Spontaneous Magical Moments - Share your stories of Disney Magic

My first, we were at MNSSHP watching the parade in front of Diamond Horseshoe Review. Woody, Jessie, and Bullseye were taking turns there for photo opts. During parade next to no one was there so Woody came down and put his arm around my son's shoulder and they stood and watched the parade together for a few minutes. DS was just turning 5 at the time and loved Woody and Buzz, so it was a thrill for him. I am not even sure we took a pic, just wanted him to think this was something that happens, not make a big deal so everyone starts looking and trying to get in on the action.

Second, DS age 7 now, on Dis Cruise over Memorial Day holiday. It is hot and humid, DS is having some breathing issues, suffers with an asthma issue, so it was the second stop at Castaway Cay and we did not feel we could take him off ship. We went down by the pool and DH was playing ping pong or something with him. Along comes Donald Duck, who stops for a quick hello I'm sure, but when DH says DS is not feeling well and can't leave ship, Donald takes a few minutes and plays ping pong with him. DS was soooo happy, and it certainly brightened his day. At dinner, one of our wait staff told us it was over 100 that day on the island, so very glad we stayed aboard.

I have one!! we went on our honeymoon in 2010 (September) and we were in AK meeting some characters when a person with a clipboard came up to us. Originally I thought it was a survey person- and I'm weird, I love surveys. But then he started talking to us and I couldn't figure out what he was doing but knew it had to be good. He asked us if we planned to stay at AK for the day (it was just about lunch time). Hubby was about to say no- since our actual plans were to go mini golfing and relax by the pool. I was smart enough to intervene and say yes. We then were told we could be the grand Marshall's in the parade! my dh thinks I planned this (since I tend to add extras into our trips often without telling him) but we all know I couldn't plan this if I tried

That is amazing! For the record mine didn't involve characters either, but I just noticed they often do. The Blue Angels are so cool!

Mine is pretty simple... we didn't make a lunch ADR at Hollywood Studios during my husband's and my trip in May 2009, booked before I got pregnant so I was 6.5 months pregnant while we were there. It was CRAZY hot, with temps in the upper 90s the entire week and I was feeling cranky and woozy and wanted to sit down in AC to cool off. We were right by the Sci Fi Dine In Theater and my husband said let's see if they'll take a walk-up. The cast member at first said it would be a 30 minute wait, so I just asked if I could sit down and have a glass of ice water. The next thing I know, I got my water and we were being seated. In some ways it was the best meal of our trip. The burger and shake tasted heavenly. And the waiter snapped this pic of me and my husband, which is oddly a favorite of mine from that trip.

Mine isn't really a character one, but....
We love going to Hoop Dee Doo Revue, and took our son (then 1yrs) to it. Of the three actresses, he fell in love with the brunette who plays Flora. He followed her with his eyes, smiling and pointing at her the entire time. Couldn't care less for the other girls - Flora was it for him! We even asked the waitress if Flora could come over and snap a picture with him, and she did. We have the cutest picture of him just gazing at her.

Cut to this year around September, and our family is once again visiting the HDDR. Sure enough, the SAME actress is there playing Flora. And again, my little 2 yr old is entranced! We show our picture of Ds with Flora from the previous year, and she then tells the Flora that DS is here again. Flora comes over mid-dinner (there is a part when she sings to the audience) and she sings "Let me call you sweetheart" to him. Once again, he falls in love, giving her his big blue eyed look! She was absolutely thrilled that our boy remembered her!

It was the sweetest thing every, especially that she remembered him! The other actors made a big deal over him (Lily was a bit jealous!), and we once again have pictures of DS and his girl!

My favorite magical moment is from our first family Disney trip when we went to DL a couple years ago. Our son was 4 and had met a few characters, but wasn't really into it. He just stood stiff for a quick picture, with no expression on his face, and wouldn't interact at all. A few days into our trip we stopped to see Jessie, in their cute Big Thunder Ranch area, and my son had the best time with her. The area was tucked away and Big Thunder was closed for refurb, so no one else was stopping by. They walked, played, "talked", and relaxed together for over 20 minutes. It was adorable and we got so many great pictures. I'm not sure what made her better than the other characters for him, but she was great. I made sure to fill out a card for her at City Hall on our way out.

My second magical moment was on a quick solo trip to WDW in February. I went straight to MK from the airport, arriving around 1 or 2, and the parking attendant gave me free parking. I was already excited and it made my day even better.

