Spontaneous Magical Moments - Share your stories of Disney Magic

We also had a magical experience on my son's first trip to Disneyland. I think he was 2. We were wandering around ToonTown and a CM approached us to chat. After a few minutes they invited us to be the ToonTown family of the day. We were given pins and banners and were on stage during the ToonTown morning show. Would love to post a pic, but I can't figure out how!

We made a stop in Disneyland for our honeymoon, on our way back from Hawaii to New Jersey. While in Hawaii, our car was broken into and a bag stolen, than included our photo ids, credit card and one phone. I still had another credit card in the room, but while in disney, every time I would go to use it, they would ask for id (which neither of us had-boy was the airport fun!). We were buying our bride and groom mouse ear hats and the cast member was insisting on id, and I kept explaining we didn't have any (i did have a copy of the police report listing drivers license as stolen). Finally a manager got involved. After explaining the whole story again, we were able to make our purchase. The manager then walked us over to Small world and said we needed a cruise to complete our honeymoon. We were moved to the front of the line and given our own boat!

We were staying at AKL in a savannah view room. We'd brought some wine glasses from home, to enjoy our evening sunset wine on the balcony. The mousekeeper must have thought that the glasses were from the lounge in the lobby...as the second night they were missing. When we contacted mousekeeping to try to get them returned, they didn't hesitate, and sent some one up ....with a brand new set of wine glasses from the gift shop, with Mickeys all over them. We never expected such nice replacements, but they are now my favorites.

We've been very lucky to get pixie dusted twice! On our first family trip we were wearing matching Mickey t shirts. We'd just come off of the Safari ride at AK when a CM stopped and asked us if we'd like to go backstage to see the animals and meet an animal keeper. Of course we said yes! My kids were 11 and 13 at the time. The two CMs were so great. They spent over an hour showing us around, explaining how they care for the animals, gave us key chains and stickers.

A year and a half later, my DD and I were at AK for a mother/daughter Christmas trip. We were wearing matching Santa hats and finishing breakfast at Tusker House when a CM with a clip board asked us if we planned to stay at AK for the parade. We said yes! She asked us if we'd like to ride on Rafiki's float or Mickey's float!!!! You should have seen the look on DD12's face when she screamed Mickey's Float!!!! It was pure magic and nothing we could have planned.

Our first trip with 4 children,we have 5 now, was in 2000. DD 3 1/2 was a sobbing, sweaty mess. Walking through AK Tarzan jumps out of the bushes right in front of us. He squats down to her eye level and "talks" to her. He must have spent 15 minutes with her. Signed her autograph book and didn't leave until she was smiling. My wife and I cried for an hour. We still talk about it anytime the word Disney comes up.

For our trip in 2004, we were there for MNSSHP. We dressed up as Peter Pan characters. I was Capt. Hook, DW Smee, children were Michael, Wendy, John, Tiger Lilly, and Tink. We were looking for Pan. Well,we found another group that had Pan and spent about 30 minutes with them taking pictures. To this day,our children think we arranged the whole thing.

Last year was a rough year for my family. We had a trip scheduled since my dance troupe was performing in late July, and in April, my father had started chemotherapy for his cancer diagnosis. We were worried that the trip wouldn't turn out to be fun and enjoyable because he would be tired, and he had to push my mom in her wheelchair ( she's on dialysis and legally blind ). During an exhausting day at AK, we headed over to FotLK to get out of the sun and use our FP+, when a cast member told us we wouldn't need to use it because of my moms chair. It must have slipped my mind. Quickly, I switched it to a Mickey and Minnie meet instead. On our way over, my dad was having a really tough time. The terrain in AK is bumpy and there are cracks and hills and crevices that make pushing a manual wheelchair pretty rough. It was also about the time after his treatments that he would start to feel run down and sick for a day or two ( but he insisted on pushing through ). As we crossed over towards the building Mickey and Minnie were in, I'm checking my phone to make sure we're going the right way and I hear my dad say something. Looking up, King Louie has his hands on my dad's shoulders, and he's 'helping' push my dad pushing the wheelchair while Baloo walked next to my mom! Luckily I was able to snap a quick picture as he moved his hands. They walked with us for a while, and everyone was laughing and smiling and it really perked up my dad's spirits! He still talks about it and set the picture as his background on his phone!

