Squirts, Shirts, and Flirts, The Legend Continues 2 weeks in FW(wrap up #2 new 11-17)

Chapter 5. Num Nums!

2 explanations, 1. Num Nums are food, that is what we started calling food for parker when he was a baby and now that is what we call it, he wont say food no matter what, but he will say num nums, so there you have it.

#2. this will be a shorter update, there is not much left for that first evening, so i will finish it off and then the next chapter will start our Epcot first day in the parks update.

So everyone is familiar with our 27 modes of transporation that we took to get to this point in the evening, and we finally have arrived to our WL dinner destination via boat from the contemporary.

We were pretty excited about this, and it was skillet time.

They have the never ending shakes, here, so we ordered those for our beverages, they could also have been your deserts if you wanted...candi and nana picking out there shake flavors.
DSC01458.jpg

everyone got the skillet except candi who got the pot roast, she said it was okay, but not her favorite.

the skillet came out and we started to dig in, well parker wont eat chicken without ketchup so we asked for some...our waitress was pretty good, she was in good character,
DSC01460.jpg

here is a video of the ketchup delivery.
parker is not sure at first what is going on.

DSC01462.jpg

and right after they dropped it off we got a call for ketchup at another table.
DSC01464.jpg

now everyone at my table said im not taking it, so what happened, well oll daddio stepped up and grabbed as many as i could hold onto.

i then looked at the kids at the table next to me and said
"hey come with me and help me deliver this"
they didnt even hesitate they jumped right up. and soon we were headed off to the other side of the restraunt.

lesson learned: parents at disney are trusting and will let there kids go with strangers to deliver ketchup.

not sure this is a good lesson but it is true...

i have to say dinner was very good, besides the baked beans i liked it all, the beans were not really cooked to make them soft, they were still pretty hard.

the chicken was good, nice flavoring so was the ribs.

pulled pork was really good, just need more of the extra BBQ sauce they give you.

and the briscuit was awesome best i have ever had...actually it was the first time i have had it, so not sure what to compair it to,:confused3
but it was very good flavor and fall apart tender.

maybe someone that reads this thread who owns a BBQ joint can give me there reciep how to make it at home good...hint hint hint hint hint hint hint hint.

:goodvibes

not singling anyone out or anything.

for desert we had 3 orders of the fruit to go, which was huge, one portion feed 3 people, and 1 order of the smore cheesecake, which was okay, a little heavy on the smore flavor but not bad.

after dinner we hung out in the WL lobby area for a while just checking things out, parker of course found some to do with trains and loved it.

DSC01465.jpg

his love for trains grew ever more on this trip, if there was ever a time we were going to change things we were going to do and he did not want to we explained how the next things had something to do with trains, and he was all for it...no some will say this might be lying, we say it is interpritation.

for example: we are going on the pooh ride now, parker says no no no...we say but it is a hunnypot that travels on a skinny little track like a train, he says okay.
:thumbsup2

see poohs hunny pot is a train ride= interpritation.

we could have opted for a boat ride back over to FW then take a bus or walk to our site, but we were feeling lazy and one nice thing about WL and FW transporation is there is a bus that goes between WL and FW and it is the same bus that travels right by our loop, so we took that home.

once home, it was present time for parker, he got the 2 cars that my parents bought him in DTD that evening, they got him the bus and monorail disney racer cars.

DSC01469.jpg

he loved them of course and added them to his collection.

sorry this is not as long as the other updates.

next udate will start the parks.

i hope everyone has a good 4th of july weekend, and for our friends reading abroad or via a neighborhing country hope you enjoy the weekend where you are...and if you feel like it shoot off a firework or 2.

Glad u got a good waitress at WCC. It makes al lthe difference. ours sucked when we went

Smores sound good

I am all for stretching the truth a little bit to make the kids happy :rotfl:

No fireworks for me here... :sad2: hmm, need to check, possibly the American embassy will do something on Sunday... Have a wonderful 4th of July weekend!

Thanks for the update! I really like WCC because it is one of the few places you can get bbq at WDW. And I really like that stuff! I will be interested to find out who that not a person is you did not refer to... Perhaps I might be able to learn something from this not anybody as well! ;)

I like the Disney bus racer car - so many people complain about the busses here on the DIS; but little kids love playing with them! :thumbsup2 And I like your interpretation of "train"!! :lmao:

Glad you enjoyed your dinner! Bryan would go back there just for the milkshakes, but we weren't impressed with our skillet that night in 2008. Of course, we had three fairly cranky kids (who refused to eat anything - well, Will was still on cereal), and I was nursing and trying to stay away from too many spices to make sure Will didn't keep us all up that night.

