SSMC2006 cruise friends

Yes we did take it out earlier this week

I will set the scene.................

Its a beautiful spring day. Perfect blue skies mid seventies breeze blowing and soon we are skimming over the lake at 57 mph. My wife and I are with my best friend Jeff . He has been helping us with boat info as he is an expert boater. We officially christened her Fire Escape with $$ Cognac. (not too much though).
FirstDayonthewater011-1.jpg

We enjoy 2-3 hours of gorgeous weather and wonderful boating. But all good things must come to an end. Its time to load the boat and return to reality. The Avalanche backs the trailer into the lauch area and I attempt to load it.

However the wind is blowing, oh 3-4 mph less than a hurricornado. So after a few fruitless attempts Jeff, the expert, takes over. on his second approach he lines us almost perfectly up, JUST as a gust of wind and a wave hit the boat....................

The sound of fiberglass hitting dock is not pretty, Neither is the broken spot on the Fire Escape.

SO it is up at the dealer to get repaired. He was very upset and although I was kinda diasappointed it happened, I wont be the first one to ding it up now!

OMG Steve you must be sick about the boat.

It sounds like you had a nice adventure out in the beginning. So sorry to hear it didn't have a better ending.

Oh Steve & Coleen - what a horrible first memory.

Hopefully she'll be good as new in no time.

Not to worry ladies. I think it will be good as new and if it isnt I will cover it with a HOOTERS sticker. Thanks for the good thoughts though.

Happy Mother's Day to all Mom's & Mommy's-to-be!! :flower1:

I hope all the moms had a nice Mother's Day.

My day was great and it started out with breakfast made by John and Deanna complete with Mickey waffles. We've had a steady stream of people this weekend stopping by to see my son David. He has accepted a transfer with his company from Grand Rapids, MI to San Diego, CA and he leaves tomorrow morning. It was like the old days when the kids were in high school and there was kids here all the time. I'm very excited for him to start this new life out there, but it will be tough to see him leave. He hasn't lived at home for 5 years but he's only been a 2 1/2 hour drive away not a 40 hour drive away.

Here are some pictures of what John made me for Mother's Day. Yes, he did this all by himself. I did have to give up my craft room for a few hours while he made it, but it was worth it. :goodvibes

Wow, Gail, that is one awesome gift! A very good reason to let John play in your craft room, for sure.

Gail, You may need a second chair in your craft room! He did a VERY NICE job!

Gail - John did an amazing job!

I think I pulled us up from page 500 (LOL) so what plans does everyone have for Memorial day weekend?

We're working more on the baby's room, going to see Indiana Jones and possibly purchasing a minivan :scared1: .

Speaking of minivans - who has one, what do you like, what do you hate and what would you look for if you were buying one? Oh and yes, we have an SUV already and well with a big ole dog we like the idea of having a car the entire family can ride in :)

John and I are going camping. We leave tomorrow when he gets home from work. Thursday is our 15th Anniversary so this is a little get away trip for us. Deanna has a soccer tournament that was planned after we had made our reservations and since it's a holiday weekend we can't cancel. There are a couple of other soccer families with weekend plans but the coach asked if he could have the girls for the tournament and the parents could have a weekend away. Well, he didn't have to ask us twice!!!! :yay: John's cousin and his wife are going to keep Deanna and spend the weekend at the soccer field with her.

Julie I've had a Chevy Astro mini van, Plymouth Voyager, and 2 Chevy Venture. Then we moved to a Chevy full size conversion van. The full size was my all time favorite but as far as the mini vans I like the Chevy Venture the best. Not sure if any of these are still made or not. I do like the fold in the floor seats that Chrysler has, maybe others have those too. I spent from 1987 until 2001 in a mini van  . Since then I haven't paid any attention to them. They were great with the kids! Good luck on the mini van shopping. Oh the power sliding side door is way cool!

Memorial Day weekend is going to be a little hectic around here. Gary & Cameron ae signed up to volunteer for this Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday:

http://www.costoffreedomtribute08.org/tour08.html

It's cool that it's coming to our hometown. Cameron is especially looking forward to the event.

That leaves me to contend with Walker & the hockey schedule. Toss in a daycare interview, and it's going to be crazy.

