So You Think You Can Dance Season 6

I saw her audtion episode and never heard it.:confused3

Remember when they were filming her in her empty apartment, telling the story about how her family just up and moved to LA for her career - just packed stuff in the trunk and now they were sleeping on air mattresses? That's when she said she had danced in HS Musical, but that her career hadn't really gone anywhere since then so she wanted to move to LA, so her mom did.

Totally missed that...but I plead morning sickness.

So waht did everyone think of lasts nights dances. I really enjoyed the Afro-Jazz. That was the highlight of the night for me. I also like Mandy Moore's dance. Still having trouble remembering everyone's names!

I'm watching right now ... Thoughts later.

All I know is that I'm not loving this season so far.

I haven't watched it, yet--but I had the same feeling last season sort of.

It's like the choreographers were afraid to choreograph a better routine so as not to throw off the contestants who were not in that genre.

It seems that as the dancers get better as a group, the top 20 shows get weaker.

It's not supposed to be an inverse relationship.:confused3

I loved the Afrodance routine. Noelle and Russell were fantastic. I also enjoyed the Hustle routine earlier in the evening.

I did not like Ryan and Elenore's Hip-Hop routine. They were not believable, it looked like Ryan was just dancing. I understand that he is a ballroom dancer but that does not make him exempt from executing a genre that he is not comfortable with. The judges seemed to be making excuses for a poor performance IMO.

Poor Molly and Nathan, salsa was not the dance for them. I like both of them but this was not their night.

I did nto want to like Legacy but Hly Moly, he can dance! He seems to be living in the genre that he gets each week. I believe that he is thriving in this totally dance environment.

I am not getting the judges infatuation with Ashleigh :sad2: There is something about her that skeeves me out but then her Ryan does the same thing to me. They make me :scared: yet the judges seem to want them to stay :confused3

I agree, the afro jazz & the Mandy Moore numbers were very good. Overall choreography last night was kind of blah. The new set is annoying & I thought it detracted from the Stacey Tookey contemporary number with the flower backdrop/lighting.

I couldn't believe some of the judge commentary last night. Ashley, glowing reviews again, but an almost grudging acceptance of Jakob's work???? Kevin & Karen, hot tamale train again??? Looked awkward. I assumed they were just rubber stamping their favorites until Nathan & Mollee got thrown under the bus. Although I do agree, their salsa just didn't have it. Wasn't feeling their semi-approval of Peter/Pauline's quickstep either.

Didn't feel Jakob, Ellenore or Kathryn got anywhere near the respect their efforts deserved IMO.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Ashley and Ryan. I also don't like them and am wondering if the fan vote will be different then the judges views.

Jakob is just really amazing. They did point out his flexibility and his jumping ability but seemed to downplay it. That stuff has a huge wow factor to it.

I also did not like Legacy in the audition rounds. But I am loving him now. I love to see the dancers grow and he is clearly growing - along with the other hip hoppers - Russell and the other one - I can't remember his name. The all just seem to really appreciate the chance to work and improve and you have to love that!

It is kind of like Kayla last season. She was amazing to start - so she continued to dance amazing - but she didn't really grow. It was more fun to see underdogs and people learning.

Still like the show and am enjoying seeing some new choreographers but I miss Mia!

I did nto want to like Legacy but Hly Moly, he can dance!

Are you channeling Mary there? :lmao:

Add me to the bandwagon for the Afro Jazz routine. I really like Russell. He can dance AND he has personality. Ryan, I'm not liking so much. The open shirt bit during the intros was a little too self serving, if you ask me.

:lmao::lmao:

Ryan believes all the hype about him :rotfl:. The judges made a lot of his "sex appeal' when they added him to the top 20. I did not get it then and I don't get it now but I think that Ryan believes it ;) Blech!

I'm hoping that tonight will be one of those nights where the voting doesn't go with the judging. I hope that Ashleigh and Ryan go--don't care for either of them.

Nathan and Mollee could just stand there and they'll make the top 10, IMHO. I agree the salsa wasn't the best for them, but I don't think it'll matter.

He is just trying to be Dmitri....whom I can *swoon* over.:faint:

Ryan...not so much.

I've liked Legacy all along. I remember thinking that if they put him through to Vegas he'd have no chance with the other styles. I'm glad he's proving me wrong! He seems to really want this, and he's putting everything he has into every dance. I hope he and Kathryn go far.

I agree that Nathan and Mollie should be safe. I found her very annoying in the beginning but she's growing on me.

I don't dislike Ashleigh and Ryan, but I'm not big fans of theirs. I think she is doing a lot better than expected, and maybe him not quite as well as expected. I think Ashleigh will be safe for awhile because of Jakob.

I really enjoy Russell and I'm glad he got good reviews last night. He's another fun surprise in the top 20. I loved their routine last night.

The hot tamale girl...she's good but I don't like her nearly as much as the judges seem to.

There are several dancers I just don't care much for. Peter and Pauline can go anytime, as far as I'm concerned. They get lost in the crowd for me. Channing is a disappointment so far too. Her fun personality off the stage doesn't seem to translate into her dancing. She's forgettable.

I was disappointed in a lot of the choreography last night. They need to step it up. The dancers, no matter how good they are, can only dance to what they're given.

I came home last night and D was actually watching The Biggest Loser instead of SYTYCD! I'll have to catch up tonight (after ANTM!)

It's funny how the dancers are kind of surprising me this season. Legacy seems to be truly inspired by each style that he draw. I really respect that. I found him a little skeevy right up until he broke down after Mia Michaels choreography. I believe he is pushing to do well for himself now and not for the applause.

I think Ryan was a letdown for the judges as well. He seemed to skate through Vegas but he is not living up to the hype. Ashleigh is working hard but I think that you are right. She will be fine as long as she is partnered with Jakob.

I saw the results show but will wait to comment after I know that you all have seen it.

...I also enjoyed the Hustle routine earlier in the evening.....

....it was okay - after seeing Brandon and Jeanette [Season 5] perform THEIRS live, nothing comes close for me...:guilty:
