~Snowbird Chat 2~

Hey girl!! How have you been?!!!

I can't seem to keep up with life these days. Too many kid activities and not enough DIS time. I miss you all. I'm glad I have so many of you of Facebook, though. I can at least stay up to date there.

Congrats on your baby girl, Becca!!

I would love to go back the end of Jan first of February…don't know if we will make it!! Since we just went!!:)
where are you staying this time?

two days until our trip..... I really need to get the suitcase out.... feeling achy all over.... hope it goes away before we head south!!! And I hope this crazy snow doesn't interfere with our flights!!!

Hi everyone! I haven't been in the DIS in ages!!! We are busy as usual and I am so happy that I am friends with many of you on FB. If we're not, please come find me!

Only one more week of school for Madison before Christmas break...woo hoo! Cole has been sick this week (fever for 3 days and now he is stuffed up) and now I am starting to feel crummy (sore throat). I am pretty much done Christmas shopping and I did a ton of it online this year. The shorter season has really made things crazy.

We do not have a family trip to Disney planned right now, but I will be going at the end of September for an agency meeting (we had one last August). Next year it will be at the Yacht Club right at the beginning of Food & Wine! So excited about that. Maybe I will get a trip to WDW for Christmas!

Maggie..hope you are better by the time your trip comes!!!!! Meghan…we have all had the same thing since our vacation…I am so tired of sniffing and feeling run down…I am not actually feeling SICK, just all the stuffy feeling and being tired…kids have had it in turns, some cough, some just sniff and blow their nose all day…we are really tired of it I tell ya!
Hope you get a trip for Christmas too!!!!

It's been awfully quiet in here lately!!! I hope Maggie got to feeling better before their trip! I am pretty much done with Christmas shopping~I have NEVER been this far behind before!!! I have a couple of GCs to pick up, but I can just grab those~not major shopping for that. This is the first year that I have not sent Christmas cards! I feel like a heel~but by the time we all got over the severe sinus stuff, it was too late. DS14 is taking his last two finals this morning, DS18 takes his last one tomorrow morning and we are finished!!!!
I didn't post about it when we were in the midst of it, but to add to the chaos of why I am behind, we sold our house!! We listed it in July, and had pretty regular showings. October mid month was the last one~then it got very quiet and we had no calls or anything…went to Disney, got home on Sat night, Sunday I finished laundry and putting up luggage and getting boys ready for school on Monday morning. That evening we had a call from a realtor wanting to show to people who are relocating for a job. She wanted to show it the next morning (Monday) and we said sure, but were a little concerned because of the weather we were having…it was when we had a very hard freeze and TONS of icy rain…it was just terrible to be out. So, I turned on all the Christmas lights, a Christmas CD and the gas fireplace and left. They really liked it but couldn't really afford it…this went on till Tuesday(the back and forth communication) and then we figured that they just couldn't get it. Realtor calls back Wed morning and asks if they can come one more time for just a minute to look at the pool and yard since it was pouring the first time they came. We said sure and they stayed almost an hour! Said they were going to think about it over thanksgiving and would let us know that Friday evening. Well, they called at lunch and we signed the contract! They sent a home inspector on Sat, Mon we had 2 other inspectors and we are set to close in Jan.
The crazy thing is that we have a spec house in our other subdivision that is almost complete and I kept hoping it wouldn't sell because we just can't fit in an apartment!! Even the 3 bedroom ones here are SUPER small. And most of our stuff would have to go to storage and we didn't want that…so anyway, … as the time for the other house to be finished got closer, I was more antsy that it would sale and then ours would sale and then what?! But, I had prayed about it a lot and I know that God's timing is perfect…and it was!! So,..mid January I should be pretty much moved into the new place…they ended up with a late January closing date, so I can move things slower than what we first anticipated. God is so good!
So…that is part of why I felt so out of control with my Christmas this year…and I have started purging again…this house we are moving to is definitely a smaller house and I love the fact that we can scale down on some of the things we have.. I am a minimalist at heart!! DH…not so much!! LOL!!!
So…what have you all been up to aside from the general Season's crazy schedules?!!

Congrats on the home sale!! That's got to be one of the most stressful things!

I'm back from my Celebrity cruise - I don't get crazy during this season (especially this year), as we celebrate Chanukah, which started on Thanksgiving this year. Talk about a short season!

Anyway, we had a fabulous time! Service was impeccable, food was good,, activites fun. Parents of the kids on board said that the kids loved the children's programs.

We don't have a Disney World trip but I'll be going to Anaheim for business at the end of September. So guess where I'm going??? It'll be only my second time there, but it should be fun!

Congrats on the home sale!! We moved back in March and it went much like yours. Ours was quicker but we went right from old home to speck home. It made the move so much easier than having to go to an apartment first.

So sorry to hear about all of the sickness going around. Knock wood but we've not experienced too much sickness this year. Chase had an ear/sinus infection a few weeks ago and is stuffy again. Rylan had a very mild to around to with stomach bug about 3 weeks ago but it was short lived. Since Rylan's diabetes diagnosis, he has been surprisingly healthy. We are coming up on the one year anniversary of his diagnosis.

