SSMC2006 cruise friends

Tina, I'm glad you were able to be there for your friend. I'm sure it meant a lot to her to have you there.

Hope everyone is good. Summer vacation starts at today for my kids. :scared1:  :scared1:

I don't worry about Cameron, as he's older and will soon be on a different schedule than the rest of us - up all night, sleeping all day. And, this year, he has a job - a real job which pays real money working at the concession stand at the baseball field. Good thing that's at night so he can still keep his late hours.

Walker is the hard one to entertain. At his age, he doesn't always want to go where I go with the daycare kids. Or, when he goes, it's different because he's with us and can have more freedom and then the little 2 year olds think they should get the same amount of freedom. I'm sure we'll find a happy medium. Walker is also young enough where a couple of weeks from now, he'll be ready to go back. Good thing for him is he has a friend who lives at the end of the block so they play together quite often - especially when it's nicer and they can travel between both their houses. Something tells me it's going to be a long summer.

Julie, it won't be long now ---- how are you feeling?

Lucky you Cindy, the girls have until Thursday(1 hour) and then they are finished! Krystina starts summer school on Monday for three weeks and Haylee and Lauren start VBS for the week. This is the 1st year that the girls won't have a planned summer with daycare...So I'm waiting to see how bored they are. We really don't have anything planned except a trip to Mackinac Island with Krystina's girl scout troop, we decided to leave a day early and stay at Great Wolf Lodge in Traverse City, the girls should love it there!

Hi there eveyone, I am sorry for being MIA lately but we have been very busy. I am in the middle of an 8 day stretch working the bulance or the FD. AND our boss on the bulance has been a jerk lately. I finally heard from Basspro and supposedly things are moving forward on our boat. Apparently 4 weeks MAY be long enough :confused3 Coleen has been working a bunch too. She is going on a field trip with the grand daughters Saturday. I may get to go boating. I leave for the Canada trip fishing with my dad in 17 days.:cool1: I hope all of you are doing well and I will try and visit more often.

Hey, I'm here. Just been really busy. John and I hosted a bowling fundraiser for his Aunt's Relay for Life team. We had a good time and ended up raising a nice sum of money for the American Cancer Society.

Tina, sorry about your friends grandfather. It's nice that you were able to be with her though.

Cindy, yikes summer vacation already! Our kids have 1/2 days on Wednesday & Thursday next week and that's it for them. Then Deanna goes to her new sleep schedule of getting up at 1:00 PM.

Steve makes the news again. :thumbsup2 Hey that picture looks like the same kitchen you were in when you were making the chili ;)

Steve - that recipe sounds very yummy - wish I had the energy to make it. I think I'll print it out and see if someday someone in the family (or me) makes it for a nice change. Thanks for sharing!

Cool article, Steve. You must have a friend at the newspaper as I remember the one about the chili as well. I love the line about enjoying to dine at Hooters because of the scenery --- what scenery would that be? :rotfl: ;)

Steve, Great article! I'm going to try that lasagna for Tim one of these days! I know he'd like it, I'm not a seafood person at all!

Gail, Congrats on the fundraiser! Isnt that always a good feeling knowing that the money earned goes to a good cause! Lately the extent of my fundraising has been for either the school or girl scouts, but I know that the kids will always benefit from it!

Hi everyone! I'm thinking of all the fun we had together on the cruise just now and thought I'd stop by to say hi!

HI LILY!!!

Steve - ooh that sounds good... what time should I be there :D

How is everyone enjoying the start of summer? It's hotter than heck down here already so we're staying inside... we love our AC :thumbsup2

Yesterday we had our 34 week sonogram and found out that the baby is breech but we have a lot of fluid (good news) so there is a chance the baby can turn back to head down. I am also going to our Chiropractor on Monday and probably several times next week to see if he can help us with some simple, safe adjustments that might encourage the baby to move.

I will ask Matt to take a more current photo this weekend but I thought I would share this one - it's so special as it was a lovely lunch and a great day (we visited with old friends, went to a wedding and enjoyed some couple time too)

and then one Walker took of the baby!

Julie...You will be in my thoughts and prayers that the baby turns around for you! I'm glad that there is enough fluid to turn around! Krystina was breech, and I had very low fluid, so they told me at 26 weeks there was no way she could turn because of the low fluid, so I knew early on and dealt with it that she was going to be a c-section...Things worked out ok, and I had Haylee the same because of I had the choice at the point! Good Luck!!!

Hi Lily!!! Good to see you!

Great pics Julie! Thanks for sharing. And I will be happy to cook whenever you visit!

Lily, nice to see you!

Hey, Julie, I think I recognize those people in that picture. ;) We enjoyed having lunch with the three of you. In fact, my kids wanted to do it again the next day.

Enjoy your weekend everyone. :hippie:

Nice pictures Julie! Hey, I know those people in your photos too!

It's been hot, hot, hot here. I think we skipped spring and went straight to sweltering. We've had some pretty bad storms the past couple of days too.

Busy weekend here between Deanna's PJ party Friday, spending all of Saturday at the high school football field for Relay for Life and then graduation parties today. Deanna has 2 full days and 2 1/2 days this week and then school is over for the summer. WooHoo we get to sleep in on Friday :cool1:

Gail - glad to see you posting - I was wondering about you guys yesterday when some of those nasty storms went up your way! Hope all are okay by you.

