Soft, relatively inexpensive towels

We are going to have a very full house for Christmas this year, which means I'm going to need to buy a bunch of bath towels for our relatively understocked linen closet. I'm trying to avoid spending $200 on towels (we'll need about 8-10 bath towels & about 6 hand towels). I know I can get cheapo towels at Walmart, but in my past experience those towels are either really scratchy or super small/thin.

So, I'm looking for ideas in where to buy towels that are soft & not super expensive. My ideas so far:
-Costco - problem here is that I need more bath towels than hand towels or wash clothes, and I usually only see full towel sets there
-Bed Bath & Beyond - I sometimes get coupons, but they are usually limited to 20% off one item
-Target - I got our current towels there, which are good but they would be a little pricey if I bought 8-10 of them
-Kohls - maybe an after Thanksgiving sale? But I hate dodging all the crowds

Any comments or other ideas? I'm also considering Amazon with free shipping on our Prime membership, but I don't know if I'll get the type or quality I want.

Big Lots has Tommy Hilfiger towels, which I think are pretty nice. Various colors and white, large bath size, 6$; two hand towels, 5$; and four wash clothes for 5$. I have seen them listed on eBay for three times what they cost.

I know it seems like it would be ridiculously expensive but I got bath towels on clearance at Macy's - and man they are beautiful. With my coupon I spent just about $120 for 16 towels, 2 hand towels and 10 facecloths. I just checked online they do have Ralph Lauren Towels on clearance: http://www1.macys.com/shop/product/...n=PRICE=0|9.99&sp=1&spc=96&ruleId=52&slotId=7

You could also check in store as the ones I got were not online when I got them.

I'd also check TJ Maxx or Marshall's if you have one in your area. They usually have great towels at a great price.

My Costco usually has bath towels that are separate from hand towels or washcloths...I would say check there first. If they only have sets like you are used to seeing, I would just go with Target...either Thomas O'Brien, Threshold, Fieldcrest Luxury or Target Home. They run about $10 per bath sheet I think.

For hand towels, keep in mind you can get less expensive for that size.

I purchase white bath towels so they can be bleached, and brands can be mixed if I need to replace some so they always match. :)

I bought individual towels at costco last week and they are super soft! $6.99 and they are large size.

Got some very nice Vera Wang towels at Kohls a few weeks ago. Hit a sale, plus had the 30% coupon and it came out to about $9 a bath towel.

I love my apt 9 quick dry towels from kohls. Not only are they soft, but they save me on drying time. My last guests liked them so much they went and bought their own.

Our Costco sells individual bath towels and and bath sheets. They are really nice quality. Their hand towels and wash clothes have been sold as sets lately though.

Every estate sale I attend has towels for next to nothing, some of them very nice quality. I'm not very cranky about colors, but even if you have one color scheme in mind, you should be able to find some well before Christmas. I could have filled a large linen closet for $20 yesterday if I had needed any.

Best towels we own are from IKEA. They are Saxan. Absorbent, fast drying, a little oversized & they were inexpensive. Best towels in house, we fight over them.

OP: I have several BB&B coupons for 20% off or $5 off if you'd like.

Try Marshalls/TjMaxx/HomeGoods. You can get them from $7.99- $9.99 for bath towel. Only a few bucks for washclothes. They even sell a bundle of washclothes for about $6.

Our BB&B will take expired coupons and you can use as many as you need. I never throw them away. :thumbsup2

Thanks :thumbsup2 I knew this but I was offering the OP the coupons to cut down their expenses since we never have a full house here. :sad1:
