This trip will be my first time to ride Splash Mountain. I know everyone gets wet, but I was wondering which row is the driest. I don't mind getting wet. DM and I will wear our ponchos just in case. :)

Also, where's the best place to put your belongings (purse, camera, etc.)? I know you can rent lockers. Do they stay even remotely dry at your feet?

Thanks for any help! :)

I've sat in every row and I think the answer is--you never know. Besides the drop where you will get wet, there's other places along the way where water squirts out of different places and it just depends on where your vehicle is when it passes by. Maybe other posters have had other experiences, but so far I've found that you just never really know.

Pretty much agreed, if the water cannons are on near the splash down you could get wet by just pure luck on where your boat is at the time.

Most of the time you don't get very wet on Splash. Even when you get the most wet, I wouldn't say you get drenched. The worst part is that your hair gets wet and/or your tush. If the weather is warm then it's no big deal and will mostly be dry in a few minutes. It's really only a problem if it's cold and/or you're wearing jeans. This time of year, it's mostly a bonus to get a little wet.

Be sure to tuck your pncho in and make sure there are no holes where water can sneak in or you get a wet bum for the rest of the day! Feet in the air when going down the drop is a good idea (if you're at the front) or they get wet from the puddles running to the front of the boat. If you're at the back watch going up hills.

I always wear my poncho as I hate getting wet, if you have a bag, keep it on your knee under your poncho, dont put anything on the floor!

Make sure to sit on the LEFT side. There's a waterfall on the right that is a potential drenching. Also if you come around as one of the logs is coming down the big drop, you will get wetter on the right.
However, it seems if you are on the left side and in the front.... you may get a good soaking if you don't have any weight in the back of the log. In that case don't lean forward.
Keep your feet up, especially if you are in the front.
Also don't sit with your bottom all the way back. The water collects in that part of the seat and you will end up with a wet bottom.
A lot depend too on how many are in the log and if they are large adults or small children. Try not to sit behind a small child (if they duck down, you will get all the splash meant for them.

As you see.... I love Splash Mtn.... but HATE to get wet. So I know a lot of the tricks not to get wet.

Have fun!!!

Generally, the left side of the log is relatively drier than the right side. Most of the water cannons & waterfalls are on the right side. That being said, there is some 'luck of the draw' involved in whether you stay dry, get a little wet, or get soaked.

As for bags, cameras, etc., don't put them next to your feet. They will get wet there & that floor can be nasty.

Above all, have fun. It is a neat ride.:)

You get soaked pretty much anywhere you sit. There's a point in the ride where you go round a corner and when we were on it, another carriage was going down the flume and when it hit the bottom the splash came right over the wall and landed on top of everyone in our carriage. We were all soaked before we even got to the main part of the ride. If you don't want to get, you could wear your poncho with your bag and valuables underneath it.

I rode Friday and sat in the front row on the right and DBF sat on the left and we were the wettest out of everyone, just FYI :)

I have heard from sources that the back left (your left, so if looking from the front of the log, looks right) is the driest. Thats where I always sit.

I have a feeling that myself, niece, and nephew will be riding this in our upcoming trip. ::yes:: :woohoo: Not sure if the rest of the family is willing to try it or not.

On the ponchos, do you buy the ones at Disney (I have read those are pretty good) or bring your own? I have also read a lot of cheap ponchos aren't well suited for the park (cling to body and just not comfortable). Not a poncho person so not really sure what to look for but I don't really want to be walking around wet for a few hours either.

We buy the ponchos at the dollar store and give them to anyone who wants them in line when we are finished with the ride. They are very cheap but work at keeping us dry for the ride.

For heavy rain in Florida they are not much good. At that point we go with heavy rain gear.

I've ridden it in '98 and 05 and never, ever gotten more than a drop or two or water on me. I think some people's definition of drenched is different than others.

:lmao: You may have just jinxed yourself :lmao:
So when you ride in 5 months... plan to get wet. :lmao:
But you are right... it is posible to ride and NOT get wet at all. We've ridden so many times, there are times when I did not get but a couple drops. Also when I got soaked and DD only got a little splash (this was a time when I sat behind a little girl and DD sat behind her father who was a very large man, he blocked all the splash from DD). There are a lot of factors in how wet you get.;)

The 98-cent disposable ponchos from Walmart work fine for Splash and also for Kali River Rapids. On KRR we use two ponchos - one worn in the regular way and another to wrap around our legs and feet to keep our shoes dry.
On Splash, I agree the left side towards the rear of the log is usually the driest.
We keep a gallon size ziploc bag in our backpacks for our folded up wet ponchos. Back in the room we hang them in the shower and they dry quickly and are reusable. Sometimes we hand them to people in line at KRR who are glad to have them when they see how drenched some people get on that ride.
