We are planning a trip for October 2005. We will want a 1 or 2 BR for our family and a studio for my niece and her two kids. What can we request to have the two rooms connecting or at least very close to each other? Do they have studios connecting to 1 or 2 BR units? We will originally make the reservations at BCV, our home resort, but may try to change them at the 7 month mark to a different resort because we'd like to try different resorts. How do you go about doing this? What happens when the points needed are different from the original reservation? Thanks in advance!

If you want a 1 Bedroom unit, then often there are "lock offs" that could be a two bedroom unit, or a 1 Bedroom unit with a conecting studio that could be "locked off". We're staying in such a one bedroom unit today at Hilton Head.

If you want a 2 Bedroom unit, then it will be much less likely that you would be able to get a studio that also connects. However you could certainly ask that they be on the same floor and close together.

DVC's ability to meet your request will be somewhat dependent on the amount of turnover when you check in. If you are checking in on a day with lots of turn over then they have more flexibility. If you are checking in on Sunday of the three day Columbus Day weekend, then they might have very little flexibility.

When you make the reservation, explain what you want. Be sure to prioritize the most important things to you first.

Hope this helps.

Which resort are you thinking of? At OKW, you will likely be in the same building, but not on the same stairway unless you want to be over and under. The lock offs become a one bedroom and studio, so there would be no advantage to doing a 1 bedroom PLUS a studio. It costs less points to do a 2 bedroom, and if you wanted a lock off, they could be a bit more private. If you are saying a 1 bedroom is big enough for you and a studio is big enough for your niece and her family, then a 2 bedroom lock off is your best and least costly choice at OKW.

You can request them to be close together, but there is no guarantee that they will be. The only way to guarantee it would be to reserve a 2 bedroom lockoff, which is a 1 bedroom and connecting studio. There are no 2 bedrooms connecting to a studio at any of the resorts.

Anyone else with any information?

If you're wanting someone else to agree with the other posters, I'll bite. :teeth:

If you decide you can get away with a Studio and a 1B, just reserve a lockoff 2B. Both rooms will have doors that lead to the hallway, and you can keep the connecting door closed if you wish. And it will save you a few points per night over booking the 1B and Studio separately.

If you need a 2B and a Studio, then you will not get connecting rooms. There are no 2Bs that have a connecting door into another Studio. You can request that the units be together, and the resort will attempt to accommodate, but there are no guarantees.
