Sneaking alcohol into MK

I love the fact that if someone wants to have a drink while in the MK they are immediately deemed an alcholic, with a problem that needs to seek help and attend AA meetings. I really love the fact that all of that can be gleened from an internet posting board. Those people are much more insightful, and intelligent than I could ever be.

As for myself it's a free country, there are rules to be followed, or not, and if not then there are consiquinces for my actions. I will deal with those thank you very much.

As to having a drinking problem, not hardly. I drink maybe once every three or four weeks. A little wine and I truly enjoy single malt scotch. I don't drink beer much anymore, and have never liked most mixed drinks.

I only go to WDW anymore with my DW because my kids are grown. In all the trips I have ever taken with them before they were of drinking age I never drank at WDW.

For those of you who feel the need to say someone has a problem consider this, my DW's father died when she was 5 from acute alchol poisning. My Grandfather, Mother, and Father were all alcholics and as a result of being an only child I basically raised myself (cooked, cleaned, washed clothes, managed my own life) since the age of 12.

I do not get drunk because I refuse to have more than 3 drinks a day, ever.

So thank you for telling me about my drinking problem. I will make every effort to attend the next AA meeting I can find. And possibly as I am dealing with my problem you all can find a therapy session to get over your sense of self rightousness.

:thumbsup2 I'm another deemed "alcoholic" on this post!! My drinking habits are pretty much like yours. My DH bought me a CASE of Velvet Red (wine from a Missouri winery that I loved when we lived in Missouri) for Christmas last year. I thought, that's nice, I'll have one bottle a month....glass every week. Last count I still have 8 bottles in there, and I gave one bottle to a friend for a gift  I really need to control myself! Will you be my sponsor? :rotfl: I'll admit though, I love the frou-frou drinks at Disney, especially the Pina-Colava at the Poly. Like you, I have history of people in my life that were alcoholics. We learn quickly our limitations and know what we don't want to be like.

Drinks around the world? Nonsense. I want to drink my way around it's a small world.

How awesome would it be if they served themed drinks during the ride?

You are too funny....I personally think the guy that runs that ride has been drinking. The last time we were there he was dancing around and waving his arms over his head. :dance3: I think HE's an alcoholic , working around that music all day would drive anyone to drink!

This thread has been pretty entertaining.

Here is my take. It is against the "rules" to sneak drinks into any parks. In the other parks you are allowed (even encouraged!) to purchase alcohol. In the Magic Kingdom you are not. Does this make sense? Doesn't matter.....their park, their rules.

I am a rule follower. Following the established rules is critical to a well functioning society. I also teach my kids to follow the rules. If you don't like the rules you can work to get them changed, but you can't just decide to follow the rules you like and flagrantly ignore those you don't. Sneaking alcohol into the MK is a flagrant disregard of the rules. If you were part of my traveling party, I would refuse to attend with you. Particularly if there are children involved as I think it sets a TERRIBLE example.

If you can't visit the MK without sneaking in alchohol then yes, I think you have a drinking problem.

Do I drink? Yes. Do I drink in the parks and resorts? Yes. Would I pitch a fit if someone with me tried to sneak alchohol into the MK? Absolutely positively yes. In fact, I would go so far as report it to authorities.

That is my opinion. Yours, no doubt, will vary.

What blows me away is that everyone cares so much about what someone else is doing when it in no way affects them.

Before soemone goes off on soemone being drunk, that is by no means what i am talking about. You can drink at a hotel get drunk and make it passsed security. And I have seen many people act rude in the MK without being drunk. It has nothing to do with sneeking alcohol in.

Why should anyone care?

Like I said earlier. The only reason people sneek it in is because if they did it openly it would be taken away. But sneeking it in is between the person and management, not anyone else who is not afected.

Well I would hope at least you would tell your companion that you planned on doing that so they could hide it from you as well.

:eek:Wow.....actually turn somone in that you observed "breaking the rules"?
Dang..isn't that kind of harsh? Yes, rules are one way in society to try to keep a handle on the madness...but is it really necessary to turn someone in to the authorities? I guess I would ask myself how the actions of that person affect me? If there is no adverse effect, I'm turnin' my head to the little airline size vodka bottle and Florida Orange Juice box.

People, people, people. Thank God we aren't all alike..it would be a really ugly boring world. Seriously, at times, I've also smelled a whiff of a little "wacky tobacky" and I smile and say, HAVE FUN! We're all dying a little every day...fact of life. So why not relax a little. Yes, rules do get broken but does it mean so much to you that you have to ruin someone elses day when the broken rule has no effect on you and your families happiness or ability to enjoy MK?

LIGHTEN UP! (or light up/drink up,whichever applies).

This might be the funniest post ever. Thanks for the laffs.

I'd like to propose a new Disboards drinking game: One shot anytime someone says "I am a rule follower."

You'll be toasted in no time.

well, July lady I may be the only one but I'm with you. somebody in my party wants to break the rules then yes I will turn them in as well.

I am not about to risk my enjoyment being impacted.. either by getting kicked out or having to deal with a 'scene'

may or not 'warn' them. but I sure as hell will make my displeasure known before hand.

