I wasn't quite sure where to post this, so maybe someone can redirect this.
I bought a small Alice In Wonderland snowglobe a week ago at WDW, the one where the characters are on a teacup and only the White Rabbit is in the small snowglobe part. It was wrapped in tissue paper, but it didn't have a box. Well I didn't want to pack it with my checked luggage for the flight leaving Orlando airport and risk it being broken. So I had packed it in my carry on tote bag. Well.....it didn't get through security.....duh....it has more than 3oz of liquid in the snowglobe. I hadn't even thought of that. The security guard says a lot of people buy snowglobes at WDW and don't even think about putting it in their checked luggage because they don't want it to break. So he gave me three options: 1) I check my tote bag and hope for the best 2) ask the Disney store in the airport if they would mail it to my home address or return the item if I had my receipt with me (which I didn't) or 3) He would throw it away and it would be destroyed.
My mom got out of line and checked my bag with the snowglobe in nothing but tissue paper and a Disney bag.....I actually saw my bag loaded into the plane and the way everything (including my bag) was thrown on to the conveyour belt I was sure I would have a bag full of glass, water, and bits of Wonderland. It surived and is now sitting happily on my bookshelf!!!
Though I would advise anyone who is getting a snowglobe of any size to pack it safely in their checked luggage. It didn't even occur to me so I thought I would pass it along to others so they can avoid a similar situation!