Leaving on Tuesday morning for "my happy place - WDW" - can't wait to leave here for a little bit.
I'm taking Christopher and his momma down for a special trip just for him. We'll be coming back on Saturday night but at least I am finally getting away for a few days - it's been way too long!

Stay safe everyone with all this crazy weather!

We missed most of the storms yesterday since we were at a graduation party out near your area. Then we decided to stop at the Camping World store on 94/275, by the time we got home it was raining pretty heavy but the winds were not too bad. Driving down Hall Road without any traffic lights was interesting! A lot of people are without power still. Deanna got the day off school because her school was one of the ones effected by the power outages.

Looks like we're going to get some more nasty storms later today. But I'm loving the 90 degree temps!!!!

Hi there everyone.:goodvibes

I know I too have been MIA for a bit. We have been busy on the house and had friends over last weekend then I got sick and ended up with bronchitis (yuck).
The last 4 days have been over 90 degrees here so we have been melting. Jeff & I have to go out in just a little bit for a Boy Scout Leaders mtg and the rest of the week we will be helping Nick get ready for his Order of the Arrow ordeal weekend so we have been go go go. With the heat and the hectic schedule we just haven't turned the computer on much.

Steve - Great artice!!! I will have to try that recipe when it cools down around here since I don't want to turn the oven on.

Julie - Keeping my fingers crossed that "George" behaves and gets turned around for you to hopefully make things easier!!

Well Nick has school until the 24th, but his last 5 days are half days so I have a little bit till I have to worry about that. He will be with my parents during the day other then when we take a trip in August or for Boy Scout summer camp.

We have had the wackiest weather. Bad storms out towards Steve & Coleen as well as Tina & Tim. Lucky for us, they haven't hit directly by us. I don't recall an early summer with so many tornado warning in any recent year. I hope we're all done with all that now.

I can't believe some of the kids are still in school. It feels like my kids have been out forever. :headache: Cameron actually is pretty good, sleeping until noon. I have no idea what time he crawls into bed, as I am long asleep by then. Good thing his job doesn't start until 6 p.m. so he still has an afternoon to lounge. I hear this is the last year of that, as most incoming freshman attend summer school as well as band camp. I keep telling Cameron to enjoy it while he can because his days of freedom and doing what he likes are numbered. Time is going so quickly now -- Gary just asked Cameron tonight "how was work". :faint: I'm so not ready for this.

Walker is ready to go back to school already. It's going to be a long summer. I'm bored, I have nothing to do, will someone play with me, can we go to the pool, etc. etc. etc. It's going to be a long summer.

Stacy, good luck to Nick with the OA!!

Really crazy weather here too. It was 90 the past couple of days and today it's 70. Deanna's school was without power Monday and Tuesday so she missed her last 2 full days. Tomorrow and Thursday are half days and they have to cram 6 finals into those two 1/2 days.

Deanna picked up a babysitting job for over the summer. About 15 hours a week watching the little girl next door while her mom works. Combine that with volleyball camp and soccer camp and maybe a trip to see her friends in Florida her summer is already packed.

So guess what John and I did? We joined a motorcycle club. No we're not Hell's Angels or anything. It's a very family oriented riding group focused on charity events, riding and eating! Right now I'm a passenager on John's bike but we're looking into getting me my own :moped:

Tomorrow we're doing a ride to a school to meet the kids there. In Sept we are doing a charity ride to raise money to buy them accessible playground equipment. The school only has regular playground equipment and there's about 25 kids that need accessible equipment so at this time they can't go outside to play due to insurance reasons. Tomorrow we're taking pins and tee shirts to the kids and letting them sit on the bikes and taking their pictures. Should be a fun day!

The storms were bad by us, but they were worse south of us! The tornado sirens went off on Saturday evening while I was cleaning, and getting ready for a few friends to come over. I looked outside, and didnt see or hear anything, then I went and checked the local radar and weather...They said a tornado was on the ground in a few suburbs south of us, I was concerend about the girls as they were with their dad at a picnic in Lemont, I called them and they said they were fine, so I just continued to watch to make sure that I was in an ok area, and it all passed. We had a little clean up of tree branches and debris, but otherwise it was just alot of rain, thunder, and lightening for us.

This weekend we are heading up to Mackinac Island with Krystina's girl scout troop. They are leaving on Monday morning to arrive in the evening. We decided to leave Sunday early, so we could make it to Traverse City by 9am. We are going to spend the night at Great Wolf lodge, and then head up Monday afternoon to Mackinac Island. The girls don't know about Great Wolf! I have never been to either, but I have heard great things about both!

Gail...Good for you and John...Sounds like alot of fun! Good Luck on the bike shopping! I have never been on a motorcycle...I am petrified!

Stacy...We had that 90 degree muggy weather for a while, now its not so bad, I think I got used to it! Its 86 today, and I'm not complaing, it could be snowing! I hope things slow down a bit for ya!

Mary...Have a great trip! Say hi to Mickey for me!

Cindy...I'm sure come the week after next the girls will complaing about how bored they are...This week Krystina has summer school, and Haylee and Lauren have Vacation Bible school. Then next week we are gone until late Wednesday...So they won't be complaining until that Monday hopefully! After that I'm sure I'll be in the same boat as you, wanting summer to end real fast! Today Tim has the day off, so they were swimming in the backyard earlier! Good Luck with Walker!