We were a little behind due to Pluto and Minnie M&Gs on Main Street (worth it, though!) and got to Jungle Cruise at a time the stand-by wait was forty minutes. We stood aside to debate a little about where to go next instead, when a CM came up and said "I see you have some VIPs with you; how would you like to take a private cruise?" She grabbed us and another family, took us to where a boat had just unloaded, and we got a "private" Jungle Cruise. As we went past the loading dock, she explained to folks waiting that they couldn't board because we were all contagious (and made us cough).

The best part, though, was at the end when Skipper Chelsea asked the kids for their autographs. I'll never forget it. A really small thing, but just super nice all around.

Mine was last year at the Woody and Jessie meet at MK. DH and I don't have kids, so it was just us. DH is a Sheriff Deputy and I told Woody this. He made the biggest deal and spent close to 10 minutes with my 36 year old husband comparing badges and posing for pictures. I just loved that it totally proved WDW isn't just for kids.

I am literally crying reading these.

Great thread!

For me, I always made a wish at Cinderella's fountain ever since I was a small girl. And it was usually for the same thing.

Years later, I hold those wishes in my arms (my DH and baby girl) when I visit the fountain. That is magic to me.

Ditto to everything you said. 2 trips ago I wished in the fountain to get engaged to my (then BF) DH and it happened later that night. This trip, I'll be wishing for the same thing you did...future DD or DS.

DD was 7 and we got on Peter Pan for the very first time ever. As the ship took off, DD exclaimed "Mama, we are really flying!!" And when we landed I pointed out the tiny sparkles on the moving black conveyor belt on the ground and whispered “to her "See, pixie dust”" and she whispered back "“Oh! That’s how they get them to really fly!”"

My DS DH and I were having lunch at the plaza. It was our last day and as we were being seated the CM started chatting up my son "What's your name? Where are you from? Oh you must be in 1st grade are you 6 or 7?" At the time I thought the CM was being very friendly.
About 5 minutes after we ordered Fire Chief Smokey Miller came in with a photographer. He had a brief chat with the host and then called the entire restaurant to order. It seemed that the Mayor of main street USA had called in sick and they needed a JR. mayor. He explained that the citizens of main street had voted earlier that day and had voted my son Junior mayor! The restaurant cheered. He got a badge, lots of photos and a Fast Pass for anything he wanted to ride. Then Smokey sat down and chatted with my son about 5 more minutes about all the rules of being mayor. Taking a nap (thats what mayor weaver does) fix any potholes. Give birthday and anniversary wishes to guests. Ride the train and point out all the lands to the tourists :)

DS took his responsibilities very seriously and waved at passerbys etc and for the rest of the day he got tons of attention from CMs since he wore his badge. We even rode the train and he wished a little girl in front of him happy birthday. (Its in the job description! LOL)

Since then I now know that little bit of pixie dust happens quite a bit but DS thinks he is still the mayor!

My first trip to Disney was when I was 3....so 29 years ago. One of my favorite pictures is of me and Sleepy. I think it was during a parade, but he's holding me up. My mom took a print of the picture back with us when we went for my graduation trip in 2001. The dwarves weren't doing meet and greets, but my mom asked a cast member if they could get his autograph. The CM took the picture into the back and came back with it signed. Here's the original.

We where trying to find Belle at Epcot, but for some reason she was canceled. We made our way over to see Aladdin.my son had new glasses that he showed to Jasmine and Aladdin. While my son was talking to him he told him that he had been waiting on Belle but she never showed up. Aladdin told us to stay put and he went and talked to the cm working their line. He came back and told us bye. As we walked off another cm came up to us and asked my sons name and told us to go back to where Belle was to be. A line had started for her next greet but as we aproached another cm told us to wait to the side and not get in the line. The next thing I see is Belle coming toward us
She look at my son and said " Noah there you are. I have been looking all over for you." It made his whole trip.
The next day at MK my son wanted to get in line to see Aladdin because he had genie with him. It was the same Aladdin. He remembered my son and introduced him to genie and told him all about my sons new glasses. It was the coolest thing for him.

On our last trip to Disneyworld we were waiting at rope drop for AK and a cast member came over to start talking with us. He asked if we were planning to ride the safari, and we told him we were. He asked if we were ready now, and took us under the rope. He walked us down to the safari and we were the first ones to journey out that day, with a private car. It was a great treat!
