Star Tours - Motion Sickness

I never have any problems riding Star Tours but always take Dramamine before we head to DHS . Last week during our trip we ended up at DHS unplanned.... so I hadn't taken anything and of course my DS wanted to ride. I did fine, however I did look away from the screen a few times when it was more intense. The funny thing was my DS was slightly woozy (just for about 10 mins.)after and it had never bothered him before. So you never know.

My suggestion would be to try it and if it starts to bother you just look off to the side of the screen but don't close your eyes and you should be fine (and maybe pop a dramamine at least an hour beforehand;))

Haven't been on the new Star Tours yet. Trying to figure out if our 4-year-old can (or should) go on with us or if we have to do a parent swap (which I haven't fully figured out).

My DD (7) is not big on thrill rides, but at age 5, Star Tours was one her her absolute favorite rides. At that age she hated BTMR(Still does), Splash and Test Track. I think for her it is because we told her going in that it would feel like she was going places, but the car really was just sitting in the same place and bouncing around. I think that made her feel much more secure than hurtling around a track on other rides! I'd say if your 4 year old wants to, then let he/she try.

Oh in addition to the tea-cups, I can't watch Bourne movies on the big screen either. After seeing the 2nd one, I was sick for about 2 hours, but I'm fine for Star Tours as long as I take breaks between rides.

As far as the comparison between Star Tours and Mission Space, I finally summoned up the courage to try the green (mild) side of Mission Space because I was worried it would make me really sick. I did not get sick at all. To me it had very much the same feel as Star Tours- other than the fact you are more enclosed on MS.

If you wish to ride Star Tours but are concerned about motion sickness, two PPs offered solid advice - sit in the back row. If possible, sit all the way in a back corner (first or last seats in the back row). These seats have the least movement and are furthest from the screen, both of which alleviate the issues that can create motion sickness on this attraction.

I've ridden it twice, was sick both times. The first time, I forgot my Dramamine, so I tried it again on the last trip. Mistake. I had to shut my eyes within 5 seconds, and keep them closed. BOTH times we were stuck on the front row though, but I'm done with it. I wish I wasn't affected, because I'm a Star Wars fanatic. If you are prone to motion sickness, be forewarned. (I've seen people mention Space at Epcot- HATE that. I'm beyond claustrophobic, I almost had a nervous breakdown on that, and didn't know where the emergency stop button was! Worst ride I've ever been on in my life..)

I can't imagine there is an E-stop that is accessible to guests. That would make ride stoppages skyrocket.

The CM's told us about it as they were locking us in, which was why I was looking for it. I wasn't paying attention to where it was, because I hadn't yet realized the ride was going to close all up, and that panel in front of me would tilt towards me, and end up 4 inches from my face. I rode the "mild side," too. My daughter rode the wild side, and they told her about an emergency stop button, too. I think it's just because it's so intense, and people have died on it. BUT I don't know, this is just my (and my family) experience..

Here's my tip:
Don't let anyone convince you to go on again when you are already feeling woozy from the first go on this ride!

Kids convinced hubby and I to exit ride & get right back on. Big mistake...especially for the hubster.

I can certainly understand your discomfort--it's very tight in there!
