So, What is it Like With NO MK Night Time Parade? :((

I don't have one. I can only quote.

You used it in reference to MSEP and Spectro .... so I guess my question is are you using the word in the context of an encore of another parade or was in the context of just repeating FoF each day?

RoL is rumored to start before that. I don't see where you are getting that info
RoL should be starting previews within the next couple of weeks.

It's been rumored to start since September. And with nothing official from Disney, I wouldn't hold my breath for it to be fully debuted until at least the end of the year (nov/dec)

I highly doubt it'll be going before then end of Oct

The Mack Truck is the biggest concern. It's been said that float wouldn't fit the route at MK.

That one definitely, but the whole Cars unit would struggle with the parade route - no question.

You aren't going to get anything official from Disney until they are absolutely certain. We likely won't even get an announcement of an opening date until previews are already taking place. It will debut before the end of the year I am confident in that.

When I referenced "encore", I was only quoting. The subsequent notes about the other parades were merely my conjecture on what it could mean or not mean in terms of the possibilities we know - I have no more information beyond the conjecture. I've been given no more information in that regard than anyone else here.
And so I have to repeat again - *there is no current known plan that an "encore" parade will be coming to Main Street*. There is only that little teaser thrown out by someone remarkably-well connected, that some sort of "encore" may be among the options being considered, and that this may be part of the reason why there is not yet an announcement about the future of the parade.

Okay. Just wondering if it mirrored something I was told.

We may have sources that get info from the same place, so it might be the case.
My contact isn't afraid to share information that isn't secret, but is naturally very careful not to share anything that shouldn't go outside the conference rooms. So (s)he really enjoys dropping little hints, and letting me speculate.

Just my thoughts, but it is beginning to feel like Disney has some kind of master plan for the coming 5 years (well more to the point 4 years) to get the Magic Kingdom ready for 2021.

I think you will be seeing a new Celebrate the Magic (I will rush down to see the original before it goes), a replacement to Wishes, Illuminations, a permanent, whole-park nighttime experience at whatever DHS becomes. Major work done to the Contemporary, including a rumored use of the Persian Resort land for a second DVC property. New Communicore/Innovations pavilions, a replacement to Helen's Energy Adventure, updates to World Showcase, major work on the Festival Center. Even a second major attraction in the Land Pavilion is not out-of-the-question.

I also think there is a good possibility that from now until 2021 a new land will be opened in Magic Kingdom itself. Why spend 5 billion to build a new park, when you can spend 1 billion to build a new land that people will eat up.

I just think that Disney is playing the long game right now, and in the short term it is going to be rough. But in the long-term; I've already started to save to be there for two weeks for the 50th.

OK, so between you and Cigar95, my curiosity is peaked. Can you share what was it you were told?
Hopper clearly has more details than I do - I'm not exaggerating when I said I just got a teaser. Really nothing more for me to add.

ETA - here's the most directly useful quote, in response to the backwards-worded observation "I wonder if Disney isn't trying to get away from nighttime parades":

"Yes, we are NOT. The MK is the MK, and the pattern there works very well." That much seems pretty clear. MK is a place that has a parade at night.

I wouldn't mind if FoF took the place of MSEP for a little while until a dedicated night time parade comes around. I've always found it more difficult to fit the 3pm parade into our plans, and I think that FoF parade is fantastic. We just have a hard time seeing it. We're either back at the resort taking an afternoon break, like this past August, or busy doing other attractions. Having FoF at night works better with our schedule, plus we're not out baking in the sun to see it. The flames of the dragon would be awesome at night.

Just my thoughts.

Dan

Honestly, part of me has always wondered if Celebrate the Magic was always intended to eventually replace the parade, as the Wishes "pre-show"

That said, anything is possible going forward. My guess is they aren't rushing anything for the rest of 2016, since between Halloween Party and Xmas party, there will be a night parade running in the Magic Kingdom many nights (although only for those paying a whole second admission, of course, IMO the biggest scam Disney has, but I digress)

Yes. I agree. MK without a night time parade ......... that is an obvious hole. When folks say there will be no more, even without any knowledge I disagree. I think DHS would go back to no fireworks/evening show other than Fantasmic, AK would never have added night time activity if the plan was for MK to be "dark". If Disney were going the UO/IOA route of year round early closings and then renting out parts of the park or after hour events, then yes I could see that. I don't think they can compete in that arena, so I don't see it happening.

I'm not worried. I see "rumors of light" for MK .......... and AK. :D

I think with the staffing/costs that they will save for the rest of 2016 they would have a nice nest egg to start the year with!

In addition to the staff that works the parade hours (taping/roping the areas, vectoring guests, controlling lines etc) plus the fact that the few nights MK is open there is the huge influx of people that seek to go to the MK just because of the parade / FW / longer hours those days, they might see more evening out of their staffing needs across all aspects of the park.

I suspect that they also plan to have ROL rolling reliably by thanksgiving to suck (um, distribute?) the crowds to animal kingdom. I also think that this is why the Star Wars fireworks are planned for nights MK is open - to help disperse the crowds because MK is somewhat unbearable those evenings.

I looked back at the schedule from 2002 when we had our honeymoon for 10 nights in September. I think that the parade ran once a week and fireworks twice a week! That's it! (This was pre-party era)

2002 is not a good year to compare with the current situation. All the tourism industry had a huge decline following Sept 11 2001. This is why we saw the coming of A Year of a Million Dreams and free dinning. 2002 was a very low crowd year, all year, therefore the parks decided to cut hours and entertainment

I think that we have seen several reports on the boards that this year has also been lower crowds than previous years for several key times...maybe the parallel isn't so far away this year...

Management seems to think price increases and entertainment cuts are the answer this time around.

Not at the same level of "dead" as it was for the years following 9/11
