SSMC2006 cruise friends

Well Jeff & I made it back from our weekend campout. Of course it rained and was cold all weekend (except when we were leaving).
No lie the sun came out as we were walking to the car to leave!!!
We had some awesome meals though (the garbage can roast was my favorite). The whole weekend was a final training for Scout leaders so now Jeff & I are considered officially "trained"
We rushed home Sunday to wash our uniforms and then off to an Eagle Ceremony for one of the boys in our troop that night. Needless to say Jeff stayed home today and the only reason I went to work is because I had a morning meeting and then I was home right after that.

Diana - Am I hearing wedding bells?

Julie - good luck on your dress hunt.

Steve - Nice boat!! You and Coleen are going to have some fun with her and I love the name.

Cheryl - Thanks for sharing the pics of Jeff's new haircut!

Nice boat, Steve & Coleen! Enjoy taking your maiden voyage tomorrow. I love the first picture, very clever.

Mary, it looks like spring arrived here today. :cheer2: I needed the encouragement!

It sounds like a busy weekend, Stacy. Good for you with the training. I have a confession. With all the years I was a leader in Cameron's cub scout den, I never went to but 1 training class. :rolleyes1 Shhh, it's our secret. That's probably part of why I'm not interested in being a leader for Walker's den. I think I couldn't get away with it again.

Cameron's going in a couple of weeks on his Order of the Arrow campout. Much to his disappointment, it's the same weekend that he was suppose to go on a shooting campout. There will be other campouts and shooting opprotunities - apparently the OA comes back into play when the boys start working on Eagle and those boards of review, so it's fairly important from what I understand. Any other weekend and I'm sure Cameron would be thrilled.

I am very glad that today is over. Friday Cameron brought home a note from the principal saying that an incident was going to occur at school today. The police deemed it non-valid and school was open today yet many kids chose to stay home - including my own. All day long I listened for those frightful sirens which never happened and I was very glad when the school day was over that all the kids and staff were safe. I heard from a friend, whose son was in school today, and she called mid-afternoon to see how things were going, that she thought she talked to a crisis intervention counselor when she called, just based on the way the phone conversation went. They actually encouraged her to call back later in the afternoon. Hopefully this is the last of this stuff. It's such a sad world that we live in when kids can't even go to school and know they are safe. :sad2:

Nice boat Steve! Love the name you gave her!

Would someone be so kind as to tell me the story behind Jeff's haircut?

Beautiful day in Chicagoland :sunny: Perfect boat weather! Hope your having a blast Steve & Coleen! :boat:

Sure. I'll try. I called Jeff to see if he had any journals but he didn't have any but he said he was going to get a haircut at MK.

Todd and I went to the studios and the block party bash. We're still trying to figure out where are the best places to see it from.
Then after we met Jeff in MK at the barbershop.

Jeff had Michael the barber who asked Jeff if he wanted anything special. (He didn't) Todd took photos and Michael had decided that Jeff was going to be in a flower and garden festival theme. I've told Todd that next time he needs a haircut we'll go to MK and Jeff can help the barber decide.

Jeff asked me to share the photos with everyone.

Cheryl

I know another Jeff who had his hair cut at the MK last year and had a similar do

It's one of the fun things the barbershop does - I have friends (yes adults) who get it done each trip!

So Cameron got elected too. Congratulations to him. Nick will be called out at the Spring Camporee on the 17th. It will be interesting to see your post after Cameron goes thru "The Ordeal" weekend for OA. I don't know if you have heard any stories about those weekends but I have and they sound very interesting, it's not called the ordeal for nothing.

Ok so let me get this straight. The school sent home a note to forewrn you about an incedent that was going to happen at the school. That sounds a little weird.

Ah yes I remember that day well.
That's what happens when you don't ask for something specific and you are there during the Flower & Garden Festival. It was a hoot though. I thought the best part was other people asking Jeff if they could take a picture of his new look!!

Steve - nice boat!

Is Diana back from the concert yet?

We came back from the concert on Sunday night, but we had friends from NY up at Disney so the girls and I spent all day yesterday with them at Epcot.

The concert was awesome. We were on the field in the big crowd but the only bad section was the group right up front against the railing. It was a little frustrating because they kept stopping the taping asking people to move back because the people in the front row were getting hurt. People would move back and step right forward again. I saw some of the footage on Extra and if you pause it on the crowd scenes you can see us standing there.

They did the taping for the winners announcement 4 times so we don't know who the winner is. But Miley Cyrus was there announcing the winners and well my Emma was just freaking out---Miley AND the Jonas Bros standing right there in real life in front of her was enough to send her over the edge.

Miley sang first, then the Cheetah Girls, then Jordan Pruitt (who I didn't know) then Demi Lovato and the Camp Rock people along with the Jonas Brothers.

It was awesome and even Bruce enjoyed it.

I remember that too. :lmao:

I think that's Michal's way of saying, you can't tell me what you want, I'm gonna give you flowers---that will teach you!!! :lmao: We've seen several guys, mostly "big burly manly man" types with flowers in their hair, so I think Michal really enjoys doing it!!

I wasn't sure if you stayed at disney or not. I hear that some of the stars were staying at AKL.

Stacy - LOL yes that was interesting that day :D

This is usually the week we come down when we lived in NY, and in comparison to years past, the parks are very crowded. We were at MK Saturday, Epcot Sunday and Epcot again on Tuesday and they were equally crowded every day. I'm talking 60-70 min for Soarin and test Track by 11am. 30-40 mins for Nemo and 30 mins for Spaceship Earth. Who the heck waits 30 mins for SE??? Yesterday about 2pm the line for Maelstrom was 40 mins. :confused3 No thank you.

Be prepared - POWER post coming!!!
Hey everyone - sorry that we've been MIA here in Florida. Life has been really hectic, and again, I have kept up with you guys, just no time to post!!! So, here it goes!!!
HAPPY (belated) BIRTHDAY STACY!!!!!!!!!!!

We had an interesting wake-up call this morning. We are only about 50 miles from the epicenter of the earthquake that happened. Ken and I both sat up in the bed and said "Earthquake!" It was one of the longest quakes I remember...about 30 seconds. We are fine, and as far as we know there is no damage to our house.
Yikes!!! We might have hurricanes, but earthquakes are so random that I'm not sure how I would react!! But, I'm glad to hear that all is ok!!!

Here is my lovely wife with her new hairdo

Nice new do, Coleen!!!
Here is BUDDY and Nick

Awwww, adorable!!!! They look like they're the best of friends!!!

Just got back to work about an hour ago, I spent the morning with my Grandma at the hospital...She has been diagnosed with congestive heart failure, and they admitted her. My mom came to the hospital, so I went back to work to catch up on paperwork and the other things.
I sure do hope that Grandma is better now!!!
Baby Max finally arrived last night - Maxwell Carter Soronen 8 lbs 10 oz

So cute!!! Congrats to you and your family!!!

Fortunately, Nick Jonas isn't hard up for cash, and I'm sure Disney would lend us the Castle for a night as a favor for all the cash he's brought them. :lmao:
Ok, now I DEFINITELY want to be invited to that wedding!!!

Nice boat Steve!!! I hope that you were able to take it out this week!!!

Sure. I'll try. I called Jeff to see if he had any journals but he didn't have any but he said he was going to get a haircut at MK.
That's 'cuz I have a bunch that I'm working on this week and Jeff will have them next week. Then, I'm officially done with CJs. Just waiting for mine to come back!!!

Awesome to both Nick and Cameron!!!

Sounds like it was a blast!!! Too bad that we couldn't make it!!!

WHEW!!! I'm all caught up!!!!

