Has anyone done the Mountain Point Snorkeling Adventure with kids (their age guidelines say 8 and up)? If so, do you know how hard and fast the 80 lb rule is? My 10-year-old daughter would love to do this excursion, but will for sure be under the weight limit.

If it's a Disney cruise excursion, any restrictions listed are set in stone.

If it's not a Disney excursion, you'd have to ask them.

I know they're strict about age limits (which they can easily police since they have all that information). But do they actually weigh participants in these excursions? That seems pretty extra, even for Disney...

Research the excursion (from the actual company that does it) and find out why the weight limit.
When my kids were little we wanted to do the Helmet Dive and the kids didn’t meet the weight limit.
Come to find out the weight limit was because the kids wouldn’t be able to stay on the bottom (would float) because they didn’t weight enough
On another cruise we went zip lining and my daughter was just under the weight limit. They let her go but she got stuck on a few of the lines because not enough force to move across the line. They had to come out and get her😂😂 on one and throw her a safety line on another

If there's a restriction, on a DCL excursion, chances are yes, they check it.

DH and DD did it and loved this excursion! You can book it through "Snorkel Alaska" directly and they may have a different age/weight limit, so I'd check that out. They have a FB page and a website as well. If we go to Alaska again we would absolutely book through them. Hope this helps!

I just did. Their "who can go" information says "Participants must weigh between 80 and 260 pounds to insure proper wetsuit fit."

I was thinking it must be a wetsuit issue. It's very cold there, and they provide very thick wetsuits but can't fit everyone. DD was 14 when we went, so the weight thing wasn't an issue. Great company, BTW.

For anyone who's interested, I called the company and was told that they've had kids who weigh as little as 60 pounds on the excursion and they work with you to make sure your child is safe and comfortable. I think I'll be booking this one!

Wonderful! They are really a great company - years later I'm still following them on FB and I love to see all their posts with starfish and other creatures. Have a great cruise!
