It depends on what you're used to. I have some Nike Air Walks that I LOVED but Nike quit making that style so I had to find something else. I found some Skechers I liked the look of but, like you, found them heavy in comparison. So I kinda shelved them after a week until my Nikes just died. Once I got used to the Skechers I didn't think they were heavy anymore.

Skechers run narrow - for the person who asked. My dds have really narrow feet (no target or walmart shoes for them!) and Skechers and New Balance are the only ones that fit them well. They don't have as much arch support as the NB though.

I am on the Sketchers website now and found some great shoes for both of my ds. Do Sketchers run small, big or true to size. I usually buy my boys Nike or Reebok.

Can't speak for boys, but the girl's/women's seem to run small in my opinion. They are definately more narrow and some style could be described as heavy.

Thanks OP! I ordered a cute pair of sandals for $21. I don't wear regular tennis shoes, but I do have a pair of bikers I bought a few years ago, they are very light. I think they typically run a little small, but it depends on the style. I normally wear a 7, but wear 6 1/2 in open toe heels and 8 in flats.

Just to confuse the size issue more- I have always found skechers to run wide. I am wide width, but can get away with reg skechers alot.

The 50% off code expired on me too when I tried to order around 9:30 am Pacific time. I wonder if they have replaced it with their now current online sale, which is 40% off but just selected styles, using code SALE40

You all better check your orders...I was looking at a another board and it looks like everybody who ordered today got their orders cancelled. My guess is the code got around too much.

ETA: After further reading, apparently someone called and was told that the code was for employees only, so all orders are being cancelled.
