Squirts, Shirts, and Flirts, The Legend Continues 2 weeks in FW(wrap up #2 new 11-17)

Glad u got a good waitress at WCC. It makes al lthe difference. ours sucked when we went

Smores sound good

I am all for stretching the truth a little bit to make the kids happy
she was good for most of the dinner, there was times when she could have been better, but im not complaining, she was better than 2 years ago. the smore cheesecake was good, but you could only handle like 4 bites of it, because it was so rich.

nothing wrong with stretching the truth.
:thumbsup2

No fireworks for me here... :sad2: hmm, need to check, possibly the American embassy will do something on Sunday... Have a wonderful 4th of July weekend!

Thanks for the update! I really like WCC because it is one of the few places you can get bbq at WDW. And I really like that stuff! I will be interested to find out who that not a person is you did not refer to... Perhaps I might be able to learn something from this not anybody as well! ;)

I like the Disney bus racer car - so many people complain about the busses here on the DIS; but little kids love playing with them! :thumbsup2 And I like your interpretation of "train"!! :lmao:
did the embassy do anything there?

i heard that mickeys backyard BBQ is pretty good as well.

i love the disney bus toys as well, we got the pack for him for christmas and cant wait to open it up.

Glad you enjoyed your dinner! Bryan would go back there just for the milkshakes, but we weren't impressed with our skillet that night in 2008. Of course, we had three fairly cranky kids (who refused to eat anything - well, Will was still on cereal), and I was nursing and trying to stay away from too many spices to make sure Will didn't keep us all up that night.

My boys enjoy those cars. Jack got several of them in '08, plus a set of replicas of the Disney transportation options - one of each bus (ME, Cruise, and park buses). This year Will got into them, too. It's a little boy thing, I imagine. I love how Parker would go anywhere if it had something (remotely) to do with a train!
cranky kids can totally remove you from the experience and make it not as enjoyable as it can be.
i wish i saw those cars in 08, i wonder if they change the styles of characters offered.

yep trains work like magic with him, can bribe him with anything train at any time.
:thumbsup2

Loved the ketchup video....wonder what our lunch will be like with the tour....I bet we will get a good waitress that plays with people. The food looks good. Endless milkshakes..........OMG that sounds good.

Did you guys make it to the WL DVC villas at all? They have a great room, the Carolwood Pacific room, over there that is all train themed & they have a couple of the cars from Walt Disney's actual back yard rail road. Since Parker likes trains he would probably like seeing those & you would love it for the Walt history.

Have a wonderful 4th of July Dan, Candi & Parker.:cool1:
yeah yo uguys will prob get the cream of the crop when yo ugo since it is from the tour.

we passed them a few times when we were there, but never went into them that would have been cool to see that train room.

hope you had a great 4th.

My father in law used to just put tomato sauce over it with onions and then cook for a couple of hours

I have tried it as well but with BBQ sauce and it came out great

I don't own a BBQ joint but here's my version ;)

I don't see anything wrong with this - we all do it

You guys too!

FYI Just so you know the obsession with cars does not go away - my DS11 has a billion of them and still wants more when we go to the store
that sounds pretty good and pretty easy.

speaking of briscuit type items, we buy a bunch of extra corned beefs and bake them in the oven with just about an inch of water and the seasoning packet...then when its done, i take my homemade BBQ sauce, and put it on the beef and throw it on the grill to get some good crispy marks on it on all sides. very good me and candi almost eat the entire thing ourselfs.

i hope he does not lose his love of the cars, i still enjoy playing with them, and helping him pick out new cars that we dont hav ein our collection parker started his collection with about 300 cars that were mine when i was growing up he loves them so much and plays with themevery day.

I was just able to get the video to load and Parker is looking at all of those bottles saying "what are they doing, I only need one" LOL very cute
it is a cute video, his face cracks me up when they place them on there.

Yowza! I am officially caught UP on your report :surfweb:
:welcome: glad you are with us.

Awesome job, my friend.....I :worship: to you!!
I few observations:

-That was some luck being STOPPED when that tire blew. Score 1-0 for the trip fairy!
-It’s great that you run……never a runner myself, but it’s nice to admire your commitment
thanks, i never enjoyed it growing up or in sports, but it does feel good and get yo ugoing for the day.

