Southwest is KILLING ME!

I'm just glad I bought EBCI for our flight tomorrow because I can't even log in. It looks like check-in is functional, at least to start, but at work I don't have our confirmation numbers without logging in. So will try at home tonight but if not, no big deal because we should be already checked in.

I just got an email saying they extended the sale through Friday, due to the technical issues they've been having. Not that it helps us (our dates are still a LOT more expensive than the sale prices advertised)..but hopefully the extension will help some of you all get what you're looking for!!

Sometimes you just have to laugh. Decided to try to rebook to get travel funds. Last night, our flight was 99.00. Tried to access site all day...no luck. Then called and was on hold for 2 hrs. Finally decided to hang up. So, just got on the website and guess what...flight is now 132.00.

DD and myself have been trying to access website all day with no luck. Just able to get in and airfare $160 or more each way. Not much of a discount in my opinion.

I know. LOL. After this mess I thought they might offer "better" deals not worse.

There WERE better deals early-on, I think.

I only went on the Web site on Tuesday because my wife was hounding me about when we were going to buy tickets and I told her it was too early.

I had no idea a sale was going on, but let me tell you when I saw the prices I was offered, I booked ASAP, knowing that things can change in moments.

I tried to get on last night and had no luck. Got on VERY early this morning and prices had gone up since I had booked on Tuesday by about 15 percent....

For OUR dates, I checked Tuesday afternoon, like I always do, and didn't see any deals. Checked again as soon as I saw the email go out, and...nada for our dates. I think it depended on your dates, and your home airport. There might have been 99 one way's from BDL to MCO, on some dates, at some times...but I don't think they ever existed for OUR trip. YMMV. :)

I checked my already booked October flights on Wednesday morning. The price dropped one way by $70! We got a credit for $280 total. :) We then changed our Orlando bound flight to first thing in the morning :sunny:from last flight of the day :crazy2: and applied the credit.

We called at about 7am and the phone was answered immediately. Sorry to those of you who couldn't get through. That's so frustrating.

FYI - It appears the problem with logging into your rapid rewards account has been fixed. I was just able to change my flights I booked on points to the sale fares in points. It saved me a bundle!

Have you ever looked into Tampa? That's what we were planning on doing before the rates dropped. Even with renting a car, it was significantly cheaper. It's about an hour and 15 from airport to WDW.

we've done it in the past. week prior to memorial day drove RT from WDW to Clearwater Beach for beach break. Left Thursday from WDW area around 11 am and Clearwater on Saturday @ 7:30 am, experienced crazy heavy traffic almost the whole time both ways! has never been like that during numerous trips. There was some construction on I4 to deal with but moreso just so many cars. perhaps since before the holiday but I'd think twice before taking that drive again. good luck

How did everyone know there was a sale going on?

aside from email notification (you can sign up to receive on their website), it was lead story on local and national news as to their biggest sale of the year. buzz created the website issues.

My flight home I booked on release day in October from MCO is substantially lower than the sale fare i see. I did save a nice chunk on flight from west coast, but flight into Vegas had no change. Even with the sale, it's subject to availability and whether you got a good rate to begin with me thinks.

I did find that a short flight that I needed to book originally didn't have any savings when i checked the first day of the sale. It dropped 40% yesterday, problem is I cannot log into my account or book it points. >:(