My boys enjoy those cars. Jack got several of them in '08, plus a set of replicas of the Disney transportation options - one of each bus (ME, Cruise, and park buses). This year Will got into them, too. It's a little boy thing, I imagine. I love how Parker would go anywhere if it had something (remotely) to do with a train!

Loved the ketchup video....wonder what our lunch will be like with the tour....I bet we will get a good waitress that plays with people. The food looks good. Endless milkshakes..........OMG that sounds good.

Did you guys make it to the WL DVC villas at all? They have a great room, the Carolwood Pacific room, over there that is all train themed & they have a couple of the cars from Walt Disney's actual back yard rail road. Since Parker likes trains he would probably like seeing those & you would love it for the Walt history.

Have a wonderful 4th of July Dan, Candi & Parker.:cool1:

not singling anyone out or anything.

My father in law used to just put tomato sauce over it with onions and then cook for a couple of hours

I have tried it as well but with BBQ sauce and it came out great

I don't own a BBQ joint but here's my version ;)

for example: we are going on the pooh ride now, parker says no no no...we say but it is a hunnypot that travels on a skinny little track like a train, he says okay.
:thumbsup2

I don't see anything wrong with this - we all do it :lmao:

You guys too!

FYI Just so you know the obsession with cars does not go away - my DS11 has a billion of them and still wants more when we go to the store

I was just able to get the video to load and Parker is looking at all of those bottles saying "what are they doing, I only need one" LOL very cute

Yowza! I am officially caught UP on your report :surfweb:

Awesome job, my friend.....I :worship: to you!!

I few observations:

-That was some luck being STOPPED when that tire blew. Score 1-0 for the trip fairy!

-It’s great that you run……never a runner myself, but it’s nice to admire your commitment

-The lady with the parrot = KUCKOOO!

-Awesome about Hawaii…..which island? My DH and I got married on Maui and spent two weeks there on our HoneyMoon. Ah, to go back…..someday……

-Tell Parker that sometimes, when I fall and skin my knees, I cry a little too…..and I’m over 40!

-I’ve never camped, but just seeing your trip adventure on the way down makes me want to CAMP!!

-YAY, you’ve arrived at MECCA…there is nothing better than taking in that “DISNEY air…”

-Really?! Nine transfers to get from FtW to WL ?? Man, you guys must have been trying to use *every* form of WDW transportation, just on your first day….KUDOS!!!

-Love the artwork….I would like to purchase a “nice” piece of art on our 2011 trip—my only concern is getting it home, since we’re flyers…..

-Treehouse villas…..my parents are renting one of them next summer for them and my sisters’ family…..we’ll be over at the Epcot resort area (fingers crossed for BCV)

-That ketchup routine at WCC is a crack-up…..I wonder if we need to eat there next trip??

I love the look on Parker's face when he sees all of the ketchup. We have never been to WCC. The inside of the WL is beautiful though. Have a Happy 4th!

I'm LOVING this latest update! I have an ADR booked at WCC for our trip in December. It will be the first time there for us!:woohoo:

They have the never ending shakes, here, so we ordered those for our beverages, they could also have been your deserts if you wanted...candi and nana picking out there shake flavors.
DSC01458.jpg
My DSs will be happy to hear about the endless shakes here, especially if they can order them as dessert on the DDP! The shakes are one of the reasons they love going to 50's Prime Time.

everyone got the skillet except candi who got the pot roast, she said it was okay, but not her favorite.
I love the pot roast at 50's PT, but when we get to WCC I'm all over that skillet!!! :goodvibes

Love that look on Parker's face looking at all that ketchup. I wonder if he is contemplating Heaven being a little like that...

now everyone at my table said im not taking it, so what happened, well oll daddio stepped up and grabbed as many as i could hold onto.

i then looked at the kids at the table next to me and said
"hey come with me and help me deliver this"
they didnt even hesitate they jumped right up. and soon we were headed off to the other side of the restraunt.

not sure this is a good lesson but it is true...
Yeah, ole Dad is always having to take on the tough jobs when you get to Disney! I totally agree on the lesson learned! We do tend to be a little more trusting at Disney!

and the briscuit was awesome best i have ever had...actually it was the first time i have had it, so not sure what to compair it to,:confused3
but it was very good flavor and fall apart tender.
Yes, it will be the best I ever had also. I can't wait to try it all after your :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

maybe someone that reads this thread who owns a BBQ joint can give me there reciep how to make it at home good...hint hint hint hint hint hint hint hint.
:sad2: :sad2: :sad2: Now you're starting to sound like Glenn!!!

...no some will say this might be lying, we say it is interpritation.