-The lady with the parrot = KUCKOOO!
-Awesome about Hawaii…..which island? My DH and I got married on Maui and spent two weeks there on our HoneyMoon. Ah, to go back…..someday……
maui...one week will be on the west side of the island by lahina (sp) and the next week will be on the north end of the island
-Tell Parker that sometimes, when I fall and skin my knees, I cry a little too…..and I’m over 40!
me too.
-I’ve never camped, but just seeing your trip adventure on the way down makes me want to CAMP!!
it is fun, great way to see nature and just relaxe...
-YAY, you’ve arrived at MECCA…there is nothing better than taking in that “DISNEY air…”
it does have a different aroma to it doesnt it.

-Really?! Nine transfers to get from FtW to WL ?? Man, you guys must have been trying to use *every* form of WDW transportation, just on your first day….KUDOS!!!
no one ever said we do things normal in our family, :rolleyes1we like to be different.

-Love the artwork….I would like to purchase a “nice” piece of art on our 2011 trip—my only concern is getting it home, since we’re flyers…..
well i do know that you can get it shipped to your home, not sure on the specifics of it, but know it can be done.

-Treehouse villas…..my parents are renting one of them next summer for them and my sisters’ family…..we’ll be over at the Epcot resort area (fingers crossed for BCV)
i would love to visit those, hope you get some good pictures on the inside of them.

-That ketchup routine at WCC is a crack-up…..I wonder if we need to eat there next trip??
it is good food, and the services is usually pretty good, i think you would enjoy it.

I love the look on Parker's face when he sees all of the ketchup. We have never been to WCC. The inside of the WL is beautiful though. Have a Happy 4th!
it was our second time eating there, first time was menu food, i had some western chicken pasta which was really good, and i liked the skillet alot so far it has not disapointed me.

I'm LOVING this latest update! I have an ADR booked at WCC for our trip in December. It will be the first time there for us!
i think you will really enjoy it minus the beans, those were not good.

My DSs will be happy to hear about the endless shakes here, especially if they can order them as dessert on the DDP! The shakes are one of the reasons they love going to 50's Prime Time.
yep get them as a desert and ask for them to bring them out right away with your other drinks.
:thumbsup2
50s is still on my list hopefully next time we will get there.

I love the pot roast at 50's PT, but when we get to WCC I'm all over that skillet!!!
yeah skip the pot roast at WCC candi said it was okay but not memorable.
Love that look on Parker's face looking at all that ketchup. I wonder if he is contemplating Heaven being a little like that...
:rotfl:
Yeah, ole Dad is always having to take on the tough jobs when you get to Disney! I totally agree on the lesson learned! We do tend to be a little more trusting at Disney!
::yes::
Yes, it will be the best I ever had also. I can't wait to try it all after your :thumbsup2:thumbsup2
i think yo uwill like it, i would have gotten more, but i asked for more chicken it was very good as well.

:sad2: Now you're starting to sound like Glenn!!!

Oh sure, and if we all started jumping off a cliff.........

Okay, okay, I tend to venture into the "land of interpretation" too at times.......:rolleyes1

Happy Independence Day!!!
that land helps out alot with the little ones, kind of like the land of imagination, if you image that is what it is like then it is so.
:thumbsup2

hope yuou had a good 4th

Great Update !! We ate their in 2009 !! The skillet is huge an I barely made a dent in it!!If you like Brisket Fairfax Fare in DHS has some awesome brisket !! In fact if on the ddp this place is a great use of a cs credit !!!
well we sure dented it and loved it, i was all over the different meats, tryed the beans and taters, but did not care for them as much, just wanted the BBQ meats. now wait till you see the luau meal, i took down everything on there.
:thumbsup2

i never heard of that place, where in MGM is it?

Love the WCC update.

Parker with the ketchup is funny.
At first he looks like - OKAAAAYYYY I only needed one
then I can see the wheels turning in his head.

Then the smile - He gets it and turns and giggles.

It is fun to see the experience through his eyes.

We are eating there again in Sept. Hopefully my son will play along. He is at that age where it has to be cool to play along.:rolleyes1
yeah that video has just about every expression you can think of..confusion, bewilderment, shock, happy, plotting, figuring.

hopefully disney will bring out the playful ness in him while there. and he wont be too cool:cool2:

I am enjoying your pictures of Fort Wilderness. Do they still have those "trams" to get around the campground, like they do at the parking lots of the theme parks?
no they dont have those anymore, they have 3 seperate bus lines that run all around FW and stop at the front where you check in, (also where you have transporation to everywhere except MK and then the settlement where you can go to WL or MK and the boat marina area...it is pretty decent transporation to get around there.