We are going to Disney in Jan 2015 and I'm hoping to take Chase in April just for a few days. I have to wait to see if Matt can change his work schedule around. They can't have too many people off the schedule at once. He promised me he would know tomorrow :) Chase is finally 40" and wants to ride the "big rides".

I *think* I'm ready for Christmas. I just have some stocking stuffers to pick up and then wrap. It was a bad year for shopping this year. Neither boy could tell me what they wanted, making it tricky to get what they wanted. Chase somehow worked out, at the age of just 4, that Santa isn't real. No idea how but he did.

Hi fellow snowbirds!
We are plugging away up here in the northland! Yes, it's cold, yes we have snow and yes, I do believe I'm FINALLY done Christmas shopping (TODAY!). I've been off the DISboards for like 10 days - seems like months! I have come to realize I likely will never find the time to do a TR about Alaska - maybe I'll just do a little thread with pictures. But we leave for Disneyland in a little over 2 months! I'm so unprepared!! I hope someone gets me a guidebook for Christmas! I had to return my library copy. It's definitely less planning-intensive than a WDW trip, but I also don't know the parks at all, so I want to gather info!

We are having my family over for Christmas day as usual, so I've been shopping and cleaning this weekend. DH has been working like a dog - lots of mail to deliver and messy roads just slow it down. Luckily there's OT pay!

Shawna - Congrats on the house sale and impending move! What great timing! Be sure to send me your new address!

Hi Meghan! I'm glad we are friends on FB too! It's nice to be able to keep in touch.

Shelly - Snowbird!!! It's soon!

snykymom - That's cool that you had such a great cruise! Good to know that the kids on board enjoyed it too. We've shied away from anything other than DCL because of that. Might try Royal some day. DH would probably rather die first. He's worse than any of us!

I hope all who celebrate had a wonderful Christmas Day.

As for me, I upheld our Christmas tradition - Chinese food and a movie! :rotfl2:

Did everyone survive the holiday??

Ours was busy but nice. The boys had a great day with lots of surprises :)

Matt gave me the ok to book a few days away with Chase in April. I'm so thankful. He and I need a mini vacation :goodvibes we spend a lot of time running Rylan here, there and everywhere. Excited to watch him as he has his first taste if the "big boy rides". When asked if he wanted to ride TestTrack or Tower of Terror, he chose ToT. He's watched both on YouTube many times and knows what is involved.

We visited DL for the first time last year. It seemed so much different than WDW. It is very small in comparison which was nice to get from place to place. I felt like we didn't get to see much because lines we SO long. We were also there in August, though. Make sure you get to ride Radiator Springs Racers. The line for the FP was so long before the park even opened, so we didn't get to ride during our visit.

We have been trying to plan a DL trip, but that's exactly what I am afraid of!! :scared1: Taking a trip that far away we really need to go in the summer (we don't really have any long school breaks other than Christmas) and I think the entire summer at DL is pretty busy. :confused3

Someday we'll make it... :cloud9:

Mindy~ so glad you and your little guy are going to get to spend some Quality Time together at such a special time!
Shelly~ I can't believe its time for you to go back already!! I am sooo Jealous!! LOL!!!
Christmas was great~and my mom and nephew are here for the weekend…I only get him twice a year, so we are excited he's here...

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and Happy New Year Snowbirds!

It's been ages since I've been on here. I really miss having a trip to plan! I'm glad everyone had a nice holiday. Santa brought our family the stomach bug two days before Christmas but thankfully we were all feeling much better in time for Christmas. No one wanted to visit our germ filled house so it was a quiet relaxing cozy Christmas just the four of us and honestly I liked it better that way!!! :rolleyes1

I've had my daycare closed since Monday and I won't reopen until the day after New Year's. It's been such a nice break!!! I love being mom to just my own two and spending time with them. We have big plans next week for our days off- visit to the library, tea party in my new Mickey tea set, cuddling up together to read some books, making some bracelets on Emily's new Rainbow Loom and she wants to have a dance party in the living room. Big plans I tell ya! :goodvibes

Happy New Year!!! We had a great Christmas and my little sister was home from NYC since December 20th so we got to spend lots of time together. It was great! Tony got me the Mickey and Minnie Alex & Ani bracelets that I have wanted since they got released and he also surprised me with a Microsoft Surface RT tablet! I seriously teared up because I was so surprised. Meeting with clients will be so much easier now that I don't have to lug our family laptop with me! It has Microsoft Office which is what I use for all of my documents. He really researched it and got a fabulous Black Friday deal on it...I have taught him well. :)

Madison goes back to school tomorrow (boo) but she had a great time off from school. She went to 2 different sleepovers on Sat and Sun evening....I felt like I only had 1 child! She went bowling with some friends last night for a NYE thing (only went until 9pm). She had a very Disney Infinity Christmas...we got her a lot of characters! I even ordered Sorcerer Mickey from the Amazon UK website since he doesn't come out in the US until this year! Cool mom points right there. :goodvibes

Still no family Disney trip in the works right now, but my agency is having a little conference again this year (we do every other year at WDW) and it is being held at the Yacht Club right at the start of Food & Wine!! So excited!

I wish you all a very happy 2014! May it be filled with lots of Disney trips!