This is kind of small, but it made my sons day! We were at the Frontierland Shooting Range and they were just finishing up when a CMS came over and said he had put 100 shots on every gun! There weren't many people around so my DH Aand I each picked up a gun too. It was a lot of fun!

On our trip this past October my DM and I decided to make a quick morning trip to AK while my DGM slept in a bit. We stopped to get a dole whip and one of the sweet CM's gave me an elephant ear pastry just because she noticed my bday button. It was really sweet and made my day :)

On our first family trip we were excitedly walking into MK for MNSSHP and almost immediately approached by a very nice CM who asked DD's then ages 4 and 6 if they would like to be Grand Marshall's in the parade that night. Umm Yeah!!! The sheer excitement of the entire experience of them being brought backstage beforehand and us watching the parade in a roped off area with a handful of other parents/family members was truly magical. We didn't bring our video camera that night so my profile pic is the only picture I have of them on the float that night.

So mine happened today. That's right...today!

I was considering switching an upcoming AK day to a MK because I saw thunder mountain was going to be down for the whole of our trip EXCEPT for our arrival day...and we had not planned to go to MK that day! I emailed the concierge planning folks at the GF where we had booked CL for the first time using an awesome orbitz coupon! I asked concierge if late day #4 fast passes were hard to get for thunder mountain.

I heard back and got the sweetest note! They said they had checked our schedule and seen we had our 15th anniversary dinner schedule at the GF cafe so they decided to book a 4th FP for us at 8:30 in the MK on thunder railroad so it would give us plenty of time to eat and then get ice cream and walk down main street, enjoying our anniversary and get to ride our favorite ride! :flower1:

image.jpg Mine was on my sister's wedding trip - they had lots of special memories! - but mine came while watching the second Main Street Electrical Parade from Frontierland - it started right when the park closed. We were the only people on our side of the street and there were maybe a dozen people on the other side. As the parade came down the street we were clapping along and all the characters were pointing at us and making a big deal. When the float with Prince Charming came down I yelled out "Prince Charming!" He looked right at me and held out the pillow with the glass slipper. My brother-in-law snapped a great pic.

In 2012 my now son n law wanted to propose marriage to my daughter on our Disney trip. He asked us for ideas. We stopped by guest relations city hall but they were little help. They just suggested asking a photopass photog to take a picture of proposal. Although that would be fine we were hoping for something a little more special.
Later my wife and I were shopping at the Merchant of Venus . We chatted with a CM from Knoxville TN. We live not far from Knoxville so we had a good chat about home, Disney, etc. We told him about our proposal quest. He said wait here and off he went. He came back with several Mickey Minnie bride groom gifts; stuffies, ears, figurines, etc. He also arranged for a Photopass Photog at the rose garden to do a special session with us right before Wishes. He also connected us to some folks to have my daughter and Son n law photos displayed on the castle during the Magic, Memories and you projection show that night. Although we didn’t see the photos, maybe one the ones that were very small and displayed quickly, it was neat thinking they were there.
The photopass photographers were great. We showed up at the rose garden before Wishes and they worked us in the line to be the last shots before Wishes. (they normally stop photos during Wishes) They had our entire family in for some shots then got my daughter and son n law for some shots and as Wishes began he proposed. My daughter knew he would probably asked her soon but this caught her by complete surprise. She was very happy! They got to watch the entire Wishes show there in the rose garden alone. We thanked all the CMs and wrote them a review to get them special recognition for the magic they created.
As a dad I was reluctant to let my daughter go! But they are a great couple and are happy and I’m glad they got a magical beginning and that makes it alright!

My moment of Disney Magic happened with the help of a very nice CM (who we left a compliment at Guest Services), some luck and in return we got so much pixie dust!

2 years ago I was with a friend in DLP to celebrate her 25th birthday. My friend is a big Sleeping Beauty fan, she had made a drawing of Aurora she would like to get signed. Only meeting princesses in Paris is not as easy as in WDW. We have the Princess Pavillion, but lines are long and you do not know in advance which princess (yes single, not plural) you will meet. CMs are instructed not to tell guests which princesses are inside. And waiting 90 minutes for a chance, therefore we skipped the pavilion.

