Sneaking alcohol into MK

I guess I'll be branded as a party pooper with a stick up my butt, but I too think anyone who can't spend a few hours in the MK without a drink might have a drinking problem - particularly if you're a parent. What kind of message does that send to your children? It'd be one thing if it were young college kids acting stupid (as a former stupid college kid myself that would make more sense to me) but to read that parents would actually risk their child's vacation happiness all for a measly swig of alcohol is unbelievable to me. At some point in life you have to grow up and chose to be a responsible adult. I only drink when the time and place is appropriate and the Magic Kingdom does not qualify.

Edited to add: As far as the sneaking in alcohol = child abuse comment I believe that was just one not-so-eloquent poster grasping at straws to try and make a point. I certainly don't feel that way and I doubt anyone else on here does either.

This is my favorite thread ever!!!!:rotfl2: I have laughed long and hard. We are all a little ridiculous. People have been sneaking liquor into MK probably since it opened and I have been there many times and never had my good time or anyone I know good time ruined by someone imbibing in the Magic Kingdom. I have tucked a couple of airline bottles in my pocket and livened up my Dole Whip a time or 2. I say live and let live it isn't a problem so it isn't an issue. if you think the person who sneaks a nip into the MK has a problem have compassion for the illness you believe they have and get on with your life.

:yay::yay::yay: Hushupu!!! :cool1::cool1:
Yes! My point exactly!!! And..you do bring up another good point...compassion is a good thing to have...try to remember..."There By The Grace of God Go I :thumbsup2
Thank you.

mickey bayou, ny timez, wadecool and a few others , thank you for making me laugh several times throughout this thread! I'd be happy to buy (or share) a drink with you anytime!

Scrappy, was that the Blues Travelers show? Several people I know were there , and gasp, I think a few of them might have imbibed!

If someone loves alcohol so much that they simply have to bring it into MK with them, then yes, I think they have a problem. There are resorts within walking distance where you can have a drink, for Pete's sake! Have a drink before you go to the Magic Kingdom. Or leave for a while and have a few. it is not that hard to do! Why this driving need to have one someplace where it isn't allowed, when it is so easy to go someplace where it is allowed?

If somene can't be in a park for a few hours without an alcoholic beverage then they do have a problem.

"Ditto. Mine still smokes, and when we go to WDW she has her smoke in the smoking areas. And I will sometimes sit near her in them, if it isn't too busy and smokey. It isn't a big deal. Though if someone else stuck their nose into our business and started making comments, it would turn into a big deal. MYOB does sometimes still apply."

Take your own advice.

Yes, and it was WONDERFUL!!!!! We plan on going back next year. It is such a cool venue, with the Denver skyline is in the distance...we got to see several firework displays around the city while we were watching the concert. I'm going to try to fly out my 21 year old son next year from New Hampshire to go with us, he flipped when he heard we went to Red Rocks, it's his "dream" concert venue.

There were several tailgaters, it looked like a lot of fun, I think we'll probably go that route next year too. I'm not sure about "imbibing", but I know there was a lot of funny smelling smoke!! But 3oz or under MJ is legal in Denver...weird law, it's illegal for the state, but legal in Denver. Can't figure that one out!! They don't call it the Mile "High" city for nothing!!

I'm still confused why people keep assuming that someone who sneaks some booze in does it because "they can't go into MK without it so they have a problem."

It is not that they cannot go to MK without it, they just don't want to. Big difference.

Are they breaking a rule, yes. Is it affecting anyone else? Nope. Let it be. If they get caught, they have to pay the consequences. It is that simple. Why do you care so much about what someone else is doing for fun, if it does not harm you or innocents around you?

I would love to ride It's a Small World when ever I am in my stupid drunk mood. I would laugh so much, it may actually be enjoyable. And on Splash Mountain? Heck yeah, I would make the happy place super happy. (Hint: I am a happy drunk that gets a major case of the giggles :rotfl2:)

Couple of weeks ago when I was at the Wishes Dessert party, I wish I'd had a little brandy or B&B to liven up that horrible, lukewarm stuff they serve up and call "coffee". A little nip would have tasted mighty good with all that chocolate. ;)

Did I say I was going to run around accosting people, and checking their drinks for the smell for alcohol? Nope. Not the same thing at all. Next time you try and make a comparison, make sure it makes sense.

