Splitting CS meals

I also think a lot has to do with HOW you eat. Take the entrees at Yak and Yeti CS. They are a ton of rice and noodles, but just a fair amount of protein. Everyone eats differently, but my family does not eat that many carbs, so we will just eat a few fries or bites of rice, making most entrees non shareable.( At least between 2 people, like I said earlier, maybe 2 meals between 3 people). IF we are gettng burgers or sandwiches,we do save money by ordering a sandwich without the fries and always order cups of ice water because that is what we drink anyway.

Agree that everyone eats differently. There was a thread on here a few months back about what people do with a rotisserie chicken. Some people could feed a family of four plus have leftovers and soup from one chicken, while others (like me) have to pick the bird clean to make the chicken work for a single meal for the whole family.

We split the chicken nacho's at Big River Brewing Company. THe dish was huge and could easily feed 3 people.

Ok, my curiosity is growing. For those that split meals between two adults (or those that don't) what's your typical meal like away from the world?

From the sandwiches/burgers I've seen or eaten from CS they're isn't much to them that I would call them huge. It's not like the burgers are some half-pound deal with a Five Guys mound of fries. They are always those thin fast food type burgers and a lot of bread. Maybe people load them up with toppings?

I guess I never thought of myself as eating so much more than other people lol. It's making me wonder....

We used to be able to split a meal between 2 of us. On our last trip I felt like the portions were smaller than I remembered. We could split 2 meals between 3 of us, but not 1 meal between 2 of us.

Ok, so I always see this here as a way to save money and everybody talking about how monstrously huge the CS meals are that they could never finish one by themselves and I'm always a bit baffled.

What are you ordering that's so huge that two adults can split?!? Maybe I just eat more than 90% or you out there lol. I'm a lunch and dinner eater and maybe a snack late in the evening. There are definitely times where I can't finish but no way would I have been able to split it with another person and be satiated for 4-5hrs.

Am I a glutton or am I missing something?

Never have seen the 'huge' Disney portions that some people speak of. DH & I are not large people but we never have any problem eating our meals by ourselves.

Of course we are not filled up in between with drinks (alcoholic or soda) or snacks either - we eat when we're hungry, then have a snack if/when we want one.

I am like you - often wonder where these people eat! :confused3

Do you happen to remember how much a burger or sandwich was by itself? This sounds like something we would do to.

Honestly I think it depends on not only how big of a eater you are but who is doing the serving as well as is your chicken the puney one or the one who must have worked out becuase man thats one big chicken. My DS 12 and I found that we could share the build your own pastas at the resorts and still have some left. My DH one night got the BBQ pulled pork sandwich at Cosmic Rays and there was enough meat on it to make 3 sandwiches (it was later in the night- maybe they were trying to get rid of it). And the chicken I've gotten it several times and there were times yes, 2 of us could have eaten it but others there was no way, but thats even at home- I bought boneless chicken breast at one store and 4 breast weighed in at 6 pounds- those things were huge- that night between the 3 of us we only ate 1 1/2 breast and I cooked 4.

Sometimes my boyfriend and I will split meals but not with the intention of counting it as a full regular meal if that makes sense. For example, one day we split the make your own pasta in the resort food court but each had a snack later that afternoon too. I think the main reason we split meals at Disney is so we can try more of them!

A sand which at Columbia Harbor House is shareable, as is a wrap at Pecos Bills. We share a lot of meals.

I could never share those meals. Do you snack or have drinks between meals that keeps you from being so hungry?

My friend and I split a chix sand, fries and a drink from cosmic rays, We also had water. WE also split a Honey chix and rice meal at yak and yeti CS and each ordered a drink. Works for us may not work for others.

Like my response above - no way for us. as that would need to sustain us for a few hours of lots of walking at Disney. The 'half' chicken at Cosmic Rays was definitely small and not splittable by anyone I know. Most sides are like 1/2 c. - french fries a little larger. Also, we don't drink sodas - just water.

Again, as a meal, no way! As a snack, yes!

We have not noticed a significant difference in portion sizes in the last few years - before that we did see a difference in hamburger sizes at the American Adventure in Epcot. (noticed that one, as that was my 'go to' burger place). I do love my burgers. ;) It was the difference of say a BK Whopper a few years back vs. reg. size hamburger.

We split CS meals, but we always either (1) get dessert with it, or (2) get a snack afterwards (which we also share). Without the dessert or snack, we might not have enough - with the exception of Morocco shwarma platters or other meals of that size. That platter is absolutely HUGE.

Two examples of meals from our last trip - our group included 2 adults, 2 kids ages 9 and 12 and a toddler:

Pizza planet - 2 adult CS meals with Dessert.

American Pavillion in Epcot - 2 adult meals and 1 kids meal

We had trouble finishing each of these meals.

OP - thanks for asking. I've wondered the same thing many times. We have occassionally split a meal - but not on a regular basis.

I am guessing it is around $2. Never really noticed because I am usually ordering a few meals. I am going again in a few weeks and will definitely pay closer attention.

Actually, they are more like $5-6 for just the burger. (this is Disney, you know? ;)

We paid over $5 for an uncrustable at Animal Kingdom last trip. The kids meal was $7 and I requested to buy it al la carte. I never dreamed it would be that much.

I may just wait until I'm really hungry before stopping to eat but I couldn't imagine my husband and I sharing a meal. Maybe people are splitting meals more as a snack or they're splitting them with their kids.

DD and I share, but she eats like an adult most days. We almost always share burgers, sandwiches, and she loves the chicken/rib deal at MK ... in fact, we shared that platter between my mom, daughter and I. I always feel like I overeat IRL, so I make an effort to share at Disney because of the heat.

There are quite a few places where we will share the dining plan. We find the serving sizes in the US much larger than most places here- very easy to share!
