How is the WiFi in the parks? Wondering if it’s generally better (faster) to use data or the WiFi when using the MDE app to adjust LLMP quickly.

It works pretty well in my experience (these days anyway - there was a time when it didn't). On very busy days it might get overloaded though. Overall, I tend to use it whenever possible on property.

WiFi performance in the parks can be inconsistent, especially during peak hours, which may affect updating wait times or adjusting plans on the MDE app. Many guests find that using mobile data provides a more reliable and faster connection for real-time updates. Planning around less crowded times can also improve the app experience.

Sometimes it's great but sometimes pretty bad. When you're indoors in a queue there is sometimes no cellular signal at all but the WiFi may be working fine. If you like you can get the Speedcheck app which does a quick check of your connection speed, and if you need to do something important use whichever option is fastest at that particular time (I used to do this regularly as part of my prep immediately prior to grabbing a RotR virtual queue slot).

As mentioned, WiFi in the parks these days is pretty good for general use, and generally seamless. Switching from WiFi at the resort to WiFi in the parks can be problematic however, as the two areas use different naming schemes. That said, I find that mobile data (5G in particular) is significantly faster and more stable. If I need to assure the fastest speed for a task, I use mobile data while outside.

We loaded a VPN in case we needed to use the wifi, but never had a need to. We have Verizon on our phones and Starlink at the camper and had zero issues with connectivity over the week we were there in March.

For best results, you'll have to to toggle back and forth. In some spots, cellular is better, in others, wi-fi is better. All the while, draining your battery.
