Smoking & stroller wagons banned May 1!

I was going through bag check on one of our last trips and had my sweater stuffed into the top of my bag. When the screener asked me to take the sweater out I said "dang it" as it had taken my husband over 5 minutes to get it into my bag in the first place. The screener then decided to go through absolutely everything in my bag (including opening my water bottle and unfolding my sweater to check its pockets) as he thought I was attempting to sneak something in (evidenced by the come back he made of "yeah we catch everything" after my comment) I was not trying to sneak anything in I just didn't want to waste another 5 minutes stuffing my sweater back into my bag because I'm highly susceptible to cold and need a heavy sweater.

But back on topic I was once nailed in the back of the knee by the rental strollers at sea world as they decided they should be dolphin shaped and the nose was exactly knee height on my 12 year old self causing my knee to buckle and me to hit the floor... and while I 100% support the need for strollers in the park I hate being nailed by wagons being dragged behind people and oversized strollers so I'm pleased about those bans. And the smoking one thrills me and I know it wouldn't have bothered my mother at all when she smoked as she HATED being anywhere near children with a cigarette in her hand.

Let's try to keep the arguing to a minimum and to keep the discussion (mostly!) on topic, please. Thank you!

@Disney_Alli: Have you tried the compact down jackets/down sweaters that pack up into a pocket or a little bag? I'm sensitive to cold, too, and stuffing sweaters and jackets into bags and backpacks was starting to be a hassle for DH ("do you really need ALL this stuff?"). But the little packable down jackets and sweaters are a game changer! They pack small and are very light and they're warm (!). And at this time of year, many of them are on sale!

same with the thin down blankets - they fold into a tiny square and that's what we use on the curbs for parades!

If anyone has concerns about wearing genuine down, there are also packable insulated jackets that do not use down.

I haven't yet - my husband usually just deals with me attempting to stuff a Lululemon hoodie into my Mickey Parkhopper lol but I really should look into one... I've actually been meaning to buy a real rain jacket for years too and haven't yet lol.

I thought of this thread today when I was at Costco and had to dodge a lady on an ECV. I was on the far right of an aisle and she was coming towards me. As I swerved to avoid her I realized she had no intention of slowing or stopping, even though she was in the wrong "lane". See it isn't a Disney thing, it's a people thing. LOL.

We have both kinds (down and Primaloft) -- both work very well in the parks. Down packs a bit smaller. Primaloft is a bit tougher and less delicate in the washing machine. I don't feel as hesitant to throw the Primaloft into the machine -- it bounces right back.

Who knew this girl from the Great White North would be getting tips on cold weather gear from the Disneyland board lol
Lol! For rain jackets for home, travel, and DLR, look into Gore-tex jackets/coats that pack into a pocket/bag (e.g L.L. Bean's Stowaway jackets). Our rain jackets have traveled the world for years (12+), taken a beating (like this past winter in the parks!), washed up beautifully, and just keep going strong. The longevity makes the sticker shock work out in the end. For me, Gore-tex layers well, so I can wear it over somethng warm and stay windproof and waterproof all day in the parks. Bonus feature: they work on Splash "drench" Mt., too!

D0273434-CE25-4910-B6EA-1F25E4C0974C.png Those who mentioned that strollers will be measured with a box were right. Saw this on Gothic Rosie’s page. Wanted to give a heads up. Not sure if they are enforcing now or waiting until May 1 to do so.

So is it for the stroller base or the overall stroller? If the base fits, but the carriage hangs over a bit, does it count? And I wonder what they'll do about strollers that are barely too big. I can imagine some ugly arguments at bag check.

Have a great time with your friends! Hope you enjoy the CCI -- and don't forget to get your return guest discount!
So we cancelled our CCI reservation and are doing the Marriott...my friend's mom had Marriott points so the room was free. So it saved us a lot of money. I'm a little worried that it isn't as close as CCI. I'll update my original post since everyone was helping us decide to let you know how we like it.

The Marriott Convention Center? You can take the TS shuttles from there -- that can help after a commando day in the parks. And sometimes there are food trucks in front of the ACC -- that can be fun, too. And, hey, you can't argue with free!

Used my second of my three day ticket yesterday and will use the third after May 1st. Def still saw the Keenz yesterday and at least one I saw was tagged as a wheelchair. Super curious to see how many will still get in due to ADA. FWIW, I do hope that if they help family with severely sick kids (Make a Wish) that they are allowed to be used, of course there will always be cheaters.

Saw several strollers that I wanted to measure, but that’s just because I was curious. Noticed the two types of Disney rentals. Not sure why anyone would choose the blue plastic one over the green sling back one. Are they phasing the green ones out?

The thing that gets me is the kids in the strollers with a screen and no one will ever be able to tell me it’s a necessity at Disney for them!

I wonder how they will judge “hanging over”? I have a double BOB, which according to manufacturer specs is 30.5 inches wide... so just barely within the limits.

right? it sound like total nitpicking, but people haul strollers from across the country to use and if it's one of these subjective (i.e. is the CM paying attention and does he or she care) types of things it could get dicey. As far as the pic above, I wonder if the blue edge border is the line and that's what's 31" across, or what. Are they going to have like yardsticks to ensure it's within borders or is it an eyeball thing? Our double is exactly 31" across according to my measuring and manufacturer specs, and if it came in according to them at 31.2" or something I would be upset. This sounds like a ridiculous scenario but there are plenty of common doubles right around 31" across.
