So furious right now!!!!!!

tell the mom that her "apology" would not be enough. You want the destruction stopped and your items replace (or cash equivalent) or you will have to file a police report to get the damage stopped. remind her of the "three strikes" rule...

but she would probably not mind a few months to a few years break from him... so that might not work either.

PUMPKIN SMASHER UPDATE:

Ok, hunted down the landlord after a lot of digging. Just had a very long conversation with him, he is an elderly gentleman that lived in that home years ago. Apparently these people do not pay rent at all, and he has been trying to evict them for months. He said they are pretty familiar with the process and dragging it out for as long as possible in court. He also said that they have done a lot of damage to his property, and he has called the police on them numerous times for drugs, fights, damage etc etc. There is an older brother in the family that is already in prison as well. He said that several neighbors have already called the police on them but that it hasn't done a lot of good, but he also told me for my safety he would not recommend it, as they have been retaliating against him, his car, his house, and his family. After talking to him, pumpkins are really not that big of a deal. He offered to replace my pumpkins, can you imagine? This poor man! He sounded like a very sweet man, I feel sorry for him.

So to the previous poster who mentioned the slashed tires and keyed cars, this poor landlord has been dealing with all of that. He was a very sweet man, he told me just to avoid them and steer clear, and he hopes to have them gone as soon as possible. He also told me that the next time their unregistered uninsured car is parked on the street he is getting it towed. He said if we see them driving, he hopes we will call the police, but told us not to give a name. He wants them gone, we want them gone, so I think they need to GO!

DEFINITELY call the police! Seriously, who knows, catch him this time and maybe he'll think twice before he decides to smash your windows next. :sad2:

Yup, OP, that was me!!! And as I said in the large scheme of things...the smashed pumpkins can be replaced...so move on and don't give the PUNK family the time of day! :thumbsup2

Oh I would be so mad! It sounds as though the landlord has good advice to stay away, its not worth risking more property or safety. Hopefully they are gone soon.

Too bad the guy couldn't sell his hosue - then he'd be rid of them for good (and I think the eviction would go through faster, no?)

Sorry about all of that .. that was sweet of the landlord to offer to replace your pumpkins :) Although I don't think I'd ever take him up on it, it was VERY nice of him to be so understanding of your situation.
