So, What is it Like With NO MK Night Time Parade? :((

We are arriving the first week in November and I feel quite disappointed at the closures Disney has introduced recently - no night time parade at MK, no Star Wars fireworks at Hollywood Studios, half Hollywood Studios seems to be closed, Jungle Book has disappeared at Animal Kingdom and there seems to be no sign of Rivers of Light appearing anytime soon. Yet Disney continues to increase their prices regularly! Unfortunately, I think this will be our last visit for a few years. I realise there are lots of new areas being built at the moment but that doesn't the help the guests who are visiting right now. Sorry for the rant, I'll get over it, just looking forward to some sunshine in November. Hopefully, that should do the trick

Star Wars fireworks are still around and will be for awhile.

From reviews, you're not missing anything from missing the jungle book show. RoL is rumored to be starting around the end of the year or next year.

Really not much has closed and there's still a ton left

I can only see Star Wars fireworks on until November 5th on Disney's website and our tickets don't start until the 6th.

I still stand by what I said that Disney is shutting too many rides and shows all at once but are all too happy to charge me more. Walt will be turning in his grave!

We are regular visitors for family vacations. Infact - we are currently flying home from our 3rd one week trip this year.

We rarely watch the night time parades - and when we do - we never wait more than 5 minutes for them and still secure great seats. My kids are about 6 and 10 - they like parades passing in front of them but not waiting!

What struck me about our trip this time was how many things we did this trip that we had 'never done before' (referencing the last 8 years that my kids remember).

Since our last trip there are obvious new things like Star Wars Galactic Spectacular, FEA, Soaring Over The World, AK Nighttime, Muppets in MK...but in the past two trips we have enjoyed the original Star Wars fireworks, launch bay, playground at Flower an Garden and some oldies not tried before - like Carousel of Progress, Great Movie Ride, and Tom Sawyers Island.

I just don't buy the responses here that new visitors will notice or not enjoy themselves unless that's what they WANT - and frankly - I'm sure repeat visitors can find new (but maybe old) things that appeal to them that they never really try because they are spending so much time on the curb!!

When we left the park tonight at 4:30pm, there were ALREADY many families sitting on the curb on Main Street for the Halloween Parade! I could not get over how many moping children I saw sitting on the curb who would likely be there until 8:30 tonight! OMG - that's crazy!!

If you read the Star Wars thread, you would know that they are announced a few weeks before the trip and will likely continue on the 4/night per week schedule.

We got tix for the dessert party and the fireworks and it was awesome! Very worth the wait and the massive rain storm that drenched us that afternoon!

Thanks for the info, fingers crossed that you are correct :)

When a plan drops, a new plan sometimes includes placeholders .................. example: Jungle Book Alive.

In reverse I see:

-2021, 50th, new Nighttime Parade, probably brand new, new Wishes and new Celebrate It projection
-2020, I don't see Easter becoming any bigger than it is now and doubt funds will be spent on that
-2019, I don't see any funds spent to change it other than some characters, maybe a new Castle show
-2018, I don't see major funds spent but I do see maybe a couple new floats, some current just don't fit well
-2017, I do see a new nighttime parade but one they do not have to build from scratch ....
-2016, I do believe FoF is being fitted with enough lighting to run at night

I would love to see a purple glow on that dragon, the right lights could make the FoF parade cool.
From what I've heard if they run FoF at night it would be similar to the way they run the holiday parades using the floodlights above Mainstreet. FoF does have a bit of lighting on the floats already.

As for Christmas a new castle stage show is coming this year.

RoL is rumored to start before that. I don't see where you are getting that info
RoL should be starting previews within the next couple of weeks.

Disney has been updating the Star Wars fireworks on a month by month basis.

While Disney has been making a lot of changes some not for the better what rides have closed? Blacklot tour? Stitch? That's two...

As for shows they shut down LMA and now MSEP... 3 of those 4 things are being replaced with a high possibility of the 4th also being replaced.

I got a report from my WDI contact that the plan is definitely *not* to leave Main Street empty in the evenings. No announcement for the moment, due to the special event parades that will fill many nights for the rest of '16.
Then (s)he got really coy dropping a hint about "possible encores". Can't imagine what that would mean, given that MSEP is gone and Spectro is non-existent. Travesty of Dreams isn't physically suitable for bringing to Main St., so I can't fathom what encore is even possible. Again, note - this ISN'T part of the current plan, it's just something that is on the table for consideration while they try to make a decision.

What is your interpretation of "encore"?

By encore do you mean an encore of FoF at night?

sorry to correct you but it's Tapestry not Travesty, I loved that parade

FoF would be my guess.

I know that's what Martin on the other boards has hinted at - hoping some other people start to hear the same and we see some concrete evidence of heading in this direction to at least hold MK over until the new parade is given the green light (which I hope is before a premiere date of 2021.

I read that some Paint the Night floats are too big to go over the Liberty Square bridge.

^ This ^

Chernabog from SpectroMagic just barely fit across the bridge, and was usually driven by the most expert float driver available (that's just one of the reasons why Chernabog would be scrubbed from Spectro nightly, but I digress ...).

Having seen PTN a handful of times, I can definitely think of three or four floats (B&B, Frozen, Cars, Monsters Inc.) in their current makeup that are wider than Chernabog and would most CERTAINLY not be able to fit across the bridge. Also, the Disneyland parade route is not as "windy" as the one at MK - floats don't have to make turns around 90-degree angles and don't circle the Hub like they do at WDW. I can say almost with certainty that the Cars unit of PTN would struggle mightily at WDW in its current state.

I think FoF is a very likely placeholder but I do not seeing it running at night for long.It was not designed to be a night parade. I do agree some floods will be used but I also think there will be lighting added .... if it hasn't already ...

I am curious what PP meant by "encore" since (1) he mentioned two past parades and he (2) is talking to someone inside. I have also heard some information that is being discussed ... just wondering how close the two might be.

It definitely would only be a placeholder but we all know how long placeholders can last at Disney.

My guess is encore would be FoF. It would still be run during the day and then the "encore" is at night.

The Mack Truck is the biggest concern. It's been said that float wouldn't fit the route at MK.
