Palo men's dinner attire dress shorts?

Shop at any high end men's clothing store. Shorts are in leisure wear or casual wear. Anyone dinning at a high end restaurant should not be wearing shorts. Palo is such a restaurant. Read the official Disney website. Palo does not allow shorts at dinner. It does at brunch.

During a recent sailing on the Disney Wish, we found ourselves behind a sharply dressed couple checking in for dinner at Enchanté (the newer counterpart to Remy on the older ships). Their outfits were impressively coordinated—right down to the husband’s tailored shorts, which matched his partner’s ensemble with almost theatrical precision 😄.

As they approached the hostess stand, the hostess kindly reviewed the dress code and offered to hold their reservation so the husband could change into long pants. The wife responded that he didn’t have any, prompting the hostess to offer a loaner pair and even asked for his size. The wife then explained that a concierge cast member had assured her that shorts would be acceptable. The hostess, clearly flustered but professional, apologized sincerely and asked for the cast member’s name to help ensure accurate guidance in the future.

Later that evening, after our own dinner at Palo, we spotted the same couple strolling the ship with their kids—husband still wearing the same outfit. Safe to say, they likely enjoyed a lovely (and much noisier) dinner in the MDR instead 🤣.

FYI: The day before your Enchanté or Palo reservation, you will receive a message in the DCL app outlining the dress code in detail.

I wish DCL would enforce the dress code every single time not just willy nilly.
Treasure in April at palo all men at the table had shorts on, the women were dressed nice. Enchante saw jeans that looked like they had come out of a dumpster. So they definitely were not enforcing the dress code on our cruise.

Some of it depends on itinerary too. Lots of jeans and hiking boots in Alaska, which certainly complies with the dress code, but isn't particularly dressy. And brunch in the Caribbean should be more laid back. At the end of the day, you're right, the dress code should be enforced uniformly. I guess the condition of jeans can be a subjective call, and they should probably define dress shorts a little better. I'm thinking Bermuda shorts and golf shorts, but not cargo shorts or jorts. I would also consider draw string linen shorts acceptable (even if some people wouldn't) but then again, if you wear an untucked aloha shirt with them, who would know they had a drawstring? And if you tuck in your aloha shirt you should be arrested for crimes against humanity.

I just dont understand why people care so much about what other people are wearing. It doesnt impact your experience or make your food taste any different.

For some, it does. Part of the experience is ambiance. If the dress of others around you didn't have an impact on the experience, then why do any restaurants have any dress codes at all?

(I don't have super strong feelings about what people wear to adult dining on cruises, as long as they're following the dress code). My comment above is more of a general statement/counter to the general idea of dress codes.)