So, we're officially done with competitive cheer season for this year. We have a break now until July, when Flag Football starts up again. And, if I could figure out where Chris hid the pictures on his new computer, I would post one (maybe later - otherwise I'll never send this post). Anyway, and I'm not sure why, but I agreed to coach flag cheerleading next year (what was I thinking?!?!?!). But, this will be the one and only year that Emily and Madison will be in the same age division, since it spans 3 years (4-6yr olds), because all the other divisions are 2 yrs. So, hopefully it'll be fun.

And, my other news. A few weeks ago, I was asked by the director of our school if I could substitute for our middle school math teacher for a week, while she took our 8th graders to Wash DC. Since I have a math degree, she figured that would be a logical choice for her. And, since our technology teacher is leaving, and the math teacher expressed an interest in moving over to technology, there's going to be an opening in math for next year. So, our director wanted to see if it might be something that I'm interested in.

So, I subbed for one week and it was actually fun. The kids were like typical middle school kids (not unlike the 3 yr olds that I'm around in the preschool), but overall it was fun. So, I'm waiting to hear from our director about next year. I have been told by the current math teacher, a few students, teachers and parents that the kids liked me, so that's a plus already. So, we'll see!!! If I do get it, it's a win-win-win for me because it means a) more money, b) regular school schedule (no aftercare) and c) a bigger tuition discount!!!. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

And finally, the girls and I just got back from our weekend in Virginia (which is why I missed the Disney Channel concert). My oldest niece (and god-daughter) was having her 1st Holy Communion this weekend. So, the girls and I flew up on Thursday afternoon, and came home on Sunday afternoon. Kailey looked absolutely stunning and adorable all at the same time.

And, while we were in VA, Chris was in Jacksonville at a regional Barbershop convention where his chorus sang fabulously. They have their international convention in Nashville in July, so they're getting ready. They sang the best in their region this weekend, so they're hoping that they perform well in July and make it into the top 15 choruses. I keep teasing that they have to do well at their regional competition in the fall, because if they do, they get to compete again at Int'ls and those are in Anaheim in 2009. Disneyland, here I come!!!

Good afternoon! I have MIA lately, things have been a little bit crazy...I was in SC for work this last weekend, and tomorrow I leave for Disney for the weekend.

As far as my grandma goes, she stable, not really doing alot better, but well enough that I feel comfortable leaving town. Her liver and kidneys did shut down and we were really concerned, but she has regained some function in both. My uncle ended up down the hall from grandma at the hospital on Saturday...He had a heart attack. He is doing well and expected to make a full recovery. So lots of visits to the hospital in the last few days along with alot of work.
I'm going to try to play catch up here...If I forgot anyone...I'm sorry!

Steve...Nice boat...Glad to see you finally have it! Make good use of this summer!

Cheryl...Those are great pics of Jeff's haircut...I have never been duting the flower show, so thats the first I have seen a haircut like that! Very Interesting...I think I may get Tim a cut like that some day!

Julie...Good Luck on the dress shopping, and have a safe trip!

Diana...Sounds like Krystina and Haylee have some competition for the Jonas brothers...Krystina thinks shes going to marry Nick, and Haylee doesnt care, she likes all 3 of them....Oh boy am I trouble! The girls wanted to go last weekend so bad, but we had already booked the trip for work. Wait until I tell them Miley was there! They will be upset!

Stacy...Sorry to hear about the camping, I am not a camping person at all...So for it to be wet and cold it must have been awful...Hopefully the next time the weather is great!

Cindy...Thats scary, I dont know if I would sent either of the girls to school after a note was sent home! Its unbelievable the things that happen at schools today! I went to private school until 8th grade, so I was pretty sheilded, but HS was public, and nothing like it is now. The biggest thing we worried about was fist fights and girl fights in the hallways! And that was a rare occurance.

Whew...I think I got it all...Sorry for the long post!
Well I hope that everyone has a great weekend!
