So You Think You Can Dance Season 6

I won't get into the results show just yet as to not spoil the other time zones other than to say....I loved Wade's group number!

I need to get a "typing on phone" signature so people excuse typeos

Result show thought (obviously spoilerish)

I really loved Wade's routine. He just knows how to use the entire space and highlight everyone's strength.

I'll white out names for those on DVR.

I was EXTREMELY disappointed withe the female elimination. While Channing hadn't really shined yet Karen is so one-note IMO.

Karen's solo was aweful. I could have done a better job. I know doing a solo in that style is tough but I've seen decent ones. (Benji, Lacey, Heidi)

I thought they got the male elimination correct. Kevin IMO was by far the weakest dancer/performer still on the show.

Karen is on my last nerve and I really hope she goes next week along with her new partner. Neither are top 10 material in my opinion.

I was fine with the guy but definitely not with the girl. The one who survived might as well have danced around a pole.

I really really don't want to see any more of the guys go. Okay, I'd actually like Ryan to go but I don't think he will.

Legacy looked so worried, then so genuinely relieved when he wasn't in the bottom three. He's growing on me.

Channing wuz robbed! They're keeping Karen on purpose, even apologizing for her lame solo.

I think it was good for Mollee and Nathan to be in the bottom this week. They're talented and adorable, but this is a competition. If they want to win, they have to fight for it--no skating by on a cute smile.

Not surprised to see Kevin go, even though I liked him.

I agree on all points. I know Victor is a better dancer than Kevin, but I liked Kevin better.

Karen reminded me of a girl standing in the back of a rock and roll video with the way she shook her hips and flipped her hair.

My guess is that at the time she was eliminated, Channing had not seen Karen's solo (because she was getting ready for her own.) When she watches it she's going to flip out that Karen was chosen instead of her. It's just sex, folks. Which also doesn't really make sense, because straight males are probably the smallest category of voters.

I know you were purposely not posting names yet, but the pole dancer comment was pretty easy to figure out. :rotfl:

As soon as I saw the bottom 3 I knew poor Channing would be gone, no matter how the solos played out.

I just hope more talented dancers are not sent home too soon with the judges being so hell bent on saving Karen.

I also thought the group number was great!

Oh, so you didn't think I was referring to Mollee?;) Sorry about the spoiler.

Last night we turned on the DVR to watch the finale of America's Next Top Model. After the finale they had an "unseen footage show." When we first turned on the TV, that show was on with Nicole saying "I can't believe I'm America's Next Top Model." So much for being surprised!:rotfl:

Me, too. D has been looking for a song for her solo. I'm thinking that might work.

I was on twitter while watching the show and it was funny to see people's reaction. They really hate Mollee. I looked at what people sent Nigel and Adam after the results and most were livid with the female.

Lots of stripper references and how they were stating that the judges were more interested in sex than good dancing. It got funny.

Adam replied and was pretty offended at some of the comments. However he said if the one who stayed didn't step it up quickly she was gone. I think they gave her one more shot because she's actually showed some personality, even if it was a somewhat unlikable personality. Channing had been pretty invisible until this week. Which is sad because I think she is all around a better dancer.

Channing delivers what the judges have been asking her to do -- let her personality shine & perform along with her technique and she is eliminated instead of what?!

Her goodbye montage really drove home just how wonderfully she executed her dances, just needed to punch up the performance quality.

Please never let us suffer through one of Karen's "solos" again. I realize it's so very tough for ballroom dancers to perform a solo, so I don't expect it to wow me w/ great chreo or anything. It's very respectable to see them come out there & do what ballroom moves they can do solo -- and execute them w/ excellent technique & lots of personality. That's all good. Karen's solo was so the opposite of good, and I'm not sure I can even identify any ballroom in it. I could even live with her coming out w/ hip hop, contemporary, whatever. I don't know that it's set in stone they must dance their own style, but I'm pretty sure it's gotta be a requirement to actually dance.

Given the bottom three I felt Kevin was the one who should leave. I also felt Nathan should have been standing next to him, not Victor.

What is funny is that some of my favorite girl throughout the season's have been ballroom dancers. All with some solid solos.

