SS Tips and Tricks

Just booked October/November F&W trip at SSR. Hoping to switch to BCV or BWV at 7 months but not counting on it. We love SSR so if we can't move we're fine with it.

We just left Saratoga Springs, the Grandstand Section. The walk to the Springs/Carriage House took all of 3 minutes from our room...9623.

We loved this resort! Another good thing about the Grandstand section....it is the first stop on the bus loop, so I always had a seat. I never waited longer than about 15 minutes for a bus.

Thanks for all the great tips. We have holding points that can only be used two months out. We are planning on going the last week in April or the first week in May. I am expecting that we won't have much choice in locations, and since SSR is the largest I am thinking we may get in there. From this thread, it sounds really nice. We were very pleasantly surprised when we stayed at OKW on short notice, and we're thinking SSR will also be an unexpected treat because we pretty just stay at the BWV, although we are trying AKV for three nights on this upcoming trip.

Back to SSR, as far as location goes, what I gathered so far is this: Springs are the closest buildings to everything, Grandstand is second and Carousel is farthest away from everything. Any other building pros or cons?

One more question: Is the path to DTD lit at night? Do you feel completely safe walking back from dinner in the dark? It sounds like it's too close to drive. I get so hyper in these situations and DH is always, "You worry too much."

We are staying at Grandstand now - just a tip - if you have a lot of luggage etc. there are no luggage carts available. You will need to ask for bell services and they will bring a cart and take your luggage to your room. Didn't know that at check in - but will certainly use it when we check out. We had to make quite a number of trips since there was only the 2 of us.

Another tip for those who are Owners Locker users. Its pretty easy to have bell services bring your Owners Locker to the room. On our last trip we asked Bell Services to drop off our locker after we got our room assignment from the desk. They loaded our locker onto a cart and gave us all a ride to our room! :cool1:

The problem was when we were checking out. Bell Services can get pretty backed up and getting the Owners Locker back to them might take a long time. Most people have wheels on their luggage so dragging your suitcases can be done, but the Owners Locker is big & bulky & heavy. On our last trip after waiting over 1 1/2 hours for Bell Services, I decided to just carry it myself. Big Mistake! I'm going to buy one of those folding luggage carts for my next trip and will keep it in my locker. SSR is beautiful and I'm looking forward to many more vacations there, but I'll never carry another Owners Locker further than 10 feet again!
