OK, I freaked out last week when Southwest raised their fares, and bought 4 round trip tickets MKE - MCO. Now, they have dropped their fares back to what they were - less than 72 hours from purchase (They haven't even hit my ccard yet).

What should I do? I have heard that SW gives credits???
TIA!

Call SWA and have your browser open to the site while you are talking to them. I did that a couple of years ago to save $30 and they worked with me.

I've been watching almost daily, myself. I booked 7 tickets and got what I considered to be a good fare. BUT when multiplying x7, a small difference can add up. I've just seen where our outbound flight dropped by $5, which is $35 total. BUT the returns are UP by $45. Wondering if I can just get the credit off the outbound, but I recall I had to cancel and rebook my entire itinerary when I got my credit last time. The SW agent cancelled my original itinerary a split second before I booked the new one at the lower rate.

So I think I risk paying the increased fare on the return if I want to get my $35 on the outbound. Probably not worth the hassle. But I'm still watching closely for a significant change.

You will be able to get credits towards future travel. The credits must be used within a year of the date you booked the trip, not the date of the trip itself or the date you make the change.
To get the credit for the difference, you just need to go to travel tools, and go to the Change Itinerary link, when you go in and make the change and you see that there is a price change, go ahead and make the change but keep your original dates and you will be given the credits

I just did this a couple of weeks ago myself. They have made this much easier than it was a few years ago (and it was still easy then). Simply click the Change reservation button and put in your reservation #. A list of flights for the same dates of travel will pop up. Click what you want and the $$ will automatically be in a "credit" to you. NOTE: It will not credit your card, rather it is a credit for future air travel within one year of the original purchase date. Good luck.

Thank you so much! I now have almost $120 credit for next time! Now I guess there will HAVE to be a next time within 1 year :woohoo:

Ha Ha I know what you mean, I have taken quite a few trips that were not exactly planned because of travel credits with Southwest,