Heidi
Lacey
Chelsie
Jeanette

Karen was pathetic and I can't believe that 'saved her life.' I know they said it was a chance for the one they had in mind to go to change their minds but I can't see how Channing didn't succeed at that when Karen's solo was such a trainwreck. Even Mollee's solo was mostly gymnastics. If we are comparing DANCE, Channing had the strongest solo of the night.

I don't hate Mollee as much as others seem too. Nathan either. I thought his solo was excellent. It was the 1st time I think I've seen him perform to his potential this season.

I don't care how good she is next week (watch, she'll pull latin ballroom) I want Karen gone! I googled and I think she is the Mambo champion. Haven't seen that style yet have we? What also surprised me about her is that she has a lot of contemporary and ballet training, until she met her (now ex) husband she wasn't focused on ballroom. Her non-ballroom and solos shouldn't suck as bad as they do.

^^^^Absolutely agree, particularly on a night when Nigel went on about how they use the phrase favorite dancer, but it has to go beyond personality & remember that they must be dancers.

Nigel also used the verboten "street" term last night, but that's a complaint for another day. :rolleyes1

You make a very good point. Most dancers don't come up dancing only one style...maybe dancers who have been serious about ballet their whole lives...lots of the dance company girls compete tap, jazz, modern, lyrical, hip hop and acro all the way through HS. The judges make such a big deal about the dancers' "style" but I think a lot of that is fabricated and that most have training in several styles.

I couldn't believe it when Karen said that she and her husband had decided to divorce.

So funny you should say that about Karen's divorce. DD & I both had the same reaction when the divorce was revealed -- wow, I bet that's a good thing for him. He was the one we both thought would get a chance to prove whether or not he deserved a place on the show, not her.

She strikes me as absolutely, 100-percent, self-absorbed in a very calculating way. Just the vibe she gives off to me. I was very surprised to see her tears when Kevin was eliminated, but I think she realized if there's no miracle she & Victor will be the ones eliminated next. The style & choreographer they "draw" next week will be very telling. If her tigress appears on my screen to smolder in a Rhumba next week -- DH better be ready to protect his precious flatscreen!

I was thinking that it might be good for Victor to be paired with her. If she smolders, maybe he will too, which will add some personality. I was glad to see his solo because I had forgotten how good he was.

I completely agree that they make too big an issue about each dancers one style of dance--most dancers I know take more than one style. My DD considers herself a tapper, but takes jazz, modern, hip-hop, and ballet. She's just strongest in tap, and that's what she loves. And she could have put on a much better solo than Karen did last night.

P.S. Wan't Benji primarily a partner dancer? Before he showed up, 98% of television viewers had probalby never HEARD of West Coast Swing! But yet, he showed up and wowed us every week. I don't think he ever had to dance for his life, but he had solos, and still managed to knock it out of the park.

I'm not understanding the hating towards Mollee--RadioNate, could you possibly explain what the thinking is there? I think she's adorable, if a little young. I'd hate to see her paired with Ryan--I think that could look kind of creepy.

I'm not sure I understand the attitude toward Mollee either. Maybe I'm missing something.

So let's look ahead to the top 10. Since we know that the judges try to influence who they think would make the best show, who do you think are the two to go? The guys are what is difficult for me, because I think Nathan, Jakob, Legacy and Russell are safe. So that leaves Ryan and Victor. I have the feeling they will want to keep Ryan and Ashley, so Victor goes.

It's harder for me to figure out the women. I think Mollee, Elenore and Ashley are safe. I hate to say it, but I think they're going to push for Karen, which leaves Noelle and Kathryn. Tough call there.

I want Elenore and Mollee to stay. I'm not attached to any of the other girls.

I think they'll do whatever they need to do to keep both Ryan and Ashleigh in the top 10 so they can go on tour and dance as a couple. Unfortunate, but I think that's true.

While I agree with your logic, I think it will be tricky to get rid of Kathryn. She and Legacy have really been doing great, and building a fan base. I really hope they ditch Karen next. Actually, I would be fine with Ryan and Ashleigh both going, I'm over them. Butl the tour always includes the top 12, at least, so they would be together, regardless. And other people on the show have been married--you go on tour without your spouse, you cope, you see each other when you can. That's life.