We decided to give the princess lunch/dinner-restaurant a try. Not to eat, but just to see if we could get in to get the autograph and then leave. Aurora should always be there. When we arrived, we see a CM at the door, but not checking reservations or whatever. He tells us there was a fire in the kitchen and the restaurant was closed. They did let in guests with reservations as all characters were present. These guests could get in and at least have their pictures taken. He asked us to wait for 15 minutes as Aurora had just left.

Then some people left the building, and when the door opened I saw Adam standing there (the Beast in human-form), oh and Belle was there too. Which caused me to freak out. I don’t know what I said anymore, but I convinced the CM to let us in, as I wanted to get the pictures with Adam. The CM went to ask and came back to let us in! :D

When we came in, there was only one family in front of us. We took of our coats, got a nice drink with a little umbrella :P and waited for the royal couple. After the family left, we had the restaurant and the characters to ourselves. Unfortunately I didn't have my good camera with me, but the experience is so embedded in my memory, I don't need perfect pictures as a keepsake.

We got our pictures with Adam & Belle, as my friend kept talking with the royal couple, I saw Suzy & Perla being bored. Suzy had found my scarf and vest and started to play with it.

All of a sudden Aurora appears and my friend almost faints ;-)

My friend tried to persuade Aurora to exchange her Phillip doll against the real Phillip. Aurora didn’t go for it. Having props for character interaction, definitely helps. My friend really had her moment with Aurora and I was enjoying my friend’s happiness.

Then Cinderella came in, seeing there was no one, besides us in the restaurant. So that Aurora joined the conversation as well. My friend asks Cinderella: “Do you like sports.” It wasn’t the question I would ask, but Cinderella answered immediately: “Well, I like to dance if that is a sport.” To which my friend answers, “I only know the Macarena.” Luckily Suzy & Perla knew the Macarena as well. And of course they needed to demonstrate it.

And I was sane enough to switch my camera to video! :D

After this, we had seen all characters and there was no reason to stay anymore. We said our goodbyes to everyone and thanked the CM who had let us in a thousand times. We had at least 20 – 30 minutes of private meet. Once outside we couldn’t control ourselves to squeal with excitement. It was so much more than we expected and could ever dream of. Still one of the best moments I ever had.

I've got two. In March 2007 wifey and I were joined by our daughter, SIL and 2 grandkids. Sophie, our oldest was nearly 4 and we all were watching a magic show on the Board Walk in the evening. She was chosen to be the magicians assistant and stole the show, to this day the video of that is high on our list.

In a prior visit wifey and I were at Pleasure Island, one of our favorite places in WDW. It was early evening and the Comedy Warehouse show was some time off so we hit the Adventurer's Club first. We had a great time there as usual and as we were leaving to go to the CW Graves, the butler, was outside and he wished us a good evening. I told him, 'We're just catching the CW show, we'll be right back', to which he replied, 'You give us reason to go on, sir!'. I just lost it, I'm laughing out loud right now. Fond memories.

We had some truly magical moments on our first trip (2006), me and my (now) DH had booked a trip at the last minute my Mum and brother decided to come with us.

We were lucky to be able to book Chief Mickey's to celebrate my brothers 18th birthday. As we were seated in the back of the restaurant Chip was coming past the table and took my brothers hand leading him towards the sweets and cakes. My brother is Downs and just to watch his face light up from the attention was magical. Then when Dale came around he did the same thing. It is still a much talked about event in our house.

He also received another bit of magic when we were watching the parade in MK he was super excited to see Eeyore coming, Eeyore noticed and stopped and gave him a kiss and watched the parade with him for a moment.

These are the little things that make me love Disney and these stories make it hard not to cry.

I had my own magic moment on our last trip when my DH arranged for us to draw Tinkerbell in the animation class and the artist then signed it for me, the picture was creafully brought back to the UK and is framed for all to see

Can't wait for another trip (soon fingers crossed) and the chance to experience more magic!!