Great update Dan! I just got home from work-my family is still working at the fair-we have a stand there this weekend, but I stay behind and run the cafe.

I like the brisket at WL too-but we don't smoke our food, so I cannot help you to exactly capture that taste. Ours is more Northern bbq. We grill everything over hardwood-hickory and cherry- and then slow cook it in its own juice for 4 hours over the coals. We make pork and beef the same way-grill all sides of the meat over a high flame , then season it with whatever you like-salt, pepper, garlic, onion-then cook it in a sealed pan until fork-tender. We mix ours with our bbq sauce then. The key is in the grilling to seal in the flavors before cooking. (otherwise it will turn out like italian beef) I think that you can buy a small smoker grill and put wood chips in it to get that taste and texture of brisket-I love trying different bbq when we travel too. By the way, we make an awesome chili-just in case your cookoff ever goes national! Ha Ha!
Have a good 4th-you guys probably have something fun planned!
ahh man i love fair food, not good for you, but love it.

that sounds really good, i have been looking for a small smoker but cant find one that i like enough to buy it...or fit into the amount i want to spend. i love the smoke flavor just have to keep looking for an affordable one.

you know you are more than welcome to bring your chili on the road to the cookoff, we are looking for a september competition this year. or you can give me your reciepe and i will make it as a surpise entry, popcorn::

we are getting close to national though, we are already spread across most of norther Indiana with people coming to it. so who knows another state and a half away might be in the works.
Kendall and Jeff hit the trail for a run once or twice, I didn't but might this trip! They were just starting work on that loop when we were there last year.
now that we are back running in our subdision is just not the same, and we are missing the feeling of running that trail.

The cabins sleep 6, but it's tight depending on how big people are! We loved them though.

oh 6 isnt bad, i can see how it would get tight though.

So cool that there is CS at the pool now, it was a big beef beofrre.
yeah the food is actually pretty good for a little stand like that, the BBQ beef was really good on the pita

I love it. And I love that you bought the art when you saw it, instead of waiting!

us too, they look great on the wall, almost did not get a set ofparkers cars cause we did not buy them right away, but luckily we found them again later in the trip.

So very very true. And a blessing to learn when he is that little. :thumbsup2
yes, also works good for punishing him, by taking away those cars he loves so much, especially when you put themon shelve so he can see them, but cant get them. then he remembers that he got them taken away for not listening.

GB's your man on the brisket. I've got my share of recipes but he's officially southern and all that!
hopefully he will chime in and help me out with my problem.
:thumbsup2

Dan sorry to hijack your TR but we looked at the RV I was telling you about yesterday. Not too bad. Needs a LOT of TLC and tons of bleach :lmao: New set of tires and some hoses but overall the floor and roof are good. We're thinking we might get it. Needs all new cushions and mattresses for the bunk beds which my DS's LOVED. I of course will sew slip covers for the couches and such.
doesnt sound too bad, i really hope it works out for you, and you can start enjoying it.

feel free to post a picture of it if you get it, would like to see it.
or ask away ifyou have any questions.

Awesome report so far.

We also love taking several different kinds of transportation while at Disney World. We are collecting the Transportation Collector Cards now and hope to finish our collection on our trip in August. Not sure if you guys collect them, but since your son is big into trains like my guys I thought I would suggest them.
:welcome: thanks for the compliments.

we did start collecting themon the trip before he was born, i actually have a complete set i saved for him from that trip i have away, now we are working on anotherone.

one CM was nice on the monorail platform that year and gave us 3 complete sets of the monorails, but i was nice and gave 2 of them away to other little boys who looked like they would like them...wish i hadnt, after i gave them to them, they looked at them like yeah thanks alot, reall cool you dork...and they were like 7 i thought they would love them, i should have snached them back and walked away.

but at least i have 1 complete set for him.

i need about 5 more monorails to complete a second set.
i have a bunch of busses and boat ones.

I"ve always loved the updates I read on WCC. Someday, my friend, some day...
glad i could fuel your fire and hopefully you will get to eat there next trip, it is good num nums.

Morning Dan !!! I doubt we will ever camp as Judy's idea of roughing it is no fridge in a hotel room:rotfl2:

I'm really kidding she isn't quite that bad but if we go to Disney it will be POP for us !!
one weekend camping with me will change all of that, we have converted many of our friends over into campers, they love it after they go with us, and see how much fun you can have and how it isnot as dirty as alot of people imagine...

there is something that a hotel in disney cant replace, it has a certain feeling we missed it this trip, maybe next trip we will go hotel again.

i'm here! looking forward to reading all about it. thanks for the update links. those are a lifesaver when you get behind like i do!
:welcome: dawn, glad my link could help you out, i understand you have alot going on right now, so take your time, we arent going away in this report.

I've never been to WCC. I had a res there last years trip but opted to sleep in and skip it instead. :sad2: I love WL. That's my favorite hotel :goodvibes So far.

Can't wait to start reading about your time in the parks!

Hope you had a great 4th of July weekend!

They have the never ending shakes, here, so we ordered those for our beverages, they could also have been your deserts if you wanted...candi and nana picking out there shake flavors.
DSC01458.jpg

I take it you're not talking about the "shake flavors" on the left page.

the skillet came out and we started to dig in, well parker wont eat chicken without ketchup so we asked for some...our waitress was pretty good, she was in good character,

We loved our meals there, but our waiter didn't do any of the fun stuff.

his love for trains grew ever more on this trip, if there was ever a time we were going to change things we were going to do and he did not want to we explained how the next things had something to do with trains, and he was all for it...no some will say this might be lying, we say it is interpritation.

for example: we are going on the pooh ride now, parker says no no no...we say but it is a hunnypot that travels on a skinny little track like a train, he says okay.
:thumbsup2

see poohs hunny pot is a train ride= interpritation.

Very good! Good luck staying ahead of him as he gets older. :rotfl:

Glad you had a good experience at WCC. I personally do not care for it, as we had a bad experience there once, but I adore the Wilderness Lodge. Your little one looks to be enjoying the train display very much. :goodvibes

We have those very same Disney racers, too! What a nice, inexpensive souvenir for the boys to collect!

Looking forward to Epcot day. :hippie:

sorry i did not get an update done today, but very busy after a long weekend, and i wont have time to get another one done until the first part of next week...we are going on vacation tomorrow up to michigan for the rest of the week and the weekend, to celebrate candis birthday. so thats why there wont be any activity on here for a few days.

hope everyone enjoys the rest of there week, and has a fun weekend when it rolls around.

i will have pictures to share when we get back

i didnt know they served, breakfast there, is it family style? or where you just taking an afternoon nap.:thumbsup2

sorry next update will be at the beginning of the week.

we had a great weekend, we hung out on saturday went to the beach, got the camper ready to go this weekend...sunday had a cookout at my parents with family over, big town parade, then another cookout with close friends(family) watched fireworks from the backyard, could see them when we put parker to sleep.

then monday had the day off, and did some more around the house, played in parkers pool, and then went to my parents to celebrate candis birthday....so it was a busy but fun weekend.

I take it you're not talking about the "shake flavors" on the left page.

well maybe they were browsing the other page, but we did not end up ordering anything there.
;)

We loved our meals there, but our waiter didn't do any of the fun stuff.

Very good! Good luck staying ahead of him as he gets older. :rotfl:
yeah, we have had good and bad luck with the waiters, you can tell the ones that are really into it.

we will always try and be one step ahead of him, but he is already figuring us out and watching us close.
:)

he loved it, we had to let him play around it later inthe week when we were tehre as well...right now he is in bed, and i hear him doing a train whistle.

they are nice and actually are pretty cheap for being disney.

thanks, im also kinda hoping i will get my photopass CD before i get to the character update from Epcot.:goodvibes

Thanks, we had a good 4th! Totally understand the busy after a long weekend. I needed some time off from work to recover from my time off from work!!!

Hope you have a good trip to Michigan, and at the risk of sounding redundant, Happy Birthday to Candi!

Have to try that one sometime. I can imagine it being a lot like the breakfast at Ohana's, which is served family style, so should be very similar to the skillet!

had a great trip parker had a ball, and it was great weather, will share about it after the next TR update, which i hope will be today. dont want to leave you guys hanging to long...and good news our photopass CD is on the way, i got a email from glennbo that he was ordering it, so it should arrive shortly which means i can add those into the posts as well.

Have fun in Michigan! Happy birthday to Candi!
thanks we had a great time and i passed along all of her birthday wishes and she said thanks.