My kids are off of school on Friday. I'm thinking of taking Walker & the daycare kids to the opening preview for school kids only. While they are way to young to understand, I think it would still be a good experience.

Stacy, Cameron survived the Order of the Arrow initiation. It was last weekend and they only had a little bit of rain while sleeing outside. Now you can tell me the stories you have heard. :upsidedow

Enjoy camping, Gail. It looks like the weather here is at least going to cooperate.

Julie, before buying the 12 passenger, I had a Chysler mini van. I was happy with it and I keep telling Gary that it would make sense for him to replace his little car with one. Somehow or another, Gary doesn't think that's such a good idea as he doesn't want to drive a mini-van. :rolleyes1 Have fun shopping, I'd rather have a root canal than shop for a vehicle. :scared:

Sounds like we will have similar weekends.
We are going to get the Guest/craft room in order since we have company coming next weekend, plus we will be setting up our dining canopy up on the back deck and probably planting some flowers since I haven't done that yet because we had a new roof put on and had the wooden eves wrapped in aluminum so I wanted to wait till that was done before I got plants in the ground.

I've never had a mini van so I can't help you but the stow and go seats I think are great since you don't have to pull them out and then find a place to put them if you need more room in back.

Well we got Nick registered today for his Ordeal weekend. He will be doing his Fathers day weekend. Well I did hear about how they have to sleep under the stars rain or shine. I also heard that the boys can't talk all weekend long. Plus I heard that sometimes they pull pranks during the nights so it will be interesting. One of the assistant scoutmasters from our troop will be there that weekend working in the kitchen so he said he will keep an eye on Nick and let us know how he does. They start to tell us some things and then they hold beck and get these s@#t eating grins on there face and start talking about something else so it wil be intersting to see what Nick says about it after he completes it.

No real plans here except spending some more time at Baby Max's house - helping the new parents work on their house again - and of course hanging out with Christopher too - he's supposed to help me plant some flowers. Getting ready for a wedding and a quick trip down to WDW in June. Looking forward to a few days of fun, fun, fun and some heat - it's been way too cool here for me.

Happy Memorial day weekend everyone.

We are not doing anything special this year. We have our last regular season soccer game today. Next weekend is All-Stars and then travel try-outs. Tuesday is crossover for Nick - he will be a WEBELO...

On the home front - I think I will paint the dining room again... at somepoint I will get the color right. Rich is working on the deck.

Julie good luck on van shopping - I really like the Dodge/Chrysler stow and gos - we had a rental once and it was just great.

Cindy - have fun with hockey this weekend.

No plans for us this weekend. We just got back last night (at 1:30 a.m.!) from Denver. Dana wants to open a yarn shop out there, so we went with her to scout out a retail location and look for a place for her to live. We did find a living space and put a hold on it, but the person we need to talk to about the retail space we looked at was out of town. He should be back on Tuesday, so Ken will be giving him a call to start the negotiating.:hyper2:

Have a great weekend everyone!

Thanks everyone for your tips (again I think as I prob posted a question a few months ago... go figure prego brain)!

We purchased a Town and Country - I will be back later today to post a photo as well as a new baby photo - he/she apparently is going to keep growing and um I'm not sure what clothes are going to fit soon.

Good luck Dana. pixiedust:

Congratulations on the mini-van Julie & Matt! :drive: The Town & Country is what I'd like Gary to eventually buy - although he sees things a little differently. ;)

As for the baby, I'm sure you have read that the last couple of weeks is when the baby gains the most weight. Your in the home stretch now, hang in there.

Happy Friday all! Just wanted to drop in and say :wave2: !

I left on Saturday for Alaska(never thought I'd go there, anything more than 3 hours on a plane, I am going nuts! But it wasnt as bad as I thought!) my best friend's grandfather passed, and her mom phoned and said she wasnt taking it too well, could I possibly make it up for the wake and funeral. I had Saturday-Monday off, so I made a few calls and arranged to have Tuesday and Wednesday off, and went up there Saturday afternoon! I must say it was very bittersweet for me, I havent seen my friend in almost 3 years, and had only seen one of her sons when he was a baby, so in that aspect it was wonderful! But it was sad that it took a death to get me up there! I'm sure now that I have gone once I will go again before 3 years goes by!

Well I have work piled up, so its back to work I go! Hope all have a great weekend!
