our trip. We thought it was horrendously crowded. We waited 45 min for Darth Vader and were in line within the first 20 minutes of RD. Immediately after that we got in line for Bobba Fett (???) b/c that's DH's favorite and waited another 45 minutes in the blazing beating down sun with no shade to meet him. This was also the day I about clocked a full grown adult 40 year old man for stepping in front and on my (then) 4 yr olds toes to get an autograph. Then there was the Hoopla event we tried to get into (and had tried the previous sat/sun), we arrived earlier than any other time so far, before the last JTA show was started and still ended up way in the back of the crowd. After a twentysomething drunk girl tripped over DS in his stroller and a rowdy crowd of young men play shoving each other ran into DD we left. This was a good 45 minutes still before the show and our children already couldn't see the stage anyway. The entire area was full of people and no spaces were available left to see the show anyway. While DH loved SWW and the kids enjoyed it I would never ever ever subject my children to that again even if they do like it. It was insanity and the behaviour that we saw was not appropriate for children (to say the least and put it nicely).

Even the non SWW events and areas of the park were packed with FP's running out at all 3 E ticket attractions by mid day.