I don't see anything wrong with this - we all do it :lmao:
Oh sure, and if we all started jumping off a cliff.........

Okay, okay, I tend to venture into the "land of interpretation" too at times.......:rolleyes1

Happy Independence Day!!!

Great Update !! We ate their in 2009 !! The skillet is huge an I barely made a dent in it!!If you like Brisket Fairfax Fare in DHS has some awesome brisket !! In fact if on the ddp this place is a great use of a cs credit !!!

Love the WCC update.

Parker with the ketchup is funny.
At first he looks like - OKAAAAYYYY I only needed one
then I can see the wheels turning in his head.

Then the smile - He gets it and turns and giggles.

It is fun to see the experience through his eyes.

We are eating there again in Sept. Hopefully my son will play along. He is at that age where it has to be cool to play along.:rolleyes1

I am enjoying your pictures of Fort Wilderness. Do they still have those "trams" to get around the campground, like they do at the parking lots of the theme parks?

Great update Dan! I just got home from work-my family is still working at the fair-we have a stand there this weekend, but I stay behind and run the cafe.

I like the brisket at WL too-but we don't smoke our food, so I cannot help you to exactly capture that taste. Ours is more Northern bbq. We grill everything over hardwood-hickory and cherry- and then slow cook it in its own juice for 4 hours over the coals. We make pork and beef the same way-grill all sides of the meat over a high flame , then season it with whatever you like-salt, pepper, garlic, onion-then cook it in a sealed pan until fork-tender. We mix ours with our bbq sauce then. The key is in the grilling to seal in the flavors before cooking. (otherwise it will turn out like italian beef) I think that you can buy a small smoker grill and put wood chips in it to get that taste and texture of brisket-I love trying different bbq when we travel too. By the way, we make an awesome chili-just in case your cookoff ever goes national! Ha Ha!
Have a good 4th-you guys probably have something fun planned!

that is loop 600 in the last year they have extended loop 600, by clearing out some of the trees next to the meadow trading post and adding about 17 more sites along the canal there.
did you ever make it to the fitness trail that leads to the WL?
very nice and relaxing area to be at in the campground.

those cabins are very nice, i would like to stay there sometime if we fly down, they are a good option for people with 5 in there family that would have to get a second room at most of the resorts.
Kendall and Jeff hit the trail for a run once or twice, I didn't but might this trip! They were just starting work on that loop when we were there last year.

The cabins sleep 6, but it's tight depending on how big people are! We loved them though.

Chapter 4. If you like it, buy it.
We used up our first 2 CS credits will hanging out at the pool, we got 2 pulled pork pita sandwiches. They were really good, they came with homemade fried chips, drink of course, and for desert, we both got the frozen drinks, which were pina colada and strawberry daquire minus the booze.

So cool that there is CS at the pool now, it was a big beef beofrre.
campground bus to outpost
bus from outpost to DTD
DTD water taxi POR
POR bus to Epcot
Epcot monorail to TTC
TTC to resort monorails
Resort monorails to Contemporary
Contemporary to Resort Boat lanch
Resort Boat lanch to WL

I love it. And I love that you bought the art when you saw it, instead of waiting!

another lesson was soon learned.

Lesson learned: When your child drops a toy and you run over it with the stroller and drag it under the wheel and the top of it gets all chipped up and metal scrapped, even when you get mad at yourself for doing it, a child will still love the toy and want to play with it as much as ever.

So very very true. And a blessing to learn when he is that little. :thumbsup2

Chapter 5. Num Nums!

not singling anyone out or anything.

GB's your man on the brisket. I've got my share of recipes but he's officially southern and all that!

Dan sorry to hijack your TR but we looked at the RV I was telling you about yesterday. Not too bad. Needs a LOT of TLC and tons of bleach :lmao: New set of tires and some hoses but overall the floor and roof are good. We're thinking we might get it. Needs all new cushions and mattresses for the bunk beds which my DS's LOVED. I of course will sew slip covers for the couches and such.

Awesome report so far.

We also love taking several different kinds of transportation while at Disney World. We are collecting the Transportation Collector Cards now and hope to finish our collection on our trip in August. Not sure if you guys collect them, but since your son is big into trains like my guys I thought I would suggest them.

I"ve always loved the updates I read on WCC. Someday, my friend, some day...

Morning Dan !!! I doubt we will ever camp as Judy's idea of roughing it is no fridge in a hotel room:rotfl2:

I'm really kidding she isn't quite that bad but if we go to Disney it will be POP for us !!

i'm here! looking forward to reading all about it. thanks for the update links. those are a lifesaver when you get behind like i do!
