I'm glad the audition stage is over. I love the live shows in the small studio; it's my favourite stage of the whole thing.

The young guy (don't know his name and I can't look it up for fear of revealing the result) has got to be a contender. He's a natural star in the ilk of Fantasia Barrino and Leona Lewis.

I usually watch this right from the first auditions, but with all our problems haven't really been in the mood to watch it at all this time round.

But with everything sort of settled now, I think I will start watching it. I like the live shows - that was always my favourite part too.

Are there any favourites to win........... so I can watch out for them.

I love this, have had to sky plus it tonight as my lounge is overrun with teenagers as ds is having a sleep over:scared1:

Not me, I'm not a fan of AI or X Factor - I hope you all enjoy it though :thumbsup2

Loving it Deb, its one of my favorite programmes, still think Fantasia's year was the best ever, she was/is superb:thumbsup2

Is it the same show as the US? I only ask because I've heard countries all over the world have there own versions of it. If it is I personally am cheering for the two "non americans" , the Austrailian guy and the girl who is from Ireland. They are so much better than all the rest.

yes.. im with you.. i think that the young guy will win :)

cant remember his name either!

I'm loving this Idol, great voices!

The young guy, David Archuleta is AMAZING and he's so cute too :goodvibes But my favourite guy is the Aussie Michael Johns, great sexy rock voice and he's not bad the eyes either ;)

For the girls my favourite is the rock chick Amanda, her voice is just incredible. I also love Brooke (the hippie girl) the Irish girl Carly and Ramiele, the petite girl.

I've seen the elimination show so i'll stay quiet about what happens. Great show though, Simon on top form as usual...

I personally didn't like fantasia i thought Carrie's year was the best with Bo Bice, Constantine Maroulis (YUM!!) Anthony Federov etc with the exception of Scott Savel LOL In another year anyone of them could have won. I agree with the predictions for this series i think David stands a really good chance.

I'm a HUGE Carrie Underwood fan. Loved Bo and Constantine, too during the rounds, but haven't bothered to check out either of them since. I do love Daughtry, though (Chris Daughtry's band. Duh! ;) ).

This year there don't seem to be any duds. (Who could forget Scott Savel. Or Sanjaya (sp?) :rotfl: ). If David Archuleta doesn't win this season, though, it'll be a miracle. I'm choked watching him. All the performers are great singers, but he is a star, pure and simple.

He was good this week - really edgy rock voice which the other rocker guys lack (even though I thought Jason Castro ran a very close second to David last week).

What did you guys think of this week's eliminations? I thought they were spot on really. Was glad to see Simon be nicer to Chikezie (sp?).

The young kid David Archuleta just blew me away with his song 'Imagine'...it made me cry. Is it sad to cry watching American Idol?! :rotfl2: Never mind, he was THAT good! :goodvibes

Debbie,
16 year old Aliana Whitaker, a contestant on this year's Idol and a Carrie look alike, is from Tulsa.

Mother and I watched the movie (The Fantasia Barrino Story (based on her autobiography Life is Not a Fairy Tale) on the Lifetime Network a couple of weeks ago. Not a fairy tale?!!! What an understatement. I knew nothing about her life until seeing that movie. It's amazing she's alive, much less a Grammy winner in a sell-out Broadway show.

Yes, I wasn't particularly sorry to see any of them go. I do think the standard is very high this year but, as Ryan pointed out, someone has to go every week.

She was eliminated this week, Susan. She does look spookily like Carrie Underwood - they could be sisters. David Archuleta (also 16, I think) was distraught and she went over to him after her departing performance for a hug, so I wonder whether they've become an item?

So, Debbie, sit over here by me and we'll dish. I've heard that Aliana's mom is a teacher at a school where I taught years ago. Wonder if I can sleuth about a bit and find out about a possible romance? 16 and in Hollywood--what a fantasy that must all seem.