Seriously??? your life must be full of alcoholics then if you have to venture all the way to wdw to escape the rampid drunks overtaking the world!
and i don't have a drinking problem, i can swallow very well!

With posts like this, it's hard to not become a Bayou Mickey fan! :rotfl2:

I've heard it's amazing. I've seen it but haven't bought it yet. :)

I bought a little airline-type bottle of it when i got my little Kalua bottle...when I opened it, I had DH smell it, and he's "mmmmmmm, smells like wedding cake". :rotfl: I don't know what it is about him and wedding cake, he buys me Vera Wang's Princess too because to him it smells like wedding cake (frosting). Anyway, I bet it would taste awesome with Godiva, like a PP mentioned. Or maybe in some Hot Chocolate!! ;) I wonder if they'd let me bring in some whipped creme into the MK?

I guess that whole thing about "let he who is without sin cast the first stone" doesn't really apply around here?

Oh dang, I went and got religious. That's another rule broken.

If someone loves alcohol so much that they simply have to bring it into MK with them, then yes, I think they have a problem. There are resorts within walking distance where you can have a drink, for Pete's sake! Have a drink before you go to the Magic Kingdom. Or leave for a while and have a few. it is not that hard to do! Why this driving need to have one someplace where it isn't allowed, when it is so easy to go someplace where it is allowed?

If somene can't be in a park for a few hours without an alcoholic beverage then they do have a problem.

I second that notion really, That is such a problem now-a-days people sticking their noses where they don't belong :) You Go!!

Just FYI for those who will "report to the authorities" because they see someone slip a little something in their drink.....

Me and DH both work in law enforcement (I know, a shocker, huh?), and there are usually much bigger fish to fry than someone reporting minor infractions that aren't affecting anyone else. Such people are usually categorized as whiners, snitches, or people that just can't mind their own business. It takes up valuable time checking out such things when there are other more pressing concerns. Maybe because we see so much worse things every day, small things like this really don't bleep much on the radar.

We went to Red Rocks for a concert during the 4th of July....there was a guy walking from car to car selling bongs and other drug paraphernalia. I'm sure that place was crawling with security, yet nobody approached him. I wanted to take a picture of his pretty bongs to post on our bulletin board at work, but DH pooed the idea. Party Pooper!!

Why this driving need to have one someplace where it isn't allowed, when it is so easy to go someplace where it is allowed?

"signs, signs, everywhere signs
blocking up the scenery, breakin my mind
do this, don't that can't you read the sign?"

"signs, signs, everywhere signs

do this, don't that can't you read the sign?"

Okay, that is just eerie....I was looking up the lyrics to that song last night, because it popped up in my mind too while reading these posts!!

And the sign said long haired freaky people need not apply
So I tucked my hair up under my hat and I went in to ask him why
He said you look like a fine upstanding young man, I think you'll do
So I took off my hat I said imagine that, huh, me working for you

woah!

Sign Sign everywhere a sign
Blocking out the scenery breaking my mind
Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign

And the sign said anybody caught trespassing would be shot on sight
So I jumped on the fence and yelled at the house, Hey! what gives you the right
To put up a fence to keep me out or to keep mother nature in
If God was here, he'd tell you to your face, man you're some kinda sinner

Sign Sign everywhere a sign
Blocking out the scenery breaking my mind

Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign

Now, hey you Mister! can't you read, you got to have a shirt and tie to get a seat
You can't even watch, no you can't eat, you ain't suppose to be here
Sign said you got to have a membership card to get inside

Uh!

And the sign said everybody welcome, come in, kneel down and pray
But when they passed around the plate at the end of it all,
I didn't have a penny to pay, so I got me a pen and a paper and I made up my own little sign
I said thank you Lord for thinking about me, I'm alive and doing fine

Sign Sign everywhere a sign
Blocking out the scenery breaking my mind
Do this, don't do that, cant you read the sign!

I have just finished reading through this whole thread at work, been here since 7am.

Here are my 5 cents:

Thank goodness I can still bring my Xanax.... I do have a valid rx for it, btw. (And no I am not addicted to it, but I do have crowd and other panic issues. I do go during "low crowd" times and avoid parks with higher crowd predictions.)

I have never thought to bring booze into MK nor would I, as it is against the rules and Florida statute. But now that you mention it, if I had a few drinks in me I might be able to ride It's a Small World.... ;)

I told dbf that if he tried to bring in a flask I would dump him..... or I will leave for MK in the early morning and he can sleep off his hangover from the "Drinking around EPCOT" from the day before.

In all seriousness, I am rather perplexed how this started as sneaking a flask or airline-size bottle of booze into the MK turned into "people who drink are child abusers." Yes I agree if you drink and drive that is child endangerment as well as public endangerment. Or drinking and beating your children is child abuse. But for someone to say that a grown adult who drinks around their children or any other child is a child abuser is just ridiculous. Yes people do drink and can become inappropriate, but that is not child abuse. As a survivor, it makes my blood boil that someone would even suggest that. :sad2: If that is the case then they better build some more jails, because a lot of people are going to the big house.
