Our family of 6 is flying SW. We didn't get advanced seating placement. We haven't flow with them before. How does the seating work, do they assign seats once you check in? We have kids 11,8,4,5 month, so kind of important to keep us togther.

You go in as a group, you party will be part of one of these groups. So you will have the advanced seat people in there, and maybe another regular group that went in before. You go in and pick an open seat.

Your priority will be finding a open set of three seat so a parent can sit with four and five year olds, or two pairs of seats so a parent can sit with 4 yo and a parent with 5yo.

I have no idea what the above means.

There are no assigned seats on Southwest. Try to check in 24 hours before your flight time to hopefully get A boarding passes. If not, you will be able to board after the A group and before the B group because of the 5 month old, and 4 year old.

Boarding is as follows:

Wheel chair/handicapped,

A group....A1 - A15 for business select,

A16 - A60.... A-list members, Ebcier's, rest of A's,

Then families with young children if they did not get in A group,

B1 - B60,

C1 - C whatever.

I fly SW everytime. In order to get an A seating you have to be on the computer exactly 24 hrs before your boarding time. Let's say your Flight is Friday at 7:30 AM, that means I am on the SW website on Thursday at 7:25 AM with my confirmation number all ready typed in and as soon as my screen says 7:30 I push enter. After you push enter the next screen will ask you to put a check in the box next to every name of the passengers with you. After you push enter on that screen you will be assigned your boarding category. You could also pay the $10 per person extra for early check-in. If you can't log on to SW 24 hours in advance make sure you do it as soon as you can, then when you arrive at the airport go to the desk at your gate and tell them you have a 5 month old and they will allow 1 parent to board with that child. Good Luck.

Did you check Southwest's website? Seating is explained there and you could also probably find answers to any other questions you may have.

Assuming you don't get in the A boarding group, I see no reason you won't be able to board as a family after the A group and before the B group, considering you will have a 4 year old and 5 month old.

There have been reports that flights to and from Orlando sometimes suspend family boarding or are VERY strict with how many can board. Sometimes they even lower the age that is allowed to preboard. If the OP is traveling to and from Disney, I would not count 100% on preboarding.

I"m assuming you are flying out of Milwaukee? My mother and daughter just flew out of Milwaukee on Tuesday and did not purchase EBCI...I was at my computer 10 min prior, even had a world clock so I made sure i had the EXACT time 24 hrs prior to their departure..I entered in their confirmation number and the name of one person and I watched the seconds count down to exactly 7:25 and i hit enter and they got A19 and A20...If you have multiple confirmation numbers then just open 2 screens and do it that way,one after the other..and then you can either print at home or have them printed at the airport..Did you buy a seat for your 5 month old? Make sure to take the birth certificate and get that taken care of..We were at the airport 3 hours early and there was no wait for the ticket counter...My mother did say the flight was VERY full so the earlier you can check in online the better the chance of you all sitting together will be..

just check in on line at the 24 hour mark and you'll be fine.

and you can go to guest services at wdw at the 24 hour mark on your way home and they will check you in.

if you're having someone from home check you in (easier than guest services, since you won't have to take time out of your day), remember that your flight is orlando time, in case they are in another time zone. you can print the boarding passes at the airport or when you get back to your hotel that night. or it will be with your DME paperwork.
