My mouth dropped when he said Russell had to do a solo. I'm so happy he stayed and I hope he goes far. I really like him.

I also hope Brandon gets to come back. I felt bad for him.

I wonder if they could bend the rules to allow Billy back too? I'd love to see him next season. He is seriously talented!

I wondered the same thing. If the rules change that Brandon can come back, wouldn't that change apply to Billy too? I guess it would depend on how it was worded but if they did something like "top 20 performers who never went to an 'audience vote' and performed in 1 or less 'performance shows' are eliagable to return to the audition process and future Top 20's" could apply to both Brandon and Billy while locking out any other 1st round cast-offs.

For this episode they did. Because of the performance show on Monday there was no 'viewer vote.' The judges had 4 people dance for their life and then they cut 2.

FWIW - I think at least 3 of the 4 people they chose would have been in the bottom 6 if there had been a viewer vote. They also didn't do it strictly by couple. I'm not sure if that was last night or will be a season 6 voting change.

So disappointed about Billy Bell, but very grateful to have Jakob. Travis' choreo was once again outstanding, as was Dave Scott's hip hop routine -- and the performers in it.

Some of the dancers are already irritating me beyond belief -- particularly the married couple. The "Broadway" number she performed in was a choreographic joke & obvious manipulation to keep her in it. Jakob did all of the dancing, while she kind of hung out & vamped it up for rave reviews??? No Thanks. The disco # was a joke too -- difficult choreo, good attempt, but they too looked like a prom couple out there. Nathan needs to get away from Mollee ASAP.

Brandon, the replacement for Billy Bell but Nigel did make a point of saying that he would talk to Fox about allowing Brandon to audition and potentially make the Top 20 again next year. He was only flown in a day and a half before they taped the show.

The girl was Ariana. She wasn't someone seen a lot during the audition process and she did have a very weak performance IMO (hip hop) and ok solo.

Interesting question. Even though he was picked for the top twenty, he never appeared on the show. So does that mean he will be allowed to come back? I thought that was a pretty clasy think Nigel did for Brandon and I hope Fox agrees.

I saw that someone didn't like the disco routine--I was expecting it to be bad, but we loved it here.

DH and I were SHOCKED that Russell had to dance for his life, but now that we have had time to think about it, I'm sure they planned on sending Brandon packing before he set foot on the stage, so chose Russell so we could all see his solo.

I said the same thing to my husband. I noticed immediately that he was missing from the intro, and I knew something was wrong. I hope he can also have a chance at coming back because as far as I'm concerned, he was a front runner.

I think there's a difference between Billy and Brandon. Brandon never actually made the top 20. But I wish they had just brought Brandon back as a sub for Billy, not as a potential "top 18", and canned the elimination. Have him dance one night, bow out, and then there would have been no issue about his being able to audition again.

I do, however, hope that Billy gets the option again as well.