Not to mention, smoking is allowed in the parks. Alcohol is not allowed in MK. However, if alcohol was allowed in an alcohol drinking area, and people walked up and started yelling at those in the alcohol drinking area, I would tell them to myob then too.

(in case anyone cares, the above poster was trying to compare my comments about people who smoke in the smoking areas of the park (which they are allowed to do, and shouldn't be hassled about) with people sneaking in alcohol. It was a bad comparison at best.

Alcohol IS allowed in the parks. Just not the MK. Unless you're at a special event. And the rules are you can't bring in your own, and if they catch you you'll have to throw it out, which might be kinda embarrassing (not to mention a waste of good booze), but you can buy as much as you want IN the park unless you come to the attention of park security from imbibing too much.

Or you can go to the Wave or Tambu or Mizners and have a few. They won't breathalyze you when you go back into MK.

We've done it...DH put a flask of rum in the pocket of his cargo shorts. There were 5 adults (only 4 drinking); we just got cokes and spiked our drinks as needed. Not to get drunk, mind you, just to make MK a little more relaxed with the 10 kids we were dealing with!

Not to call you out specifically, but these are the kinds of comments that set people off on the alcoholic rants. Alcohol intoxication of any level is never NEEDED, is it? (possible exception, amputation in the absence of anesthesia!)

.....we go to WDw to get away from the drunks......
See, that wouldn't be a reason for me. If you asked me to give 10, 50 or even my 100 Top Reasons for Going to Walt Disney World...

"To get away from the drunks" would not have made the list.

Do (or did) you have troubles with drunks in your every day life? I can see where that would cause you to have a bee in your bonnet.

I have to say that it's very sad when someone can't have a good time without alcohol, even at MK.

Fixed by oops. :)

They may not breathalyze you, but they do do a mean Touch Your Finger To Your Nose and Count Backwards from 100 test.;)

Drinks around the world? Nonsense. I want to drink my way around it's a small world.

How awesome would it be if they served themed drinks during the ride?

Day-glo jello shots themed for each world. :thumbsup2

Actually it was a good comparison because the thread that quote came from was in reference to a CM telling a smoker that he could not have his kid who was under 18 with him in the smoking area because it was against WDW policy. You said you accompanied your Mother when she smoked in response to that thread and no one better say anything to you and "MYOB does sometimes still apply."

I interpreted your comment in the context of that thread to be no one should tell people who smoke who can and cannot accompany the smoker into the smoking area, even though according to the CM it is a Disney policy that those under 18 cannot go into the area even when accompanied by their parent. So from that standpoint you are doing the same thing you are condeming me for. Violating a Disney policy.

All I am saying is take your own advice and don't make judgemental statements that someone who wishes to have a drink while at MK has a problem. As I stated I can and have attended the MK without any drink many times. But if I want to why should you say "If somene can't be in a park for a few hours without an alcoholic beverage then they do have a problem." I can go the rest of my life without a drink if I so choose. But if I do choose to have one in MK it is no indication that I have a problem. Maybe I don't want to pay for 4 drinks outside of the MK what an entire bottle of 18 year old scotch costs. Maybe the particular scotch I drink is not available anywhere on property, which by the way it is not.

If you don't agree, then that's fine, just don't be judgmental of those who don't agree with you on everything.

How about this?

Ask him to go through bag check on a separate line from you and mix his drinks far away from you so that if he gets in trouble, he doesn't involve your family.

If he gets in and gets drunk, can he be arrested for DWI if he goes on the Tomarrow Land Speedway?

There is no purpose to that other than making the OP seem snooty and stupid. Anyone with any sense would know that being in the same line as a person doesn't make you "involved" with their stuff - whether you are related to that person or not. The "I don't want to be in the same line that you're in, so you need to find a line that I am not joining" is rude, presumptuous and a wee bit childish.

If the OP doesn't want to be in the same line as her relative, she should fall back and join a different one. But, again, there really is no point to it.

Besides, if he's taking something in to a park that he shouldn't be, it is doubtful that he would give it to them to search!

Many people who sneak contraband in don't hand it over to be searched.
