Star Wars Weekend Touring Plan Advice??

I'm trying to plan my touring plan, and which days for which parks for our trip May 27th-June 4th. I'm trying to decide between two scenarios for touring DHS. Should we plan to go to SWW at DHS for one day, and do nothing but Star Wars stuff, and then go back a second non-SWW day to tour DHS as we normally would? Or, should we plan our two DHS days on both SWW days (probably Fri & Sun) and do both SWW things as well as all the regular DHS things on both of those days?

I guess my question is, can you get all the SWW things done in one full day if that's all you plan on doing? We'll like to meet characters but not actors, see the parade, Padawan Mind Challenge, Hoopla(?), Star Tours and Jedi Training. I also thought that if we tour DHS during the week, the park might be less crowded, and we'd be able to accomplish more.

Thanks! :)

Every time that we go to the Star Wars Weekends (which we absolutely love), we go once to DHS to do all the regular things at the park and then go another day just to do star wars things. The star wars events usually take up our whole day. I have three boys 13, 9, and 6. My husband sometimes takes the 13 year old and 9 year old on rides while I'll wait in line for characters or jedi training with the 6 year old. I think last year they got on 2 or 3 rides. You really can't do both in one day. Just waiting in line for the characters could take up your entire day. ( If you plan on seeing all the characters that they offer.) Darth Vader can be a very long line. So can the disney characters dressed up as star wars characters. When we went in 2009 we actually did the star wars twice and DHS once during the week.

I agree with whats been said already. You really need to treat SWW as a separate day. To echo about Darth Vader: treat him as a "headliner." You should hit DV first because his line gets really big. In 2009 we did SWW, my wife did the TSM FP dash while I got in line for DV with my son.

Dont miss the parade, its pretty awesome. And be sure to get to rope drop a little early cause there is a little preopening deal with stormtroopers.

Thanks for the great advice. I guess we will do one Star Wars day and one non-SW day during the week. I was nervous that we wouldn't get all of the Star Wars things done in one day, but it seems as if I focus on only Star Wars for the whole day we can get it done. Thanks!

I hate to be the dissenter, but if you want to see ALL the characters, it won't be done in 1 day. Some of the lines are just too long (ie Vader, Chewbacca, Jedi Mickey etc). Plus the characters share lines. For example, last year, it was the same line for Jedi Mickey, Princess Leia Minnie, Darth Goofy/Stormtrooper Donald. They rotate every 20 minutes or so, so no guarantee that you will see them all. We never did get to see Princess Leia Minnie (or Chewbacca for that matter) and we were there from before opening until DHS closed.

This year we are hitting SWW for 2 days and a completely separate day for DHS touring.

Gotta agree with that for that for the most park. I was down in 08, was there for two weekend actually. Did one weekend mostly myself, but I did mostly SW stuff with other rides thrown in. The character stuff there in lies the challenge. I remember having difficulty seeing one of the disney star wars characters, I forget which one. As for the actual SW characters, the hardest part about it, is if it will rain. I know back in 08 they shoved them into Wicket's Warehouse.

They usually have backdrops there and put them there like 5-7 at a time I believe but you have to wait in a WICKED long line to meet them all at once. You go from character to character, it will stink if you've already seen a few of them once you get up there, but they do rotate them. Sometimes if the CM is nice you can get them to hold you back till the next rotation, if it's near.

Also the Hoopla is all dependant on rain as well. There was one time where I tried to go and it was trickling down and ending for the day but they still cancelled it. They don't want the characters out in the rain.

Thanks for the additional feedback. I think we'll try to plan at least 1 1/2 days for just Star Wars and an additional weekday for DHS. I guess we'll also have to be a little flexible with our plans in the case of rain, and not being able to get as much done. We may have to cut back on Epcot being only 1 1/2 days instead of our planned 2. Our main focus is SWW as we've never done it before, and I have 2 SW obsessed boys (3 if you count DH)

One other question, do any of you recommed the AM EMH on SWW. There is one scheduled for the Saturday of our trip, but I think that that would tend to be the most crowded day of the weekend, so I don't know if that extra morning hour would be worth the additional crowds for the day. Thanks again. I really appreciate the insight.

The SWW stuff doesn't happen during EMH anyway. All it will do is clog up the park earlier with other people, so I would stay away from it if you can.

Thanks SuperMom for asking about SWW! We will be there the same time ya'll are there. We plan on touring DHS on that Friday as well.

It is our 1st SWW and we mainly want to see the characters and the Hoopla. I am assuming the Hoopla is the parade with just Star Wars characters in it, correct? Does anyone have an idea of when that takes place during the day and is it a one-time event that day? Any suggestions on best place to watch it?

Also, I know the Disney characters appear dressed up as SW characters, but what "real life" SW characters are there out and about during that time? I know about Chewie and Darth Vadar, but wondering about others.

Sorry so many questions, but we have no idea what to expect! :goodvibes

This is a thread from last year, but PrincessBetsy will be updating as this year's information comes available. It has great general infromation about SWW.

The way I understand it the Star Wars parade is separate from the Hoopla. The parade is, I think in the morning around 11:00ish??, and the Hoopla is more of a show near the Star Tours attraction at the end of the day. Not sure if this is totally correct. I'm still researching too.

The Hoopla is the end of the day show with the characters. (Think Dance Contest.) It is hilarious!! But the location STINKS!!!! It is too small of an area for the amount of people who want to see it.

Agreed! OMG! it's so scrunched and even trying to just walk through at that point in time is horrible. I can see why they would put the stage there but they should of or should find a way to make the area bigger.

One of the cool things about the hoopla is that the characters after they dance and is judged on, usually mingle in the crowd. I bumped into Princess Leia who I met earleir in the day, asked for me to root for her, so I ran into her and told her I tried but she said it was okay. It was very cool. I so wanna go back for SWW, the only unfortunate thing is that DF does not want to go back during that time of year.

How early do you need to be at the Hoopla location to get a good spot? Is it like staking out a parade spot?

worse. The Jedi Training Academy will be going on too and that only lends to the confusion. I really wish they would move this inside somewhere- like where the Padawan Challenge is- DISNEY ARE YOU LISTENING?????? :worship:

We've gone before and seen edi Mickey but not Goofy, Minnie..in their costunes for the photos. Are they all at the same location? For us it was to the left side of the center courtyard(left of the hat )
